My friends and I came down forba few days to do Mesa Verde and other putdoor acyivites. The house was absolutely adorable, well stocked and perfect for our needs. There is a coffee shop right out your front door which was very convenient. Steve and Robby were so kind and welcoming. We loved the town of Dolores and everything it had to offer. If we ever come back down south we will definitely stay here!

This proper is better than advertised.
My wife and I stayed at this property for a week and had an outstanding stay. The property has a cool retro vibe and all the rooms in the house are large.
We cooked almost every night and the house was stocked with everything we needed. The owners were friendly and responsive while respecting our privacy. The location is perfect as we were able to visit: Telluride, Mesa Verde National Park, Cortez, and Mancos. Plus the Dolores River is about 200 yards away. We enjoyed the quaintness of Dolores and the friendliness of the town. Don't hesitate to book this property.
We hope to be back

Great location in a small, quiet town. Close to several towns and the Mesa Verde Entrance. Our stay was the first week of June. Temperatures average 50 at night to about 80 °f in the afternoon. The river is super close to the house and accessible but still too cold to actually enjoy a fun dip. Doesn't stop anyone from trying though :) The Host offer several beach towels for any water expeditions you may tackle.
House was as expected. Clean, plenty of space and a heater in the bathroom in case you get cold like me.
The bathroom mirrors are not kid friendly height.
Rooms were nice. Beds were good. The blinds over the windows do not block out much sunlight. By 530 am every morning the rooms were lite up.
There is only one TV that's in the living area. No bedrooms have TV so keep that in mind if you have guests that need their own space.
We did not explore around the property much. We did not access the sauna.
But it was a good trip for us.

Father/son elk hunting trip
We spent a week in this wonderful and cozy property for a father/son elk hunting trip at the end of October in 2021. I can’t say enough about how great our experience was. This is a great place to stay with wonderful hosts. I highly recommend this property.

Great House!
Great central location! It is only about 20 minutes to Mesa Verde National Park. The whole little town is within walking distance from the house. The house was very clean and fully furnished and stocked with all of the supplies we needed to have a comfortable stay. The property owner is very sweet and easy to communicate with.

Delores is a wonderful small town and this home is a great way to get to know both the town and the area. Fun hiking within a mile, nice river walks right out the door and challenging hiking within a short scenic drive.
Mess Verde is a 20-30 minute drive away. Farmers market in town on Wednesday evening.
House was spacious and well appointed. I enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch. Wonderful, cool mornings!
We definitely enjoyed our stay in every way.

This is our second stay in this home. Robby and Steve are tremendous hosts. Great personalities, easy to talk to and very accommodating.
The house has been updated with great bathrooms that work well and bedrooms with beds that actually allow you to sleep.. The kitchen has way more utensils and appliances than most rentals. The cooking pans are Cuisinart and as a consequence it is very easy to prepare food in this kitchen. Laundry facilities are very nice and work flawlessly.
The neighborhood is quiet despite being just off the main street in Dolores. Within walking distance of the Ponderosa Restaurant, grocery store and other places of interest.
Did I mention that Robby and Steve are great hosts?
We have stayed in other rentals with a much higher per night cost and this is far and away the best value per night.
You will really enjoy your stay at this house.

Perfect for family trip
Fort Dolores was perfect for our family trip. Two downstairs bedrooms and a bathroom for those in our group with mobility issues. 2 1/2 bedrooms and another bathroom upstairs. All of the rooms are very large, clean and comfortable. Also, high praise on the comfort of the beds.
Located conveniently in town for walking to restaurants and the Food Market. It was very nice working with Robby and Steve. We enjoyed the fresh vegetables they shared. Quick and easy communications.
Hope to come back soon!!!

A little quaint town
We love staying here the amenities are great the owners are even greater. It’s a perfect spot for us because we can go fishing hiking or swimming and not have to drive that far!

Very nice time in Dolores
We, two Dutch family's of four adults and four kids enjoyed a nice couple of days in Dolores. The house was very clean and well kept, The home owner was friendly and helpfull. We enjoyed our stay very much. In the summer the house tends to get very warm and there is no airconditioning present, we were aware of that but it is a point of interest.

This place was just Terrific!
Robby’s house is just terrific. At first I thought I might get lost in all the rooms, nooks and spaces.
I recently stayed in the town of Dolores, CO while on an elk hunting trip. My party decided to stay in “Fort Dolores “ which is the name of Robby’s house and it was a great decision. The house is charming and much to nice for hunters, however we made the best of a “good” situation.
But really the house is very spacious and has so many small amenities that make this a great deal. The house is right in the center of town and close to everything you might need. The town is a great little place with friendly people and you can walk around and not feel uncomfortable.
Robby and Steve have added so many small things to the house that there really is nothing else you need. Bring your clothes, buy your food, and come prepared to have fun.
Trust me you will not be disappointed with this house just move in and enjoy. Next time I come it will be my wife and not a hunting party. I am sure she will enjoy the house, the town, and the whole experience.
Thanks Robby and Steve,
Jack Reed

Fort Dolores
I lived in Dolores for a few years as a kid and this house always stood out to me. When looking for a place to stay during a family reunion, I jumped at the chance to stay at Fort Dolores. The house provides everything you could ask for. The bedrooms are large and private and the decks are a great place to relax in the evenings. The living and dining areas are more than comfortable and inviting. The location Is central for day trips and when exploring Dolores itself everything is within walking distance. Robby and Steve were nothing less than wonderful and helpful in every why. Your not going to find a better value in the area.

Great property. Great location.
Great house. We really enjoyed our stay. Loved the walk to the river and to the Dolores River Brewery. Great day trip to Telluride, too.

Lovely and comfortable
This home was perfect for our stay. Close to everything in town and easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Robbie and Steve were very accessible if we needed anything. We were in town for my son's wedding and it was large enough to accommodate friends and relatives who dropped by. Loved all the antiques in the home and I appreciated all the recycle bins provided. I would highly recommend this home for your vacation in Dolores.

Cute house with a unique spirit
The house is beautiful and suited all of our needs. We were a large family and the big kitchen let us cook our meals and hang out there wonderfully. The house is situated in the middle of town, great for walking to restaurants and other places. The home was also very clean. Would definitely recommend

Comfortable
Fort Dolores is a beautiful historical home. Robbie and Steve were very gracious host and are super easy to work with and answer any questions you may have. The home is fully equipped with top of the line appliances and has everything you need. They even have super sized beach towels to help you enjoy the river down the road. We definitely recommend this home to all who want to visit this beautiful area.

A perfect stay!
The comfortable house, the good lighting, the more than friendly reception, the fact that everything functions - what more could we wish for? Well - on top of that we got a trip in the 1962 VW 23-window minibus up the mountain, a tour of the mountain property (plus more antique cars) and a precious time in our wonderful hosts' company enjoying wine and cheese - making a great vacation perfect.
P.S. Favorite restaurants in Dolores: Montezuma and Dolores River Brewery. Favorite restaurants in Cortez: Shiloh Steak House and Farm Bistro.

Would not think twice about renting this house again!
We have rented dozens of homes over the years but nothing compared to this home with all of its' nooks and crannies to explore. Delores is a charming and quaint little town away from all of the hustle and bustle of tourists in Cortez and the Mesa Verde area in general. After a long day of exploring it was nice to settle in for the evening and know that you were going to have some peace and quiet away from the maddening crowds. Steve and Robby were great hosts and very easy to work with. We did not get the chance to meet Robby in person though we talked with her via the phone as she accommodated our request to check in a day early. Steve is a life long native of the area and was a wealth of information on local attractions missed by a lot of tourists who just don't know that they exist. One example would be the pipe people sculptures that were way cool. A one of a kind yard art so to speak. If your travels take you to SW Colorado this rental is one you cannot go wrong with. If we return to Mesa Verde anytime soon my base of operation will be in this house in Delores, CO. Thanks to Robby and Steve and their friend Steve, who works out of the basement in this house, for all of your kindness shown to us while we were in Delores. Thank you for sharing this wonderful old house (built in 1938 per Steve) with two southerners who had an absolutely fantastic time while staying here. We will be back! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Fun and relaxing time!
We had a wonderful stay in this small town and quaint property. It was more than perfect for our needs - there were 8 of us total, including an infant and we had plenty of room and space to enjoy our time together. The house is really cool and all of the bedrooms were very comfortable and cozy. We cooked almost every night we were there and had everything we needed to make meals. The kids enjoyed going down to the river (nearby) and skipping rocks. Next time we visit Mesa Verde, we would love to come back to stay.
