The balcony was superb. Loved it!
There was a day when I felt the staff went into the room made up the bed but did not clean it entirely. Almost like they were snooping around. not nice.

Spacious rooms and balconies
1) Very poorly maintained - we did not have running water in our basin (the tap was broken)
2) Breakfast was extremely slow and very average, other than the juice which was delicious
3) The swimming pool was out of use our entire stay
4) There were power issues and the hotel had no backup generator so it was impossible to sleep it was so hot as the fans weren’t working

The way it was designed and the Balcony which came.with the Superior Sweet
The hot water was so great we enjoyed it for the first two nights ONLY.
They have mosquito nets in the bed but it has holes here and there and needs to be patched.
First of All after booking the rooms and sending them a copy of.my booking , I have an opportunity to go to Lamu for some work so I said let me see the rooms before comming in 3 days. I went to Shella which is 20 minutes and spoke to the receptionist and gave them the booking refference and said I want to see the rooms, so they showed me the rooms among them was the room with a nice balcony space and basically it was the whole floor that we booked or shown that will be our rooms .
When I arrived with my family The room with the Balcony was occupied and they said I didn't book that room I booked other.rooms, I arrived from Mombasa an 8 hour drive to the crossing point and another hour of boat ride to reach Shella with my family of 6 very tired and looking forward to shower eat and sleep BUT was told that we didn't book that room and we were given one room on top and the two other rooms shown to us .
I asked them why did they shown me the room with the balcony if it wasn't the one booked ? Needless to say I was so disappointed that I am not together with my family.theyntokd.me that the person will check out the second day and it I want it I have to pay KES 2500 per night which I had.to agree and dint have much choice. BUT I am a level 2 Genius level and I should get automatic upgrades when I booked the room was supposed to be given and if not then when the other guests moved out it should have been offered free of charge without the extra payment .. but they charged me anyway
When we sat at the dining space and attempted to have a meal we came under attack from Massive 2-3 bugs my daughter and wife freaked out!! , so we are tired , couldn't eat properly, it was warm and couldn't sleep properly because we had.to shut the windows and even then some bugs came into the room. We.slept with top fans that gave us a chest condition in the morning.

The Swahili breakfast was excellent
The staff were very helpful
7.0
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast options were sufficient. The rooftop restaurant was also serene.
There was a wedding this past weekend which was pretty close to the hotel. The staff didn't give any prior warning on how much noise there would be.
Certain areas of the room also needed a thorough cleaning (bathroom corners, fan)

I had a great stay. Excellent quality-price ratio.
Great staff as well. Quiet at night.
Nothing bad.

lovely private terrace, friendly staff, flexibility to bring our own alcohol (and fridge on terrace), room service on the private terrace
no hot water, slow service (e.g waiting over an hour for lunch after ordering), had to ask for the room to be cleaned (or it was not cleaned), toilet did not flush well, limited toilet paper

Staff are very kind, friendly, helpful and polite.
Location is good.
Food service is quite slow.
Breakfast was acceptable.
I had lunch once and we were not happy for quality, quantity for the price.
Room cleanness and bedding should be better

The location was good, breakfast was served late on two out of 4 breakfast served and the orders mixed up. We didn't get what we asked for breakfast on one day and had to wait till 10 to be served.
The service could have been better. The customer service was not satisfactory. When we asked for room temperature drinking water that we were paying for it had to be a quarrel for them to avail it. One day towels weren't provided until we called the reception three times and another day one of the rooms wasn't cleaned till a request was also made to the reception.

Traditional hotel in Shela with good location that allows you to explore the main points within walking distance. We had a great experience with the welcoming staff and were lucky to have the rooftop room, which was extremely well ventilated. The view from the terrace is great and the meals we had were also very tasty. Room was simple but spacious, hot water shower worked perfectly. The friendliness of all the staff, including the owner who took us to the boat station and facilitated the crossing to Mada is remarkable.
We did not have any problems during our stay. However, it is worth noting that depending on the room floor, for people with limited mobility, the stairs can be an obstacle. The pool was shaded most of the time, but I guess because of the time of year - not much to do then.
