The property was good , staffs were super nice and great service but the bed was so hard like a solid piece . It’s not comfortable at all, when you come to a hotel like Gateway with an expectation of great sleep , it didn’t happen for me.

Everything about the hotel is nice. Good food, good service, well appointed rooms, great breakfast. It is an old property ... so one can see the signs of ageing here and there.

We’ve stayed at the Gateway many times, every year for the past four years. It’s located in a quiet area with some new coffee shops and eateries nearby. Buffet breakfast is great. The service is impeccable, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The large pool is fabulous. It’s has an old world charm and guests are made to feel valued. A special mention for Tijo duty manager. We shall be back

stay was ok, but the restaurant service should be improved. there was a lady who wont smile at all and to me that is a big thing when i am in a restaurant. the security and front office staff are really courteous

The staff ensured that the room is kept ready without any delay. I checked in little late in the night and the entire check in process was seamless.

All staff members were friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good.

The hotel is old, and the rooms are now showing the age. Checked in late – the next morning spent a couple of hours getting the room fixed. Broken hand faucet, Fridge not working, tea coffee maker not working etc etc. On the positive side, housekeeping was very responsive and kept fixing everything once I pointed out to them. I really hope the hotel management fixes the hotel because at heart this is a good hotel.

It was an absolutely wonderful stay. It has a resort kind of feel and the Taj hospitality is always one of the best. I cant find a single negative point to mention here.

Let us start with check in, we were delayed to get in to our vasco da gama suite by on end half an our. That is 3.30pm.we waited from 2.45 in the lobby ,luckily and generously they showed us the rest roomin thefoir for temporary relief..as we planned to enjoy the local cuisine we did not dare to try the food from taj. We had to face a few hooligans from the bar blocking our entry at the gates of gateway taj Calicut which is a narrow one so that ,at a time one vehicle can pass..and they were letting exit it through the same entry gate even though there was an exit gate which is permanently closed .reported the abuse and threatening experienced to the administrator /manager ,received with lesser enthusiasm.. We fled early in the morning feeling disappointed.

The hotel has changed so much for the better since we last visited.Please keep up the great work.

Our stay was delightful. Because we were there for a wedding, we unfortunately did not make use of all their many services. The pool was clean and very pleasant. The food was very varied and delicious. The service was excellent. They served us some very special entrees unique to the region. So Wonderful! The bed was very comfortable. We used the cleaning service and were very pleased with their efforts and timing. The front desk was very warm and professional. Their attention to details was exceptional. Their helpful tips made our beach and shopping times effortless. Security was professional and very kind. We highly recommend this hotel. Lovely setting, clean and comfortable room, delicious food, many services, and especially for the kind, thoughtful and professional staff. We look forward to another stay.

The staff was very nice, the Chef went out of his way to make us a cake at the last minute for a birthday we were attending and the entire restaurant staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was excellent too. However, the room was a little disappointing. the mini-bar was empty, house-keeping had not attended to our room until 4pm in the afternoon, and fittings like faucets, shower heads etc in the bathroom were obviously very old and not properly maintained. The pool too was not available as the circulation equipment was out of order and the water had taken on a scarily green hue. All in all, it was a decent stay made better by the staff and the food.

First of all the contact phone number listed on Expedia itenarary was incorrect. I visited hotel's website on my smartphone and got the correct phone number. Though I stayed there for only one night, I had a great time at Taj Gateway Hotel located on P.T.Usha Road, Calicut. Even though it is not a beach resort, the hotel is just 5 minutes walk from Calicut beach. Being a 5 star hotel, the facilities and services offered are of high international standards which we can expect from Ratan Tata's Taj group of hotels. The hotel staff were very helpful and always smiling. They have a nice Ayurvedic massage and treatment center. Hot buffet breakfast is served in morning and really loved the uthappams and vattayappam. The chef personally came and inquired about the quality of food, and if I required anything of my choice. I felt as if I was some celebrity or a prince. regarding the swimming pool I think the water had too much chlorine content and my eyes had a burning sensation as soon as I got into the pool water.
