property was fine the only downside was that 3 days prior to me coming to this location I was informed that the pool would be closed for 2 weeks for maintenance I didn’t see anybody doing any maintenance I think the pool has been out of action for a while

The apartment was excellent. It was nicely decorated and well equipped. The bathroom and kitchen were good and the bed was comfortable. There was a view out to sea from the balcony. It was a pleasure to come back to it each day. The walk to Caleta, the nearest resort took about half an hour but was along a newish, well-lit foot/cycle path.

Ocean View Bougainville is very dated and in need of maintenance which while we were there seemed to be a constant process. Carrying suitcases up the concrete spiral stairs to the upper floors was not easy and would present a problem to anyone with mobility issues. The main pool was temporarily closed although we were able to use the small children’s pool and the pool at a nearby hotel. The restaurant and pool bar were also closed. The area surrounding the complex had many open plots with some incomplete buildings which was not attractive. The local facilities ie bars, restaurants shops were very limited. Caleta, the nearest resort was a half hour’s walk along the coast path.

Apartment was modern and clean,comfortable too. Everything you need is in the apartment.

No restaurant or bar open in resort,closed down along time ago. The pool cannot be used has it's a green slurry. Spiral stairs to the flat needs attention from resort management.

Amazing location for exploring island. Huge pool. Well equipped kitchen. Great shower. Comfortable sofa, loved the blankets for evening relaxing. Wonderful morning sun on balcony. Great having an oven (although only one rack so could only cook one pizza at a time!) and washing machine. Island contact & her husband were really lovely and did everything they could to sort out issues as they occurred.

Overall we liked the apartment but unfortunately we had some issues and perhaps some bad luck. When we arrived they had just decorated and although we ventilated we had headaches for 2 days from the fumes. The builders had left rubbish in communal areas and we had an uncomfortable conversation with the maintenance man who wanted it cleared, which we relayed to our contact. After a few days the sink began leaking. This took 2 plumber visits and 4 days without a sink (while it dried in between fixes). The window in the bedroom doesn't seal properly and in high winds (half our holiday Storm Celia!) the wind wailed and whistled through, it was very loud and kept us awake for hours. Eventually I managed to reduce the noise a bit by putting a vest top around the window and closing it on the top. This window really needs fixing as it is a very windy island. In our second week the flat next door had building work which was extremely noisy so we had to be out all day to avoid it, which wasn't very relaxing as we felt pushed out even when the weather was bad. One much smaller (easily fixed) issue is that the community sun loungers were very uncomfortable, many residents had their own or had cushions the brought down, it would be great if the flat had these too as it would make the pool much more comfy! Also no toaster, but easy to grill in oven.

Well equipped and comfortable. Good position for exploring the island. Morning sun on the balcony with a lovely view over the pool area to the ocean.

The accommodation was very clean with modern furnishings and really good facilities.
