We were a little early but as the owner lives next door she saw us arrive, gave us the keys and showed us around the cottage. She is a very friendly lady who doesn’t speak English and that suited us so we could practice our French (with a little help from Google translate). She provides covers for the furniture because we had a dog with us but we actually had our own with us. On first view the cottage seemed tiny and we had a stack of stuff with us. But it all fitted in, no problem. There are a few things I would do differently if the gite was my holiday home (and actually I wish it was!) - there are no work surfaces in the kitchen, there is no hand washing facilities in WC & the window doesn’t open, and we had to get used to opening/closing the front door - but to be honest they are all minor things that in no way spoiled our stay. The living/dining room with ‘ensuite’ kitchen and bedroom are a lovely size and the sofa and bed are both very comfy. I think the gite is really spot on for just two people. There isn’t comfy seating for many more. There is a little courtyard with built in BBQ and a table with chairs. We didn’t have great weather so couldn’t make the most of this space but we didn’t need either the heating or the air conditioning so can’t comment on those. The gite is on a quiet residential road where most, if not all, the houses had guard dogs. It is a nice walk to the town centre either through a park and alongside the river or via footpaths and it is well situated for touring the Chablis region. The most difficult thing was to decide which caves to visit to buy some Chablis wine.

Great self-contained space. The outdoor area, when the sun is shining, is great to relax in. Short walk to the centre of town.

This is a lovely two story gite in an excellent location just 10 minutes walk from the delightful town centre. It is clear it is a labour of love for the host who has paid great attention to the decor and fittings. We were there in a record heatwave and were able to live downstairs where the comfortable sofa bed, excellent electric blinds and fan enabled us to stay cool all day and night. We enjoyed breakfast in a pleasant garden patio and would have loved to have evening drinks there had the weather been milder. There is a spacious and attractive upstairs bedroom which would be very nice to use if it wasn’t too hot but it would require coming downstairs to use the bathroom.
