This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor. There was a bus route within walking distance that would take you to both locations (we drove but used the bus in Acadia). The town was very quiet compared to Bar Harbor. The whole process of working with Marth was easy. We loved staying at her home.

This property was perfect for our stay to visit Acadia. 15-20 minutes away from a bulk of the Acadia attractions and Bar Harbor. Property was very clean and exactly as described in the listing. Plenty of space for our large family. Host was very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend this home for your stay.

This was a lovely property in a perfectly picturesque village. We loved walking to the harbor. The only downside was that the master bedroom was very hot (it was a hot week). We enjoyed our stay!

Family get away
This house needs updating inside and out. It is spacious and plenary of room for 8. We opened a cupboard and the door fell off….my husband fixed it. Many lightbulbs were not working and no replacements available, many bath towels were stained or bleach spotted, living room had outlets that were not working. We enjoyed being close to the downtown area, close enough to bike onto carriage trails and the luxury of walking to the harbor.

Great stay at Escargot
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Escargot. The house was incredibly comfortable and met all of our needs. It was terrific being able to spread out in the spacious home and we also loved being able to relax out back by the fire pit. Each bedroom was very comfortable and the house had every amenity that we needed (and more!). We also appreciate the very fast internet, as we had to do a little work while there. We enjoy coming to the island and absolutely loved our stay at the home and highly recommend it. Also, Northeast Harbor is our favorite town here and the location of the home is perfect. You can walk to the shops, grab a bite to eat, and end up at the marina to sit by the water in a few short minutes. Martha was a wonderful host and we appreciate her responsiveness and helping make our stay perfect. I highly recommend Escargot.

This house was a perfect location to access all that is Acadia and it was quiet in the evening away from Bar Harbor.
Kitchen is a little dated.

Perfect home in the perfect location
This house is amazing. The photos, as good as they are, do it no justice. We had so much more space than expected. It's at the perfect location, just a block or two from the charming main street in Northeast Harbor, a town that's just the right size to get what you need when you don't want to go anywhere, but so peaceful and quiet.
Definitely recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home! The fire pit was a hit and after biking through Acadia we all needed a soft seat and fireside glass of wine! The location is perfect to walk down to the little town and the local market has everything you need! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

This property worked for us, but was far from perfect, listing stated that you could walk into town, I expected town to be a harbor town that was bustling, it was dead - only one place to eat, no view to the water. We stayed here to be able to go to Bar Harbor, Bar Harbor was at least a 20 min drive through dark turning roads - I should have researched that better. The house had been a long term rental and needed a deep cleaning, there was pet urine in the living room, rendering that room unusable, owner did reimburse us 40.00 (after promising to leave 100.00). The ceiling was knocked out in the downstairs bathroom - which would have been ok if we had known about it ahead of time. So it fit our needs to sleep, but was too far from our ultimate destination and there was no ambience to the town or the home.

It worked
This property worked for us, but was far from perfect, listing stated that you could walk into town, I expected town to be a harbor town that was bustling, it was dead - only one place to eat, no view to the water. Super-friendly host, clean accommodations in a nice location. When we wanted something close-in, we found nice things to do in NE Harbor. When we wanted to more fully explore MDI, it was a quick drive. Martha was wonderful, friendly, and accessible. We'll return. Highly recommend.

Weekend Stay
I stayed at Martha’s home for a weekend with co-workers as we attended a wedding at Camp Beech Cliff. The house was a quick drive from the venue and allowed us to see a little bit more of the island while we were there. In between wedding events, we were able to walk down to Main Street where there are several great spots for bfast/lunch/dinner as well as local shopping, a small convenience store and gas station.
The house is immaculately clean, well stocked with linens and essentials, and the beds were very comfortable. We initially planned for a larger group of about 8 people to stay but, ended with only 4 of us due to life events and cancellations. Regardless, I’m confident we would have still fit comfortably with our whole group due to how roomy the house is!
Overall, we all felt the home was a lovely place to stay and we would certainly stay again if in the area. Thank you, Martha!

Comfortable and Convenient
Escargot is the perfect launching pad for all of your Acadia and MDI adventures. It’s also an ideal resting place in between your activities. Speaking of activities, Martha’s recommendations were for food were all terrific. We’re so looking forward to our next visit to MDI...you’ll find us at Escargot!

Perfect Wedding Weekend House
I stayed here with a group of friends when we had a wedding at the Asticou Inn. The house was everything we needed. Plenty of bedroom space and a great big bathroom to get ready in. Ample linens for a big house. Owner was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly. Would rent again if we are ever back that way!

Great location for a family gathering
We really enjoyed staying at Escargot. The house was located very close to the main street and marina of Northeast Harbor but was on a quiet street. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked.
