We had an exceptional stay at Finca La Carmelita, a farm-boutique hotel outside the city of San Rafael. It is close enough to the city that one can benefit from all the amenities San Rafael has to offer but far enough away that one is in the middle of the vineyards and one has the feeling of being out in the country. The rooms are modern, spacious and clean. The service is warm, friendly and almost family-like. Leonora, the owner/manager of the hotel, and her father, Federico Román, are attentive and present, always ready to help out with guidance and advice. Meals are prepared by Alejandra Luna, a friendly and first class cook, who early in the day offers guests a several items from which to choose from. If your plan is to find a comfortable, friendly, fairly-priced location from which to visit the sights and vineyards in Southern Mendoza province, I would be hard pressed to recommend anything other than a stay at La Carmelita.

Peaceful environment among its vinyards and orchards, wonderful hosts who were accommodating and knowledgeable for other activities. Rooms are comfortable with a private patio. Meal options were very good--homemade fresh and original dinners and breakfasts, lots of products were from the farm itself. They have a menagerie of well behaved and friendly criters, horses, llamas, dogs.... The host and all the staff treated us like family in a professional manner!
