Very accommodating as we couldn't bring our car on the ferry. Hotel is directly across from Ferry and made it easy to get to.

The National is a great place to stay. Super location, very friendly and helpful staff, and very historic. The historic part is something you should understand before booking -- the hotel dates from the late 1800s, so the rooms are not like a modern hotel -- they are not as big or luxurious. But they are fine, especially because on Block Island you don't want to spend lots of time in your room anyway. The other possible thing to expect is some noise. The windows are not soundproof, and there are gatherings in the evening below the rooms.

For the age of the hotel, it was very well maintained and very clean. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was very accommodating with storing bags until our checkin time and then the day or departure as well as providing beach towels. There was life music every night in the back patio area. It is loud until 10:00-10:30 but we did not mind it as we heard it from our room and enjoyed it. Great location on the island- amazing food and drinks at the restaurant and bars downstairs. We will be back!

Staff and service was excellent. Only downside was rooms were a bit small. We stayed in a corner room which was a bit bigger and would highly recommend over the smaller rooms where our friends stayed. Also next time will need a fridge. .

The ambiance was great. The room was very small but quaint. Shower stall was so small you could not bend to wash your feet. We had a first floor (one flight up) room near the stairs. It was extremely noisy. The live entertainment could be heard until 11 pm and the partying afterwards went on until after midnight. So, there was not a restful night’s sleep during our 2 night stay. Food was also VERY expensive.

Great stay, fabulous location! Absolutely can’t beat the view and location, staff were friendly and helpful, ate all but one of our meals there as well and enjoyed them all! Looking forward to next trip there!

Great location and friendly helpful staff. Love the addition of A/C in the rooms. Only downside are the small rooms that are in great need of updating. However, when coming to Block Island, this is a great option.

We had a wonderful time. It's an old hotel, but that didn't bother us - it's just not updated. It's like staying at your aunt's cool old house by the sea. And easy to get around from the terrific location. If you need an elevator and super cool trendy stuff, it might not be for you - but we loved it.

Location was very convenient walking distance from the ferry. The staff was great we was able to check in early which saved us a lot of time. I know the hotel is historic and they are limited to what that can renovate. But the room was hot only a ceiling fan and a small table top fan. For the price of the room I would of thought it would have AC rather than a giant tv we didn’t even turn on. Thankfully it was only around 80 that day. Other than that we did enjoy our stay the restaurant & bar was very good too.

My room was ready when I got off ferry so no need to wait to check at 3 pm - checkout was 11am but as I stayed till 5 pm ferry I was able to put my lugggae in a storage & truely enjoy the rest of day

Easy location to find off ferry but overpriced without amenities. The room was clean and small and the bed was firm. The staff were all friendly. The continental breakfast was lacking.

We were there for 3 days exploring the Island. The National did offer a free continental breakfast until 10:30 a.m., so you didn't have to be up and out too early. Other than that the Island is very quaint and fun to explore. Not many restaurants are open after the Labor Day Holiday. We would recommend this hotel.

We so enjoyed the view and this hotel is an icon and very special. But on a few very hot summer days the lack of AC was difficult for sleeping.
Sorry, but the bartenders do not appear to like their job. Think the administrators need to "support" them more. They are in fact, the customer service to its visitors. I don't think they have enough "room" to invite the people in. Or they simply don't care.

My room was spacious and comfortable, and offered a great view of the harbor. I actually took sunrise photos from my window. I am definitely planning to return soon.
