Staff was friendly, but despite requesting a touch up of the room two days in a row it never happened. I was in the back detached house, which was adorably decorated, and I made good use of the claw foot tub. The downside, being basically surrounded by parking lot.

The Holbrooke Hotel is beautiful. The rooms were very clean and the staff were so nice and welcoming. The food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious and the ambiance was amazing. The customers varied in ages and aesthetic making the space very welcoming and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and extremely helpful! We stayed in the Purcell King and it was peaceful. We didn’t have issues with noise (but I also sleep with ear plugs). I knew there wasn’t a tv when I booked, and my boyfriend and I enjoyed not having it. I didn’t have to deal with neighbors blasting their tvs! It was truly a wonderful and perfect stay, we will be coming back for sure!

Very nice stay in downtown Grass Valley - the property has lots of character

The offer I booked did not match the stay. We were not in the main hotel but in a building across the parking lot. There was construction noise that started at 7:30 in the morning. Room was nice but no tv or control for the heat in the room.

This was my first time staying at this hotel. It was amazing! I highly recommend staying here. The staff are very friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable. I will definitely be staying here again.

This was our first time to Grass Valley and the Holbrooke Hotel. It came highly recommended by a friend. The property, amenities and restaurants/bars were great! Onsite staff were also wonderful! From the check-in to room requests and the interactions with servers/bartenders - all were wonderful! The only complaint we have is regarding the room temperatures/thermostat. You can't adjust the temperature in your room as there was no thermostat. Nor were we able to open our windows as they were painted shut. It was very hot in our room and due to this we didn't get much sleep. In addition, all should be aware about booking through a 3rd party. In booking our reservations through a third party, we were placed in the Pursell House and not the main Holbrooke building. This is not something that is correctly described when booking on 3rd party sites. It is correctly described on the Holbrooke's website. In addition, you are charged a $15 amenity fee onsite if booking through a 3rd party which adds to the cost. Best to book directly with the Hotel!

I was expecting a walk in shower while walking in the room but to my surprise there was a bathtub with shower that was very small. The tub was also very slippery and im worried someone my get injured. A pillowcase had mold on it. I tried sleeping in until 10 am but it was so loud in the hall and you can hear everything going on. I would recommend the National Exchange hotel over this hotel.

We have stay here before always staying in Main building, this time we stayed in the cottage in the back. Very comfortable and clean. They seemed to bend over backwards for us. Grassvalley was busy with the holiday festivities but they were able to get us in for dinner with out having reservations. Super professional and hospitable. We will definitely be back.

We have had a great stay! The staff was super friendly. The room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The shower and bathroom were very clean. It is nice to have a bar and restaurant located within the hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located by lots of shops and places to eat. It is all within walking distance. Even the movie theater is just a brisk walk away. Would highly recommend this hotel and highly likely that we will be returning as guests!!

A great piece of history. Rooms spacious, beds comfy, bathroom so nice. Had the vibe that I had gone back in time. Loved that so much looked and felt “old” but had been maintained so well. Staff am wonderful. Would go back here anytime that I’m in the area.

Beautifully restored property with exceptionally trained personnel. Light, airy and clean room. Safe and convenient parking. Numerous dining options and historic and fascinating sites within walking distance. Will come back!

Hotel is located in the center of historic downtown Grass Valley, CA. The building, the service, the room, the cleanliness, the location -- everything was superb.

Everything was wonderful

Driving through the area without a place to stay we found a last minute reservation at Holbrook… hit the jackpot. We loved every second of our stay.

This was a perfect overnight for attending a concert in Grass Valley. Just a block from the venue, nice dinner menu and cocktails, and a lovely patio that happened to feature a Celtic music group that evening.

What!? a hygiene fee for each night? Just raise your prices be honest not deceptive. Need a wine opener? Front desk will definitely sell you one but do not expect one in your room. Hope you do not want ice very challenging to find hit a 7-11 before you get here. No wine glasses either. Restaurant is awesome, restaurant staff is great- I was expecting a much higher experience in my room for the price they charge.

This property is well decorated but not up to the level of amenities and service that we were expecting at all. It’s a very old building with thin walls and while it’s been repainted and updated, it didn’t feel high quality. There was a wedding at the property so our entire stay was dominated by wedding guests and noise. We were there for our anniversary hoping to have a relaxing night and the hotel did not let us know this event would be happening. There were drunk guests taking shots and yelling right outside our door for most of the evening from 4-30-6:30. Then after dinner we came back and the music (“shots shots shots!”) was blasting so loud downstairs that it was rattling our windows and we could hear every word and scream. They told us it would be moved to the basement at 9:30pm. It was not. The hotel offered us complimentary dessert to make up for it which was laughable. We had to leave the property and find a new place at 10:00pm and the music was still blasting. Overall, super disappointed and will never attempt to stay here again.

It was fine

Very little parking so you are not guaranteed a spot. No one answers the front desk phone. Back building has very thin walls and shakes when anyone opens a door. If you are on the ground floor plan to listen to plumbing in walls when someone flushes a toilet. Grounds are well kept. Wait staff is excellent.

Service at the restaurant a little slow. No closet to hang clothes in room.

The hotel is located in the heart of town, within walking distance of shops and a variety of eateries to suit one’s palate and budget. Joachim, the front desk clerk, was very welcoming. After 4 hours on the road, I looked forward to a good night’s sleep, which is not always attainable for me, especially in an unfamiliar setting. However, the bed and bedding felt comfortable and fresh. I would give the room top rating for cleanliness. The decor of the room was simple but elegant, in the theme of gold country era, with romantic tones. I had to bring my little Maltese with me and greatly appreciated that it was dog friendly. The stay at Holbrook with its friendly staff helped put me at ease since I came for personal business.
