Came down with friends for the race and this place was perfect for us. Close to the starting line and had all the amenities we needed.
The porch with the rockers over looking the ocean was the highlight!! Would definitely stay here again!

This stay was everything we wanted and more! Right on the ocean, the view was fantastic! Walking on the beach everyday was just what we wanted to do, very calming. The Boy of Summer house was exactly as described and pictured, you will not be disappointed. The town was beautiful to drive around and while (in January) a lot of restaurants were closed for off season, the places we went to were great. You can be confident of getting exactly what you want booking this house!

We very much enjoyed this cozy beach house! We are two couples, so it was wonderful to give each couple their own bed/bath area. The location is perfect! We found plenty of restaurants, beaches, and fun at this house. We also spent many hours just sitting on the porch watching the waves. Thank you for the full-size w/d! That’s a huge bonus!

We loved every minute. The house was beautiful! We enjoyed the proximity of the shops and places to eat. The views from the bedrooms and living room were amazing. Luckily, the weather was nice, so we enjoyed eating at the picnic table, rocking on the porch, walking the beach, and relaxing in the hammocks. Our hosts were quick to respond & always very friendly. It was our first visit to Oak Island, and we loved it!

Great, relaxed space to hang out right on the beach! You could hear the waves at night from two of the bedrooms. Our pup loved the fenced-in yard and pet-friendly stretch of beach!

This beach house gave us everything we were hoping for from our vacation. It was comfortable, cozy, and airy, with a layout that offered some alone time when we needed it. Best of all was its spot on the beach. Swimming often was effortless, and we got to experience lovely sunrises and sunsets every day. Just sitting on the porch watching a storm blow in felt special. We had one small need during our stay, and the hosts couldn't have been more responsive. Loved it.

The *boys of summer* was an ideal spot for our family beach time at the gorgeous oak island — we came with our 9&11 year old kiddos plus an uncle and a set of grandparents. We loved cooking in the kitchen, eating out on the deck, taking afternoon snoozes on the hammock. Being right on the beach with an easy access was ideal - while also being in walking distance to the grocery store, beach store and of course the donut & ice cream shops.
Comfortable beds & linens, shower towels, and a great living room meant we were more than comfortable throughout our stay. Hope to return again next year!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Boys of Summer rental! Our family gathered together and enjoyed a fantastic vacation. The house, amenities and location were just what we needed for our week-long vacation. Four generations were able to enjoy time together and our Gram says the location was "glorious"! We showed up to check in and the cleaner told us the A/C was broken. The property owner already knew since the cleaner had called and there was someone out to fix it within an hour. After that was fixed the place was great. There is a significant slope, but that is probably just part of building a house on sand. The beach access is easy and having a fenced in yard made letting the dog out a breeze. Also, being able to walk to get ice cream or a Publix sub makes this a great location.

Our vacation included daughter, grandsons and their wife, fiancée and a friend. The beach house was perfect for our stay. Just steps from the beach and close to grocery store and restaurants. Loved it and will definitely return.

The Boys Of Summer is my idea of the perfect beach house. It is not a brand spanking new house overpowering the coastline with its size. It is a Cozy Comfortable Hug kind of a house.
Mike and Chris have created a “make yourself at home” retreat. We spent hours in the rocking chairs on the front porch enjoying the magic of Oak Island. The fenced in yard was perfect for our senior chihuahuas.
I have already booked for next year. Enough said!❤️

Location was great and the owner was responsive. Listing was accurate. The inside was a little tired and could use some updating. The door to the unit needs to be replaced so that it stays shut.

This is a very cozy beach house. The views cannot be beat. The two decks, one covered and one lower deck, we use them both extensively. Inside was very roomy for the 10 of us. The decor was whimsical and beachy in every room which was fun. We rented this place specifically because we were bringing six kids ages 4-13 (and a dog) and we wanted to be comfortable not worrying about them touching things or getting sand on things or laying around on furniture. So this was perfect. The 4 adults were also very comfortable there. The plan is to spend all day on the sand! then the back porch looking at the ocean. If your plan is to be comfortable and enjoy ocean views, this is your place! Hosts are excellent in responding to questions. We had a little drama with the living room TV and he got back to me immediately and stayed talking to me until the problem was solved! Also responding quickly when I asked for suggestions for seafood. The beach itself is extremely clean the sand is white and soft. The ocean was clean no rocks or hard shells to have to navigate. It was our first time there and we will definitely be back.

It was only a quick cleaning that had been done! The shower door still had soap all over it and the refrigerator still had leftover food in it. We quickly got to work on our own cleaning. I have a small grandson and so we always check around just to make sure nothing is in the floor that he could put in his mouth before we let him play. It really needed a cleaning! Luckily I had brought sheets and towels because there was only eight towels there and the house slept ten. The A/C never would cool below 78 during the day. I asked about this and was told to keep the blinds closed to keep cool, (so why be ocean front if you can’t see it)? The worst part was ants and gnats were all over the sink and bar. I figured out it was the sink disposal drawing them in so we had to keep the sink seals in the drains, that helped. The house pictures are very deceiving

Amazing family vacation spot
We very much enjoyed our stay at “Boys of Summer”. It’s hard to beat the combination of easy oceanfront beach access, convenient fenced in yard for pets, and the beautiful rocking chair front porch! We also enjoyed the shaded hammocks underneath the house. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, and the owners were very responsive when we texted them to ask a couple questions about the property before our arrival. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to spend time in Oak Island!

We had a slight issue with the ac but that could have been because we'd never used a best before, or maybe not, but the ceiling fans helped. This house is a wonderful beach front house to rent! Our kids enjoyed the hammocks and the fence area was great for the dogs.

Perfect ocean front location!
The location of this home couldn't be better. There are great ocean views from the two-tiered front porch. We spent a lot of time on the comfy rocking chairs and loungers watching the waves and seeing occasional dolphins. There are two vacant lots to one side of the house, which means an unobstructed view of the sunset from the porch. The direct beach access from a gate off of the fenced in area was very convenient. Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and shops. This is an older home, and it's showing its age a bit inside, but it was comfortable and had all of the necessary amenities. The porch, view of the ocean, fenced in area, and proximity to the beach are what really make this place special.

Really lovely property
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Boys of Summer. There are so many things that made this a great place to stay. The fenced yard is a game changer for those of us with dogs. It made it so easy and my dogs loved having freedom from leashes. They also loved staying out on the deck and watching people stroll by and soaking up the sun. Since there are gates on the deck, I didn't have to worry about them wandering off. I also loved that there was only one flight of stairs and the house was one level. No stairs to climb once inside the house. When you are older with mobility issues, this is huge. I also loved that both the front bedrooms have ocean views so I didn't have to fight with my sister over who got the ocean room. LOL The house is in such a great location. Very close to restaurants and grocery stores but the house area is very quiet. It's the most relaxing place I've been to so far on the NC coast. Everyone I met in Oak Island was so nice and friendly. We are already making our plans to go back to BoS next year and plan to stay longer this time!

Great view and location
We've stayed here multiple times and have booked it for next year also. It's just a comfortable place to stay when away from home. Our dog loves the fenced in yard and all those new smells!
It's just a great place to enjoy the sun and surf. Owners are very responsive to any needs or questions. Just a text away.
