We were given a warm welcome by the staff on arrival. They were all professional and eager to assist with any issues we had, for example, our room was changed pretty swiftly when we highlighted some maintenance issues that could not be fixed.
Locationwise, it is tucked away in the marina bay, so very quiet with lovely views out into the bay with Fort Jesus on the otherside (depending on the room you are allocated youll have this view from your room). The beach area is tiny and not really what this hotel is about. If you want an expansive beach, youd be better off in Diani or Watamu.
The food was good, with a decent buffet selection

This was the absolute mistake on my travel experience. Service horrible everyone need need training I had to change rooms three times because the air conditioners did not work. They made promises that were not kept, very unprofessional and not sympathetic. These are some of persons that we interact with and ask for help - Mercy( manager) Moses, Christina, George it it was not chef Henry and intern Kelvin we would have left that piece of property that need to be revamped and entire staff need training. The door to our deck did not work. It was just a horrible stay all around and would never recommend it to anyone. The WiFi was a mess words cannot explain the incompetence of the staff from checkin to checkout was horrible. I will give them a 2 out of 10 points

Beautiful and spacious rooms

Generally a good place. Only have several restaurants in main property rather on the beach front only

Property is good, they are clean and staff are friendly.

This is one of the nicest places in the area. The staff was excellent and friendly. The price was good for the place. I am already looking forward to returning. The refrigerator did not work, and the desk said they would send someone to fix it, twice, but it did not get resolved. So any food we had went bad. It offered a kitchen, but nothing to cook with, no drinking glasses, no plates, no utensils, no soap. You are paying for a kitchen that you cannot use. You are paying for space.
The WiFi and air conditioning was unreliable, but they were experiencing storms to be fair. The dining options are great and the food was incredible! I got a massage at the spa. Again, it was fantastic. I loved this hotel, and the staff. My only issue was not being able to use the kitchen, which was important to me. The gym facility was beautiful.

Clean and well kept. Good security. Nice staff. Good dining options and nice view of the waterfront.

Beautiful grounds. We were given a big place with 3 bedrooms. Everything is very clean. Unfortunately the rooms were not checked by hotel staff. Bathroom sink broken! No Tv service. We tried to call front desk , but phone does not work. Walked back to reception and reported problems the day of checking in. Next day nothing was fixed. Went back to reception and asked for manager. Manager was not available. We were told to call another number. We left message….

Look for Nikodemus to serve you any kind of food, he is a good guy

I liked the staff and the facilities are modern and comfortable.
There is an awful sewage smell in the elevator that permeates to the bedrooms. To avoid it , the only way is opening the windows but then the mosquitoes come in.
The AC says 18C, but the lowest temperature it runs is 25C at best.

Had a very pleasant 3 night stay with the family in English point marina. Check in process and service from reception staff was amazing. Massive shout out to Dalma who was particularly helpful throughout.
Breakfast could be hit / miss and parts of the building could do with some TLC but I’d definitely stay at English point again if in Mombasa.

This hotel is for families or groups because you get more than one room.
I travel quite a bit and my thing is roominess and cleanliness and so these days I tend to go with VRBO or Airbnb. I booked this hotel immediately after I looked at the square footage and I found it was more than I bargained for. It is in a kind of residential area and quiet {you just have to live with the crows :) }. If you want to dip in the ocean it is there and if you prefer a pool it is there. The food was good (the coffee may take a couple of more minutes to arrive at your table than you want- no big deal to me). The staff was very polite everywhere including salutes in some areas, The rooms were very clean.
Simply, I would give this hotel the maximum score in all aspects but certain areas of it have a sewerage smell. I am sure it is something they can fix easily and it wouldn't deter me from returning if I went back for any reason

Nice clean modern property, really great pool and nice area, however, the service was slower than molasses rolling uphill, we waited 2 hours for food. Also the Electricity went off completely on Saturday morning for a long period not because of a power cut, but just went off, they fixed it eventually but it cannibalized much of my saturday morning and was an unnecessary inconvenience, I would not go back.

Excellent room. Beautiful views of Old Town across the creek! Great restaurants, good food. Good quality live music to enjoy on the Deck. Spa, swimming pool were wonderful.

This is a continuation of my previous check-in post. The check-in process was rough and was resolved the next day by the hotel. All services were slow. If you order food, it takes the better part of an hour for the food to arrive to your table. This place is not meant for families, there was late night music that echos through the property that makes it hard for kids to sleep.
The pier had an amazing view.
We celebrated my kid’s bday at the Margarita Restaurant. The head chef Andre, and the head baker Jeremiah coordinated everything for us and that was a great experience. The baker made the custom cake exactly to expectations and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves for the party.
I would have given it one star but due to the above and beyond services for the bday party, we are giving the experience an overall three star rating. The staff does need to be trained effectively.

The property was clean and I feel safe. The problem was the lady receptionist when I checked out(a heavy set lady with a stitched scar on her forehead), was making me pay my 4 nights stay, which I already paid through expedia. She is very rude, just ignoring me while helping others, made me wait for a long time, while she make and answer phone calls. Other than that, the stay was pleasant.

One of the finest places I’ve ever stayed, well appointed rooms and friendly service. Breakfast was in included with lots of choice. Food at Karahi restaurant was awesome.Spa service was just amazing must visit when you stay at English point. Views of old Mombasa were beautiful across from the sea.

1) I came to check in and my room was not ready so i was moved to another room making me wait for about 10 to 15mins hence i checked in after 2pm
2) Nobody was answering the room service number when i wanted to order dinner and water.i called the reception to ask them about room service they said they will let them know and nobody got back to me.
3) left the room at 9:30 am morning to come back at 2pm and the housekeeping did not finish cleaning the room left half of the work to go clean other rooms..coming back after 5hours to see the room in a bad condition so again they made me wait my own room that i paid for so the housekeeper can finish cleaning..
4)Even when i came with my luggage i had no assistance whatsoever to help with carrying bags..
Very disappointed did not expect this bad service at all!

Fantastic location, beautifull design, backlog in maintenance, experienced staff at reception, untrained or unmotivated staff at the restaurants.

Very beautiful place but the staff especially in the dinning areas are very slow and rude. The hotel and accommodation is very beautiful but poor customer service on the food department

Modern, comfortable, great restaurants and food. Attentive staff. Good room, however no storage or vanity in bathroom, TV had basic channel package around 16 usable for the price of the room I expected more. Overall an enjoyable stay and the property is managed extremely well.

Was not kid friendly. No activities for guest or tourist. No ATM machines or convience store near. Lights and electricity kept shutting on and off everyday.

A lot to complain about. First this is NOT a hotel but apartments designed for medium to long term stays. Check in was OK; we didn’t arrive until 9.30pm and were hungry & anxious to get some food. Apartment seemed lovely at first BUT fridge & freezer were off; it took ages to find out how to make it work. The air-con was very complicated, designed to be programmed for a whole week not just the usual on/off , fan speed / temperature adjust. Took nearly 30 mins to work it out. The bed mattress dipped significantly at one side and my wife was really uncomfortable. NO hot water despite reluctantly running it for a while (as the sign on the shower door advised). Check out was supposed to be 10am - far too early in my view especially as breakfast was served until 10am. Fortunately they extended it to midday. The front desk gave me an incorrect Wi-Fi code. When I found the correct code the Wi-Fi would not work.
After arrival we went down to the selection of hotel restaurants and chose the Indian option. By then it was nearly 10pm but it took 10 minutes to get a menu. I ordered some water and wine that didn’t arrive until we had almost finished eating, despite repeating my order at least 5 times. The waiters were servicing all the 3 or 4 separate restaurants at the same time which really just adds to the chaos. Everyone was friendly and pleasant but it was really amateurish. Total absence of competent management is the problem. It could be great but right now it’s underperforming.

Rooms were well appointed. A few small points, the kitchens did not have instructions for the microwave, nor cutlery, dishes, glasses etc. Perhaps the hotel could offer these on deposit, if they regularly disappear), Our garden apartment seemed to be over nearby the eco-sewerage treatment, so a faint smell was present in the early morning. Finally, the TV could have some apps installed like Netflix etc.

The staff were excellent. the service was good and the dining options were good. The pool area was also good.
The selection of TV channels was limited and the charges for use of the pool table in the sunset lounge were excessive. this amenity should be free to hotel guests. the WiFi was also very intermittent
