They really thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Mirko was a fantastic host, very knowledgeable and helpful in every way. We were 2 couples and the space was perfect for that setup. The rooftop was a lovely place to watch the sunset and the hammocks got a lot of use on the balcony. There is a store right across the street which was super convenient. We were unfortunately in Belize when the sargassum(seaweed) problem was about the worst it has ever been. This made the beachfront unusable and the smell was nauseating but this was a problem along the entire coastline, not unique to here. We were glad that the house was so nice to spend time in when outside was unpleasant.

Location: Walking distance to grocery-liquor store, and many restaurants. The house is a vacationers dream with its large well stocked kitchen, spacious great room and 2 master bedroom bathroom suites. The large showers and spacious bathroom were a well-planned luxury. We could continue highlighting the many great features of (MYBH) as we had an unbelievable holiday and would recommend to anyone considering a vacation to Hopkins, Belize to book this property . This property is just as pictured! Absolutely beautiful house on the beach. Mirko met us at the house and gave us tour and was full of information. The house was stocked with everything we needed and more. The yard and beach in front of the property are cleaned up every other day. House was very clean. We felt completely safe in and around town (two females staying here by ourselves). We rented a car and drove from BZE airport but didn’t need the car around town at all. We walked everywhere. Grocery store is just around the corner. Mirko arranged several excursions for us to go snorkeling and cave tubing and was always available when we had questions. We stayed from September 1st-9th and some things in town were closed for off season. But the places we ate at were so good…Ella’s Cool Spot, Driftwoods, Thongs, Hopkins Smokey’s Grill were all great…Innie’s is very authentic and good. Enjoyed the drumming at Mel’s Diner and Driftwoods. We drove to The Big Dock for amazing shrimp ceviche. Everyone in town was friendly and welcoming. You won’t be disappointed with this property!

The locals were extremely friendly and welcoming. Mirko was very helpful & made sure that we had everything we needed. We had a last minute change with the number of house guests. Mirko was extremely accommodating with this change and we were very appreciative. The house was stocked with all of the essentials (pots, pans, utensils for the grill, other basic items, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent/dryer sheets, sunscreen, bug repellent). We went to many wonderful local spots-Driftwood, Peer’s Place, Coconut Husk. Also, Mirko was able to coordinate any excursions that we wanted-snorkeling, hiking, zip lining, etc. We can’t wait for our next visit!

My family of 4 started our trip in Hopkins at our stay at the Mellow Yellow. The house was exactly what we were looking for in terms of size and comfort. Mirko had stocked the fridge with some basic amenities upon arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking appliances and spices you needed. We were located in the center of town which was super convenient and walked to many local restaurants for our meals. Mirko was fantastic and helped arrange taxi service to and from the local airport and was very patient with us with flight time changes that we were not able to contact him about. We really enjoyed breakfast at Peers Place and fresh mango bread from the bakery that is next door. Overall, our stay was great and we plan to come back.

The property is beautiful and well stocked. We rented a property that Mirko has managed before and he is always wonderful and helpful. We hit all the delicious restaurants in town. Ella's The Coconut Husk The pizza place (so yummy!) The Mango Beach Bar yummy and funny! And Nice Cream! Just to name a few. We used the bikes to tour town so nice! We always rent a car so we went to Placencia, walked Botswana Rainforest and walked to the waterfall and went to our favorite chocolate plantation Xicacoa. Belize is a wonderful Country, Hopkins is a friendly village and the Mellow Yellow Beach House is perfect for a family vacation.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Mellow Yellow Beach House in Hopkins, Belize . The house is centrally located in Hopkins with a beautiful beach out front and a cabana for shade. We enjoyed many local restaurants within walking distance from the house , here are some of them...Thong’s Café, Peer’s Place, Ella’s Cool Spot, North Side Kitchen, Fred’s Lime Tree, Jalapeños, Queen Beans they were all very good and you have got to try Jashlenn’s bakery, she is always baking up something delicious . We walked the beach nearly every day, you can walk 2+ miles to the South or 1+ miles to the North. We also rode the bicycles that are included with the house to Big Dock and Lucky Lobster. Big Dock is a great place to go for the day. The grocery store is less than a half block away, there are also several local fruit and vegetable stands for anything you may need. My daughter and her family had stayed here and recommended Mellow Yellow and once we arrived I understood why. The location right on the beach was wonderful and the house was beautifully appointed with everything we could want. Hoping to return.

The house is great, has everything you need, and is perfectly located in the center of Hopkins. You can walk to restaurants and grocery stores; the beach is right there, and you can either sit in the sun or just watch it from the shade of the veranda; you can also see all kinds birds from the veranda. The property manager is friendly, competent and very responsive. We had a wonderful week in Mellow Yellow.

The property was exactly as pictured online. It was perfectly comfortable for our family vacation Dec 2019. We stayed for 7 nights with 5 adults in the mellow yellow house. With 2 bedrooms, and futon, we found it met our needs exactly. Mirko added a few Christmas decorative touches for us to enjoy which was a beautiful surprise. The house was well appointed and had everything we could have ever needed including hair dryer, blender, pots, pans, dishes and drinking glasses, tea kettle, water dispenser and beach towels. The location is central in Hopkins with a grocery store for food, snacks, liquor and beer only steps away. There were so many options for dining out just a short walk from the house as well as an ice cream shop and bakery. The beach was endless, the yard kept clean, and the property was raked every couple of days. Sea stars, sting rays, sand dollars and crab were seen daily in the shallow water in front of the house. We were delighted to see dolphins playing daily in the deeper water, as we drank our morning coffee on the covered varanda. Bring binoculars! We forgot. Definately the nicest house in this location.

We would recommend Mellow Yellow to anyone who wants to have a relaxing vacation at the beach. Swimming at 7:00 am in the warmest waters we ever experienced. Mirko, the property manager, was always available for any questions we had and provided us with valuable information about the area and which restaurants were best...and they were all good! Everything you'll need is in walking distance. Small town charm with friendly, polite people...

Our family had the vacation of a lifetime at Mellow Yellow! We had everything we needed, and Mirko even arranged for an air mattress for our son! The property is even more wonderful than the photos, and we loved being right in the village. The bikes were a great plus, and we had a blast riding to the Herbal Healers Tea House. Don’t miss Tina’s for breakfast! Thanks for everything!

Beautiful, very comfortable house in perfect location. Smack in the middle of the village, on the beach, and within a block of a small grocery store and fruit stand. Other grocery stores, restaurants, and bars are in easy reach. The house has good common space, a well-equipped kitchen, shady balcony with hammocks, roof deck. We were there in late July but didn’t need to use the A/C because the house is designed to catch the full benefit of the ocean breeze. (We did end up moving the futon in the living room closer to the screened doors at night.)

The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the quaint town of Hopkins. Wade our neighbor across the street is a wealth of information when it comes to local hangouts. Each night different restaurants share the crowds by offering different kinds of specials on food and drink. Logger Heads for supper is a must and one place has 9 holes of put- put along with great food and drink specials. Both of these are a must do. The short walk to the corner you will find Thong's Cafe which offers a great breakfast. The Jaguar park has a good tube ride in the river for cooling off. The Mellow Yellow property is so nice you may want to just hang out and chill. Thanks again for sharing your outstanding home!!!

This house has a fantastic layout for two couples. It is spotless and has all the kitchen gadgets you could possibly need. Lots of places to hang out, both in sun and shade. The ocean breezes keep it cool night and day. Well situated in the center of the village so you are close to all of the fantastic restaurants. The local Garifuna food is amazing and shouldn’t be missed. Thanks for sharing your house with us!

We just can't rave enough about Mellow Yellow Beach House, from the attentive service from Mirko and his staff to the amenities and beauty of the house itself. When we decided at the last minute that we wanted to go deep sea fishing, Mirko made it happen! The beach is beautiful, the outdoor shower is an added bonus! Spending the evenings sitting on the front deck with the breeze blowing off the ocean soothes the soul, star gazing on the rooftop was amazing! The little grocery store right behind the house was an added convenience, the people are so friendly! We attended Easter Vigil at the local Catholic Church and the people were so welcoming! If you are planning a vacation in Belize, the Mellow Yellow House is definitely the place to stay, all the conveniences of home (and more!) and immersed in the Belizean culture!

This was our first VRBO vacation experience and we were blown away with the quality of the home and friendliness of the people in Hopkins! We really appreciated all of the amenities provided in the beach house, from every appliance we could have needed to the amazing beach chairs and hammocks to relax and read or sleep in. We enjoyed the beautiful ocean views from the rooftop and balcony, as well as the gorgeous sand on the beach. We couldn't believe how warm (~80F) and clear that the sea water was and how shallow it was right in front of Mellow Yellow. Excellent for swimming and wading. Just remember to bring your bug spray as quite a few sand flies (or no-see-ums) in the area. As mentioned in other reviews, there are many dogs that run free in the village, but we found them to be very friendly. All of our travel and tour arrangements were promptly and capably handled by the property manager, Mirko. All of the staff and drivers that we met were also very friendly and helpful. We went on tours to Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve where we hiked up to the waterfalls on Tiger Fern Trail (fairly strenuous), the Western Mayan Ruins (very impressive) as well as Mary Sharps Hot Sauce Factory. All were fun and interesting! There are many good local restaurants within walking distance. Some we tried include Geckos, Driftwood Pizza (Tuesday night drumming), Tina's Kitchen, Ella's Cool Spot, Innies, Thongs, Windschief (great music Fridays) and a great dining experience at Hamanasi Resort. Fish and seafood choices were always amazing as were the Belikin beer! We enjoyed the location within the village of Hopkins. Keep in mind that Belize is a developing country , but the simple, laid back lifestyle of the locals makes Mellow Yellow Beach House in Hopkins a fantastic vacation experience!

The house is beautiful. it looks just like the pictures. We were very comfortable. Being on the beach was amazing, particularly for midnight swims. The town is small - mostly dirt roads. We felt very safe and people were very friendly. Belize is a developing country, particularly in a small town like Hopkins. We appreciated being able to disconnect from the busy tech connected world. The grocery stores were small 4 isle and had either canned goods or very fresh produce. Restaurants were several tables in front of a home kitchen. Dinner menu depended on what was available at the markets and produce stands. One of our favorite memories was watching a kid run in with a bag containing a blender from the local store in order to prepare our pina coladas. As alluded to in other reviews, Mirko is not only a property manager, but is very happy to arrange transfers and excursions. We were very pleased with all that he arranged. We loved being picked up on the beach outside of our house by a private boat for our snorkeling excursion. Hopkins is about 2 1/2 hours by car and 15 minutes by prop plane. We drove from the airport to Hopkins so that we could see the country and flew back to maximize time in the country. In summary, Mellow Yellow is an amazing house on the beach in a remote town. It is a great place to get away. We hope to go back!

Our experience with the mellow yellow cabana was great. The house is spectacular!! Pictures are accurate. Some eateries and food store across the street. The town is very quiet and rural. All dirt roads, no gas station, have cash many eateries here don't take credit cards. Mirko set up our snorkeling trip which was fantastic with knowledgeable people. Many sweet stray dogs on/near property. Safe area.

This beach house is absolutely amazing and so is the house manager Mirko! Myself and two girlfriends rented this house for week and our vacation was absolutely perfect. We all loved the village! The grocery store directly across the street was very convenient! But you won't need to do a lot of grocery shopping because all of the restaurants in the village are outstanding! We took the golf cart down the road to "resortville" one day and decided that wasn't for us! I would recommend to anyone to stay in the village! Lastly, I've rented from VRBO a couple times before and I have never experienced such an amazing house manager! Mirko was always available and helped us with EVERYTHING! Look no further ... you have found the perfect home to rent in Hopkins, Belize :)!!
