We arrived late in the evening, checked in very easily. Room was lovely and clean, great selection of teas and coffee etc. Jane had even made us some flapjack which I thought was a great touch. Met Jane the following day and she is absolutely lovely! Had breakfast on just one of our mornings and that was great. Jane was very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you.

This is a very lovely family, when we arrived from the train station, the road is not far, but it is very tiring to carry the luggage, the host helped us to carry the luggage to the top floor, the room for 3 people, the room is very clean, the host must be a very diligent person, the breakfast is super, the hostess is lovely and very polite, The cleanliness of their home is the best I have seen in more than ten years of travel. They must love their home very much, so they can run it so well. We live in room No. 7, and we will bring friends here again in the future.

It is in a very good location with both Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere within an easy reach. It was also in a very quiet neighbourhood. Private parking space was very handy although one can also park the car in the street. Useful and practical information about the local shops and things to do provided in digital form in advance as well as in prints. We also received a wealth of useful information from the hosts as well when asked. Generous portions of breakfast provided (there are various options to choose from). Eggs, toast and coffee all done nice and fresh. The rooms are clean and comfortable with central heating included, which was sometimes required due to unpredictable weather in April.

Location is very good, close to restaurants, shops and to the lake.
The room was as per the picture, so no surprises. 😊
The owners Jane and Mark were nice and welcoming.
The windows were hard to shut and the shower was not powerful enough.

We found the mattress to be very uncomfortable. Both myself and the partner struggled to sleep and came away exhausted.

The Beds. How loud everything is above the room.
After our first nights stay my wife and I wanted to have a drive up to Ambleside in the morning but couldn’t because my car was blocked in by another visitor. it wasn’t a very pleasant experience in all honesty.

perfect location to walk to either end of the town. Owners were so welcoming and kept in-touch throughout the stay. really appreciated the information provided in the room upon our arrival also. Definitely recommend the breakfast!! excellent. Absolutely will be returning

owners where very polite
overpriced (only payed so much because it had the spa and gym with it but wasn’t very nice)
owners were not always available all the time, when we needed more towels we had to ring them and they were shopping and asked us if we could wait till they were back, we had just used the spa and needed to shower before heading for a meal at a restaurant and needed to be there at a specific time so couldn’t wait.

Lovely bed and breakfast with friendly and helpful hosts who answered every question. Fabulous communication before and during the stay. Gluten-free bread for breakfast (which was lovely and cooked to order) and extra towels for visit to the swimming pool and chocolates on arrival for my husband's birthday - very kind! Windermere and Bowness can be easily reached by foot.
We found the bed a little hard but this is a personal preference. The health club/spa/swimming pool is a gym that is 2 miles away from the bed and breakfast. It is okay but in need of renovating/updating. This has nothing to do with the bed and breakfast and is an additional extra.

Great location. Walkable to bath Windermere and Bowness. The health club access was a bonus as the kids really wanted a dip in a pool!

The location was fantastic, right bang in the middle if both Windemere and Bowness, so we had access to both centres within short walking distance. Clean and nicely decorated.
Felt it was slightly impersonal, as although the staff were there, they didn't really welcome us, and they weren't really around much. That being said, they did seem nice on the occasions that we spoke to them.

Stayed 2 nights alone and was so happy with were I was staying . Room was spotless and cosy with Netflix as an added bonus. Hosts messaged me more or less as soon as I arrived to check everything was ok. Perfect location to walk to both Bowness and Windermere would definitely stay again.

Absolutely lovely accomodation, the room was very clean and nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed! Our room was at the back of the accomodation and so was quiet with minimal traffic noise. The breakfast room is bright and airy and a pleasure to done in. Jane and Mark were very friendly and Mark cooks the perfect full English breakfast. We would be more than happy to stay here again.
This isn't a dislike as such more of an observation for information. The location of Thornbank House is great if you're able to walk ok, located approx 10 to 15 mins walk from the town centre one way and the Lake the other way, Both directions involve slight hills.
