Hotel in great location in centre of Funchal. Staff were brilliant throughout. Rooms were a good size and bathroom area large, minor issue with glass fronted toilet door, could close but no lock and gaps around door. Not happy that whilst tea and coffee facilities provided, charge of 1 euro for replacement tea bag & coffee tube meant we simply purchased our own at vastly reduced cost at supermarket located next door in shopping centre. Overall had a fantastic stay, didn't have to check out of room until 12pm & allowed to use shower facilities in Spa as weren't leaving hotel until 6pm so enjoyed a great final day around the pool.

This hotel is excellent!! Brilliant location, super helpful and lovely staff. Breakfast was great. Pool/spa and treatments - all amazing!! Dinner in the restaurant was also excellent. I can not recommend this place enough and I will definitely stay here again.

Nice stay, great service to f the staff.
The room was very nice and comfortable, and on the other hand very noisy - the glasses needed to be replaced to a double glass to prevent the noise.

Thankfully I found the hotel parking and a very friendly hotel staff met me in the car park to help with luggage. That was very thoughtful as it is tricky to find your way to the hotel lift and across a courtyard to the hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. Wasn't a big fan of the lava pebble floor in the bathroom area...hard on the feet. The breakfast options and food was amazing. Very friendly morning staff. The only disappointment was the rooftop pool was closed - they gave a very limited voucher for a drink. I had a massage at the spa on a day it rained. The spa staff were not very friendly - the massage was just ok. The therapist had no personality and seemed to be just going through the motions until her time was up. The spa does not meet a 5 star hotel standard. The location is fantastic for walking to get anywhere for food, drinks, shopping, tours. Did not dine at the rooftop restaurant.

Outstanding property! The staff were always pleasant and helpful, the restaurant was 5 star all the way. It was perfectly located for all the main restaurants, shopping and attractions.

Rooms are large but nonfunctional - a large bathtub with no privacy does not make sense. One bathrobe was dirty or stained and should never have been delivered to the room. Breakfast was very good - front desk very helpful. The location is perfect.

The staff were super nice and helpful. They even packed breakfast for us because our flight was leaving really early. The location is optimal if you want to stay in the Old Town. Nice shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Having a mall at the ground floor was a plus for late snacks and food.

Hotel probably furnished by an artist, with little practical knowledge. Beautiful rooms, but much wasted space (huge bath) and manual needed to control lighting!

Great stay - fantastic location with lots around. A very large selection available for breakfast each morning, we are both Vegan and they went out of their way to prepare us something. Service from checking in was outstanding, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately our return flight with easyJet was cancelled, we phoned the hotel who booked us a new room for the extra nights and helps arrange transport. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Funchal.

One Major flaw. The Vine is ultra-modern and beautiful, is in a great location and has a great breakfast. But if you arrive late at night or leave early in the morning-- as flights do with Madeira-- it can be a nightmare. I emailed ahead that I would arrive late and I told them we had 3 suitcases from 5 weeks of travel and I had back surgery so needed help with bags. But when you arrive in pitch dark, there is nothing but I shuttered pitch black shopping mall. Somehow you are supposed to find a small garage alley in the back and then wind through unmarked halls to come to a desk with 1 person who can't leave to help get your bsgs up or down. I had flagged the issue the prior night and was told I would be helped but Rymuben insisted he could not leave the front desk. A great place that needs to staff correctly and instruct them.

Overall a very nice property. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Property located walking distance to all of the nice restaurants and harbor. Breakfast was amazing. Property has coolers located on the floor that dispense both, sparkling and still water, at no charge. Hotel has on site parking even though getting from the parking garage to the main lobby is not the most convenient of paths. Rooms are clean and modern.

A "design hotel" with the theme "The Vine". Sometimes a little forced to stay focused. The lighting scheme certainly was complicated, but we finally got the hang of it. Same with the faucets and "waterfalls." Breathtaking views from the Rooftop Bar over Funchal. A spa for relaxing massages etc. in the basement. Nearby shopping (in fact in the same building), walking to parks and sites in Funchal. Perhaps a little overpriced.

Our 4th stay at this hotel, wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Madeira, staff are fantastic, location is perfect, rooms are great and the view from the rooftop is one of the best in Funchal

The hotel was fabulous. I can’t recommend it enough. The staff are so helpful and friendly, it’s within walking distance to everything and the rooftop terrace is amazing.

The room itself was tired and could do with a bit of a lift (bits in the room broken, paint chipped etc). Overall the pool area was nice and the breakfast was lovely with a large variety.
The parking could have done with explanation beforehand as it wasn't overly clear how to access the underground lot.
The gym is a company in the same building (so not the hotel itself) but meant it was bigger than the standard hotel gym, but was often very busy.
It's located a short walk to the shops, bars and restaurants of Funchal so great to stroll of an evening.

We always stay at The Vine on our frequent visits to Funchal.
The location is unbeatable, as are the staff. They even managed to get me a dental appointment within 4 hours of arriving at the hotel check in.
The hotel is modern, clean and in easy walking distance of everything in the centre and the old town.

Great location close to Old Town, dining options, shopping and taxi stand. The property is modern and hip, but a bit dark in common areas. Some say this is relaxing and it is, but I prefer a bit more illumination.
We has a Junior Suite and although spacious there was no table to eat or play cards and the bathroom sink had no space for our toiletries.

Rooms are very designer and not necessarily practical! A lot of water leakage when showering, shower door does not open over bath mat, lighting in room awful, no full length mirror. AirCon noisy. Light control panels difficult to see at night! Bath not usable because of design, just used it for stage space as not much storage for toiletries, make up ect.On the plus side staff were friendly and efficient. Good choices at breakfast. Comfortable sun loungers. Great location in La Vie Shopping Centre.

Pool is great. Spa is ok. The rooms need some updating and are not cozy. Needs new mattresses. Expect more of a Las Vegas feel. The light switches etc in the room are difficult. Kinda silly. Breakfast and service was good. Pool up top is incredible. It’s located in a mall and it’s not a cozy feel hotel. Staff is great helpful and friendly. Overall all good just know it’ll feel more like a Las Vegas hotel than a natural Madeira hotel

Liked the location, roof top pool, bar restaurant, and buffet breakfast. Disappointed in the room- so dark and poor lighting that you could not read in the room. Further, room looked into other rooms across an interior courtyard. Also not very functional rooms. No place to hang a robe or towel anywhere near the shower area. Poor wifi in breakfast area- often not available. Service spotty.

Beds were comfy and amazing. Toilet and bidet in bathroom was a bonus. Rooftop pool and view was amazing. Great drinks on rooftop. Location was ideal.
