Great location, lovely bright, clean bedroom, bathrooms and kitchen. You get your own shelf, cutlery, crockery and glasses, food drawer and allocated bit of fridge in the kitchen and there's loads of room in there. There's a lounge you can eat or hang out in if you want to. The staff were really nice and the pub downstairs is friendly and nobody bothers you if you're alone. Never had to wait for the bathroom so no problem with not having an ensuite. Bus terminal is right opposite and the cool arcade with antique shops, AJ's diner and the wee museum is just around the corner.
Nobody showed me the kitchen and lounge so it was as well I remembered it was there. I'm not really complaining though because the guy who showed me my room carried my bag upstairs! The pie and mash isn't £6.99 either, which I think it was in the pictures on Booking.Com. I couldn't get Netflix or iPlayer on the tele because it wouldn't connect to the internet but I didn't ask anyone for help and I'm not a tele user usually, so I'm not really complaining about that either. Maybe some instructions would have been handy.

The staff were lovely, and the venue is a great and safe space for veterans. The room was bigger than expected and comfortable, with good facilities. The location was also great, and we had lovely sea views.
It was far too noisy (and this comes from someone who lives in a noisy bit of London). I completely respect that downstairs is also a bar, but I don't think it is appropriate to loudly play live music late into the night when you also house a hotel above you. This kept us awake and made the stay much less comfortable. I think the hotel should make potential guests aware of this and soundproof the rooms better or think through how to make this work for hotel guests, as having both doesn't work - it literally felt like music was being blasted inside our room (even the floor was vibrating). There was also no soap in either of the dispensers.

Great location and excellent value for money. As I travel to the island often visiting my son this was reasonably priced and comfortable.
It is noisy on the front but I was aware of this, it didn’t ruin my holiday as I sleep like a log but the early morning hovercraft starting up woke me at 5-6am

Another great stay! Very pleasant check in staff.
Shame the bar doesn’t do any real ale - I had to spend my money elsewhere. The sash window in my room was broken and wouldn’t stay open on a stuffy summer night. A piece of wood or something would be useful to trig it open?

The noise at night was quite loud as over a pub and directly opposite the bus station and hover station. No internet.

The view from the bed overlooking the beach and pier was amazing and by far the best thing this place had to offer. It would really be hard to beat in terms of view and location. It's just minutes from all the restaurants and cafes in town.
We didn't know when booking that the pub downstairs would have live bands, the noise during the performances was impossible to avoid from the room, so if you're not into live music plan to be out during the evening/night!
The fire alarm went off in the evening so we and the other guests had to evacuate, we discovered that the alarm had been triggered by the smoke machine in the pub downstairs.

Lovely bright clean room (room 6), with a sea view. It’s a budget hotel and perfect for a night or two away. Lots of nearby places to eat.

There are a lot steep stairs and the curtains are a little thin.

Very thin curtains, meant light from the street opposite came in and woke me up at 5 am.
WiFi was down the first night and very temperamental throughout which was a big issue as I was working here.

Another very pleasant stay at The Marine and it’s had a nice refurb since my last visit with new carpets and decor. Comfy room and bed. Bathroom was spotless - very roomy and well equipped. Easy check-in with convivial staff. Perfect location for transport hubs and
overall I’d say it’s excellent value for money!

Location was perfect for what we wanted.
We didn't like that fact we had no idea about a live band that was playing as I would never have booked it with my medical condition, saw nothing on booking site to say there might be . The windows were rattling and the noise was awful also smoke machine set all the fire alarms off in the hotel and it didn't finish when we were told it would.

that they had karaoke and the bass was booming through the floor till midnight I would have thought we would have had a discount

Very clean and perfect location, very helpful team.
Would have liked to have been able to make a drink in the morning, there were no glasses in the room, but when asked for them, we were willingly given them. I think an antislip mat would be a good idea for the shower.
