Just awful, but it does the job. Pros: The room itself was clean, had wood floors, and didn't smell like smoke. The mattress is surprisingly comfortable. The heating works. The wifi works (barely). I got a room for 3 nights for $66/night and you can't beat that price. Cons (so many): Check in is at 2pm and before 2pm has a $25 early check-in fee. Even though I arrived at 1:45pm, they wouldn't waive the fee for me. There's a required $25 cash-only deposit when you check in, that you only get if you check out at 10am (The Expedia listing says 11am which is incorrect). They were unable to provide me with a receipt for my deposit. The young woman I talked to doesn't speak english well enough to answer the question "What's the check-out process?" and needed to get her manager. The room is barer than bare bones. No electrical outlet near the bed (I came prepared with my own extension cord), no lamp in the bedroom, only the overhead light with the light switch by the door. There's a construction site next door that starts working at 8AM. I absolutely could not get back to sleep after they started working. My gues is that this hotel is probably geared towards folks who have no other housing options and are in dire straights. They're not trying to create a pleasant

Never have I heard a hotel say you need a 25 deposit in cash but if you put it on a card there’s no guarantee you’ll get your money back. The rooms are dark even with light the walls are so thin you can hear the neighbors. Just not a good experience will not stay again.

This place is a disgusting dump , filthy, dangerous and operated by the most reproachable people. There may have been a passing moment Of pleasantry but none more than when I left at 3 am that morning unable to tolerate the conditions, my travel companion had no choice but to stay and the motel was very rude to him when he finally did. The check out time is listed at 11am in the Expedia property listing. It also makes no mentioned of a key deposit which must be made with cash, which the property listing states that the motels check out says that check out time is 10:00 am and that No Cash is accepted. This should be because my experience was like this; I checked in with Sonny the “desk clerk” and my first surprise was the room key deposit for which he had to have cash no cards for this. Conveniently there was an ATM in the lobby which I was able to use to get the substantial door key deposit. Yes I am paying Sonny this fee, he tells me that I must check out on time to receive that deposit back and that check out time is in fact 10:00 a.m. it should be noted here that these are the two discrepancies that I basis portion of the review on. The Expedia description said specifically 11:00 a.m. check out and says no cash accepted at property . Of course this is so there’s no record of it so sunny can pack it. This fee has no intention of paying me back .But I said to him "according to your literature or at least the Expedia information I read, your checkout time is 11:00 a.m. Wha

Very rude staff. I believe a couple runs it. They try to bully you.cThey have a kid that screams all night. They do not have AC. No rooms have AC. They provide fans. LOUD FANS. Which means you have hot loud air blowing on you. The shower was a joke. My room had a hole in the wall.They have one run down microwave for the entire hotel. There is construction literally next door so be prepared to get no sleep. They start around 6am and they stop around 7pm ish. It is listed that check out is 11am but they bam on your door at 10am. I had to call Expedia to assist with this issue. I took pictures of all of this. I will add to yelp. This place should be every cent of $59 a night. Very over priced for what you get and the treatment you receive

The photos of the Hollywood Roxy were incredibly impressive. They showcased a pristine and secure environment, as well as a warm and inviting atmosphere. However, I must mention that my experience with the desk clerk was quite unpleasant. They were rude and sly. Moreover, the condition of the rooms was far from satisfactory. The walls had dried spit on them, and there were blood stains in the corners. Additionally, I found filthy cigarette burn holes on the bedspread. It seems evident that this place has not been inspected by the health department in years. Considering these factors, I strongly suggest that your colleagues at hotel.com personally visit the establishments you advertise, as unsuspecting families and travelers often become victims of such situations.

Had to cancel it on the spot! AS SOON AS WE TRIED CHECKING IN. They wanted a "cash only" deposit, ammenities were lousy, management was the worse, No air conditioning in our room, they took a copy of my drivers license and printed behind another guest drivers license, they couldnt find it when I asked for it after letting them know we were not going to stay there afterall. JUST WORSE of the WORSE, I thought we were in an episode of PUNK'd, it was so bad. They should have a 1/2 star rating.

The “free parking” is whatever street parking you can find. No functional heater or air conditioner in the room. No complimentary shower soap or shampoo. Tons of homeless surrounding the property. Would never stay again.

The floors were dirty and the room seemed like it wasn’t cleaned in a long time. The chairs and fan and chair had this dirty grease on them, and there were bugs around

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in

I booked a two-night stay at the Roxy Hotel with my son, looking forward to a fun weekend at Universal Studios. However, we were very unhappy with the hotel and decided to bail after the first night. I paid for the full two nights online through Expedia.com, but I honestly feel like this place should not even be shown on that service. Roxy is situated in a loud and shady area, with constant noise and sirens throughout the night. The parking was horrendous, as their “free” parking was just an alleyway where everyone just parked haphazardly, trapping each other from being able to exit. We had to park several blocks away and walk back to the hotel. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and urine. The bed was uninviting and the comforter had holes from burns in it. The shower had mildew and there was no hot water. The creaky wooden floor felt unstable and decayed, as if I was about to fall through if I applied too much pressure. And there was no AC, but we had a small fan to cool us down in the 90° heat. The room also had only one power outlet, which the fan was plugged into (leaving just one available plug). That was very inconvenient for charging our phones. But hey, at least the wifi was great! I was able to browse the internet and look for a better hotel while we suffered in this dump. I strongly advise against staying at the Roxy Hotel, unless you are a low-life, hooker, or desperate budget traveler. It is a rip-off and a nightmare, and it spoiled our weekend.

The rooms look nothing like the pictures. There is no parking for this hotel. And it smelt of smoke in the non smoking rooms which was a health hazard for me personally. So I was unable to actually stay there. The staff was somewhat nice but overall It wasn’t a fun stay

Dirty room with no A/c. Window had a hole in the screen, allowing bugs into the room. I woke up 2 hrs into my sleep scratching from some sort of bite. When i awoke i lifted my pillow and found a little black bug scurrying across the bed. I freaked out and decided to check the bed for any more possible bugs. When i stripped the mattress of the sheets i found stains on the bed, dark red ones. After this i checked out early and was denied a full refund. Only a partial, 1 night of 3. The staff are also ill-mannered.

The maid does not clean she just vacums that's it there is no wall outlets to charge your phone only one and it's in the bathroom other than that the staff is really nice

I believe every hotel room should have slippers for comfort walking around dirty floors,houseflies everywhere and bad smell starting from the reception,room was so dirty,the smell,why does it cost to invest in decent tissue papers?i tried turning on the fan and i felt like it was burning,no ac working so had to rely on a very noisy fan so I didn’t sleep at all,it is in the perfect location but just so unfortunate,raise the price and give better services,had to wait at the reception for almost half an hour when checking in as well as checking out,no apologies from the receptionist,no greeting,just very grumpy,I won’t recommend this to anyone.Didn’t imagine to see something like that in the biggest city like LA.
