Went for a work trip. I found the service in the food and beverage area appauling. Was pushed to pay the bill and service was very slow.

We had a fantastic stay at the Protea Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. It is in a great location. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time at the Protea Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although sometimes a little slow. We loved the ambience of the hotel and the spacious rooms, too. The only thing I'd like to see improved is the lighting in the rooms. It is very dimmed, especially in the bathrooms and over the beds. Otherwise, it was an amazing experience!

We also had dinner at the restaurant a couple of times and enjoyed the food there. Mosquitoes weren't a problem in the room. Our room had a mosquito net and insect spray which was reassuring. In the communal areas there were a few mosquitoes but it would be the same at most hotels in Livingstone I'm sure. The real stars of the hotel were its staff, in particular Richard and Henry. Both gentlemen worked in the restaurant and always had a smile on their faces. It's these smiles and service provided by the likes of Richard and Henry that make any travellers stay memorable. We were happy and satisfied with our stay at Protea Livingstone. We would return to the hotel due to its comfortable rooms and the superb staff.

The staff are both very competent and pleasant. Overall vet welcoming place to stay while seeing the sights. On location booking for anything and everything you’d want to do in Livingstone.

Lots of mosquitoes, which is normal maybe... but poor service / mindset to protect the customers against mosquitoes.

Love this location! Great home-base for all our activities but also a great retreat to relax after our many activities. We felt like movie stars, VIP treatment all the way.

Rooms are excellent ,well furnished and clean. Rooms are sprayed to deter mosquitos although sometimes a very sneaky one gets through. The pools is pleasant although we got bitten by mosquitos when swimming. The souvenirs sold by the hotel were far cheaper than at the airport or at other local shops and far better quality than the souvenir stalls around the falls. The hotel will book trips etc. We went on a small boat trip at lunchtime and it was excellent . Not only a good variety of birds, including a pair of fish eagles, but hippos , crocodiles, water monitors, and a number of elephants, including one herd swimming, with young, between islands.

Wonderful staff. It's comparable to a Hilton or Marriott. Food is awesome and reasonable. We had Staff knew who we were when we got to the desk. We stayed two nights. Wifii is excellent!!! bug spray is in the room and housekeeper was excellent. Beds are plush! Room rate was wonderful. Must go!!!

We enjoyed our stay and felt very welcomed by the warm and gracious staff. Close to Victoria Falls and could be picked up by shuttle for every attraction we went to. Great layout and format.

Two night stay in peaceful surroundings near the hot spot location of Victoria Falls. Excellent breakfast buffet and evening meal a delight with no need to venture out after dark.

This hotel needs a big grip. A world chain of hotels in an iconic situation, it clearly takes itself for granted. For an expensive hotel it produced poor food, indifferent staff, and a complacent attitude. Of course I would recommend it for others, but only just!
