Aircondition wasn’t functioning, loadshedding was also a problem and the hotel doesn’t provide alternative for the guests during these times. The guest is left on his own to remain in the dark rather than turning on a generator to keep their guest comfortable.
Basically, friendly are most of the staffs, from the cleaning staff to the bar‘s.
The reception staff need improvement on their customer service. However, a tall guy in the reception was very friendly and attended to my needs and as him do the same from guest that came from America but the ladies couldn’t be bordered. The ladies are just their for their wages and not to assist the guest.
The park attendant, was a pain inbrünstigere ass! Always wanting money after getting you a space to park and I don’t know if the hotel is aware.
The night wasn’t always quiet as you hear the noises of people ( definitely not guest) around midnight which disturb my sleep.
The area was very okay and accessible to many local stores and shopping mall-Norwood shopping mall.

Staff was ever ready to please. Close to many restaurants around the hotel. Hot water took a while to come on.

It was only for a night which I enjoyed. In terms of service it's not. Rooms large enough and relaxing. Enjoyed the choice of the shower or bath. A little tlc needed thou just to give it a cleaner look.

Very bad location, the internet does not work and did not solve the problem. Cost too high for hotel standard, ie cannot be considered four star.

Good value for the money. It is a contemporary resort. It has friendly service and a nice little restaurant on the premises.
What I cared least for was the neighborhood and noise.

The Room was clean and neat.. however there was no water in the room. When we request water it was closed.The shower drain is blocked. I forgot to mention it to the personnel. They need to give it attention. The parking area in the basin was really scary. I wont recommend that to anybody.The personnel was fantastic. both when we checked in and when we checked out the following morning. The breakfast was really delicious.overall we enjoyed the stay.

The main problem I faced was no dedicated parking for residents. The underground parking not conducive for large SUV

Our stay at Ascot, was comfortable. We had the standard rooms off the main entrance which were initially noisy due to the close proximity to local restaurants, this soon quitened as the night progressed. Breakfast was lovely and the staff most helpful. We found the hotel to be good value for money.

Nice, clean hotel in a safe neighborhood with many restaurants. Good breakfast and very pleasant staff. On check-in, they requested my credit card and then immediately charged me for 2 nights. I had to point out that I had already paid in full through Expedia.They immediately credited my Visa but just beware...

The hotel is on Grant Street and surrounded by a number of restaurants, shops, and close to a grocery and pharmacy. Head over to The Factory and the Fireside Bistro for upscale, but affordable, meals. You are a short walk from the satyagraha museum and an Uber ride gets you to museums, breweries, and more in only 15 minutes. You cannot go wrong by staying here.
I will be back in Joburg a few times over the next few years for work and will not stay anywhere else.

Nice clean room, had a nice driver named Raymond, breakfast came with the room and it was good. There is a mainstreet nearby that had many other restaurants, we went to the Ethiopian restaurant next door.

Hotel was very comfortable and very clean. Two things that are important to me is whether the beds are comfortable and the shower is great! The bed had clean white linen and was very comfortable. The shower was great except the first night there was no hot water as there was a problem with the geyser which was handled very well by the very friendly staff, Andre was very friendly and went out of his way to help.

Not sure if this applies to all rooms but only has a shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Not sure if this applies to all rooms but only has a shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only faults I would point out is the attention to detail in as far as our room tea and coffee, and the fact that two major ingredients for breakfast - salmon and pastrami - were not available. As advertised, the Ascot is a Boutique Hotel with only two floors of rooms. The Hotel is in the middle of Norwood which has a few eateries nearby. If you're a Muslim, you'd be happy to know that there were a quite a few Halal places there.
Check in was straightforward and the staff always ready to help and assist. The room was comfortable and clean. The bedding and towelling were great. Breakfast was made to order. They provided a menu of several things for breakfast and you can pick and choose which one you wanted.
The only disadvantage which didn't bother me but might bother some very light sleepers was that the windows easily let noises from the street outside.
All in all a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend.

Everything was fine with the rooms & the locality of the hotel. Breakfast had limited choice & the service was slow. We had other problems as well! We had 3 bookings & had booked 3 rooms in all 3 bookings, thro' expedia but the hotel did not have our first booking! The staff was kind enough to accommodate us with an upgrade. At the time of check out, we were asked to pay some nominal amount which I did not expect. Another day, we had asked for packed breakfast & at the last moment they coolly said that chef had not come yet & no breakfast was given! The management did not bother much when we complained!

We chose the hotel since I was visiting family in South Africa and wanted to stay close to where they live. The hotel is in a great location just off a buzzing street full of stores, coffee shops and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and professional and looked after all of our needs. The rooms were very well maintained and comfortable - lovely big bathroom as well. Our rate included breakfast which was served in the bar/dining area. Great selection of breakfast items and again the staff were amazing. The only drawback was the noise on some nights from the restaurant opposite the hotel but it was bearable. Biggest plus is the great selection of quaint stores, restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
