A very clean and well maintained home with a unique floor plan with lots of room. There are more than enough dishes so we only ran the dishwasher when we left after 3 nights. GORGEOUS view of the marsh and the public beach access is just two houses down the road. We had 4 adults and three kids and were very comfortable. We had a relaxing, comfortable stay at Sunset Song. The house is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, very clean and just steps from the beach. There’s an outdoor shower to clean off when you get back. The marsh view from the rear living room is beautiful. The rooftop deck is what drew us to this rental, and the view from there is great. We weren’t able to enjoy it much because of gnats and mosquitoes, unfortunately, but some bug spray would probably do the trick if you’re into that. It does have an odd layout where you have to walk through one bedroom to get to another and through two bedrooms to get to the back living room with the marsh view, the room featured in the listing. It wasn’t an issue for us but good to know if you wouldn’t be comfortable with that. It’s about a mile west of the lighthouse, which makes for gorgeous sunrise walks.

The house worked great for our 2 family (8 people) stay. The best part is the upper deck for views of the marsh area at sunset and also some views of the ocean which is nice for sunrise. Quiet area near the east end of Folly Beach. Also has a covered porch for sitting out of the sun or during rainstorms. Large tables in the kitchen area made ease for large gathering at meal time. Two separate living rooms work well if people are into different TV shows or activities. The house layout does have two bedrooms where you need walk through for access to the back living area. Was not an issue for us. Outdoor shower and spray area for returning from the beach. Lot of parking available. Also very close access to beach. Probably about a 100m walk.

Nice house, but could use some work, the rug that was in the kitchen would slide around when you stepped on it so when i moved it there was a pile of dirt under it like it is never moved to be swept under, the hot water in the kitchen really didn't work and took forever to get warm (never really got hot just warm), there was no access to the washer and dryer (i was assuming they were in a down stairs room witch was locked and no keys were provided) the driveway is hard to find especially in dark since there is no address marker at the beginning of the driveway, the trees need trimmed so you can see to get out of the driveway, the key entry code was wrong when we arrived and it took an hour to get in since they sent someone to a wrong house (sent him to a house in Florida!!!) to help us get in! we were atleast reimbursed a little for that but an hour is a little extensive for a key code... on a positive note, the house was pretty well stocked with plenty of cookware and dishes but we most likely will not stay at this property again

We love the views from the sun deck in the evening. Perfect sunsets and you can see for miles. Beach access is only two house down.

The house is right across the street from the beach. The kitchen itself seemed a little dated, other than that it had everything we needed.

This is the perfect vacation home! The layout, amenities and roof deck is absolutely fantastic!

Challenging to get into

We enjoyed the beautiful house and view. It was a everything we imagine spending time with family and friends.

While adequate, it was not as nice as the house we reserved where we had stayed before but Avocet did as well as they could. Good location though.

I called to check on the status of our home a few days before and was informed that everything was great. When we arrived at check-in we were given keys and sent on our way. When we arrived at the house there were workers fixing the whole screen porch and installing new electrical and washer/dryer in downstairs. I wish someone would of told us to be expecting these people to be at the house. Also they left and we had to place all the furniture back on the porch ourselves. When we went to use the washer/dryer the day before our departure we discovered that they were not installed properly and did not work. We placed a call before the office closed and were told to expect a return call. We never got a return call so I called the after hours people and they said they would leave a message but there was really nothing they could do. I am very disappointed. This was a promised amenity and it should of been working. I also think if a person calls to check on the house as stated to do on your website and emails you should inform them of the true shape of the house. It would of been very nice to know what we were walking into.

The screened porch and rooftop deck are wonderful for relaxing and enjoying a beer or glass of wine! The rooftop deck also has amazing views! The house is conveniently located across the street from beach access. The only issues we had with the house was a broken lamp in the living room as well as the ceiling fan (in the living room) that is extremely wobbly and could not be used. There are also several broken blinds throughout the house that the owner should fix. But these were just minor issues! The staff from Avocet was very accommodating and helpful! We are already planning a return trip for next year!

The screened porch is about 3 times larger than the picture looks and there is a huge roof top deck overlooking the marsh that is not even shown in any of the pictures.
