Fantastic and cosy location, with the comfiest beds I've ever had in a Hostel. Staff were lovely, as were the other guests who were mostly from a more family/older background.
Perfectly situated for everything in Cheddar
No complaints

Great location. Good for kids
It is not clear that the latest check in is 8.30pm. the staff kindly stayed for us till 9pm. But there needs to be a text sent out saying alongside the fact we need ID, that latest check in is 8.30pm. On a Friday eve after work with bad traffic it is almost impossible to reach the hostel from the south East (Brighton). We had to leave work early as we called up to check if we could safely store bikes. Reception warned us then that the latest we could arrive was 8.30 only when we called up. wlWe then drove with 2 small children in rain. We had an awful journey thinking we would be homeless that evening if we did not make it in time. We made it for 9.04. The staff on reception told us this happens almost every evening. Head office need to change this. It was not safe making guests rush to get there, especially with small children in the car. Rain and rushing on a Friday eve on the motorway felt very un safe. This policy needs to change.

Excellent location. Clean room. Good kitchen for self catering. The English breakfast and continental breakfast was ok. There was enough and cooked fresh which was nice.
The fruits that were provided for breakfast looked liked out of date and very poor quality. Few coat hangers in the room would have been very useful.

Opted for the continental breakfast, which was quite filling.

Centrally located, free parking, decent sized rooms, good seating area, good facilities. Cheddar Village and the Gorge only 20 min walk. Nice pubs and shops in the village.
I found the room to be too hot, didn't sleep particularly well. The mattress was plastic coated and very sweaty!

Just what we needed.
Check-in times could be altered, or a self check-in system?

Basic but had everything I needed. Comfy , clean and breakfast was good value for money. Would stay again definitely.
Nothing I didn't like about it.

Very good location. Didn’t have breakfast.
Mattress comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and clean. Facility to fill our water bottles.
Bunk beds were okay, though one of them tilted whilst trying to climb to the top bunk. The window sills had not been cleaned. The shower rooms could do with being somewhat roomier.

We got there before 5pm and it was closed. We couldn't wait in the waiting room. We had to stay inside the car in heavy rain. The parking lot was flooded and we had to take our shoes off to get out of the car and into the YHA.
The place is quiet, it is divided into 2 houses, the largest one has a huge dining room with large windows and lots of natural light, a huge kitchen and a large living room. The small house has a large kitchen and a medium-sized dining room and living room. Outside the big house, in the background there is a neglected garden, with some chairs and tables.
My bedroom for 2 had 4 beds (2 bunk beds) that are very low to sit comfortably in bed without bumping into the one above. The bedroom was small for 4 people. It is barely sized for 2 adults or 2 adults and a child at most. I went on a weekday and there were few people and it was quiet, but I think it wouldn't be very pleasant if it was full.
The place is to spend a night and visit the Cheddar caves. 2 days earlier I paid the same (£49 per night) to stay in a nearly new Travelodge for 2 nights as a base to visit Bradford On Avon and surrounding areas in Melksham. The hotel is much better and much more comfortable for two adults for the same money, in addition to having a private bathroom. I don't want to imagine what the shared bathrooms will be like in this YHA when there are a lot of people, since it seems that there are only cleaning staff in the morning and 3 hours in reception in the afternoon. I want to clarify that in my stay the bathrooms were clean, I cannot complain about this and general cleanliness.
The bedroom had carpet, and you know what happens to a carpet when everyone comes in with shoes. Old stains that are difficult to remove make them ugly. They should put a floor that is easy to clean.
Small room, low bunk beds. Parking flooded.
