The Manager Jack was amazing and super helpful with all our questions and help that was needed.

We had been driving all day and needed a motel for an overnighter, somewhere clean, comfortable and well priced and that’s what we got! Jack on reception is lovely and our room was spotless, bed was comfortable and had a nice hot shower. Much cheaper than anywhere else we looked at and the little town of Warragul is actually not that little, there are heaps of shops and amenities, we picked up supplies in town before continuing on our journey.
We could hear trains from our room at night, once we fell asleep it didn’t disturb us at all but a light sleeper might ask for a room on the other side of the property away from the tracks.

I chose the particular motel because it is close to my place of work. At the present time, I do not have a car and the location of the motel allows me to walk, catch the bus or hire a taxi. I was exhausted after Parent teacher night at work and I was happy to have a warm shower, a comfortable bed and a nice cup of coffee with biscuits (available in the room). The wi-fi was excellent and I could access the Internet and check my emails without any worry. Since I am a solo traveler, it was recomforting to know that the people who run the motel are permanently there. I arrived at the motel fairly late and the reception lady was very warm, patient and welcoming. I have rebooked the room for a day next week because I felt so comfortable. It was excellent value for the price.
I really can't complain about anything. I liked the motel and felt safe and comfortable.

Literally nothing. Checked in, left 15mins later due to reception staff (Indian man - Shani?) advising things were always stolen from the rooms, when I queried why no foot spa unit or bathrobes as advertised. Shani stated he’d bring fresh robes, no apology re advertising incorrectly. Comment re things stolen all the time made me feel unsafe, as a solo female.
When Shani brought robes 5mins later, I quietly expressed concern there was a man sitting 1m from my bedroom window smoking, and that his and his partner’s conversation could be clearly heard from inside my room, no sound insulation. To my shock, he then tried to show me his mobile phone, exhibiting a text conversation (with guest phone number clearly displayed at top of msg thread) to convince me guests next door were well known and had stayed 15 times prior. I immediately told Shani he shouldn’t show me guest’s number or any details, as is breach of privacy. Now felt even less safe knowing staff were disrespectful of guests’ privacy. This advice was lost on Shani, who ranted for several mins explaining he was just showing me because because because, etc. He got louder, so I took my bags, got in my car, drove down road, rang Booking.com to request cancellation due to concerns regarding safety & privacy. Booking.com, after listening to my complaint, told me I’d be refunded and didn’t need to do anything besides return the key to the property.
After then calling several other properties, all fully booked due to several weddings in Warragul, I finally got a walk-up reservation elsewhere.
At 6pm Shani called saying he had received email detailing complaint and was sorry I felt unsafe and would refund me with no issues, but that I needed to request cancellation of the booking online through Booking.com. I asked where to return key and he advised me to drop in the locked box, which I did about 10mins later. I also cancelled online, as instructed.
The next morning I got an email from Booking.com advising my reservation was cancelled but I would not be refunded.
I called Booking.com, who read to me the motel’s response to my complaint. Shani stated I was concerned for no reason, and concocted a story describing me complaining the bed wasn’t king size (it actually was, and no issues with cleanliness that I could see in the 15 mins I was at the property). He conveniently left out the conversation re stolen property, missing footspa and bathrobes, my concern re guests next door, excessive noise, smoking and drinking right outside my bedroom window, and most importantly, inappropriate breaches of privacy, and the fact that they had also called me the night before and assured me that I would be refunded.
I called Shani to ask why he’d not refunded as previously promised, and was told that I didn’t have anything to worry about, I wouldn’t be getting refunded, that I hadn’t listened to him, that they hadn’t re-let the room, and that every other guest there was fine. He refused to acknowledge that sharing another guest’s information was a privacy issue, and when our phone call escalated to the point where I stated directly to him that he was dishonest and had lied about the complaint, he even then admitted doing this during the conversation, as though he felt that it was just my word against his.
I’ve requested Booking.com escalate this matter to investigate the property, and either refund or credit me, as I not only was advised by them at the time of my complaint, not to stay at the property, but was also advised that I would be refunded in full.
I may or may not be refunded or credited, however I feel obligated to warn other potential guests regarding this property’s incorrect advertising, appalling treatment of guests’ privacy, and outright dishonesty that their staff exhibit when dealing with legitimate consumer issues.
