Hotel very central to town. Rooms very clean. However, triple room at front small for 4 people. Not enough wardrobe space or chair to sit on for older people. Bathrooms small but clean and manageable. Staff super friendly. Internet didn't work on top floor but did on ground floor.!! Breakfast was great and excellent value. Bar food not so great. Restaurant menu not much different but didn't eat there. Would prefer to eat out in the evenings. Overall great wee hotel and value for money.

Stayed in room 124 and there must have been work going on level 1 as the whole area was very dusty, also got breakfast on the Saturday morning and paid €45 for me my wife and my 10 year old girl and it wasn’t very nice.

I have to give this hotel a 5 star as it is an amazing hotel the was one bad issue which can not be the fault of the hotel as it was only an events doorman by the name of Brian I believe that was nasty and abusive but the hotel was an amazing lovely hotel and literally every other member of staff including the manager was really nice I’d highly recommend this hotel and will hopefully be back again some day

Brilliant weekend staying at The Abbey Hotel in Donegal town.

Large comfortable rooms. Large choice buffet breakfast and lovely bar. Just what was needed for short business trip.

Bar staff not good at their job

Complete disaster totally unorganized heating in room didn't work no hot water stains on floor and seats in the room.
New Year's Eve was horrendous total mayhem, they brought coaches of outsiders into hotel without notifying the clients they took over the hotel. Residents could not get accesd to bar or toilets, the room were the show was in totally over crowded, a complete safety hazzard. Residents had no choice but to leave the show and go back to
their rooms, the young people they let in totally took over every part of the hotel.
Running up and down the corridors banging on the doors. Brought food and alcohol into hotel and management were nowhere to be seen, infact some young one's still sitting in the reception area drunk from night before not even booked in the Hotel. I expect a refund for the night of 31st December it was our Wedding Anniversary, totally ruined we will not ever stay at this Hotel for the New Year EVER again.

Staff were pleasant. Seafood Chowder was not impressed.

Location is perfect and Building and facilities are beautiful. Stunning and quaint town. Rooms are nice however the King bed we had was not the most comfortable. We ate at the bar and the food was good but the bar quite cold in temperature.
Overall it was a very nice experience.

When you flushed the toilet you had no cold water. Not good

View of the bay from my room. The Abby was quiet and clean. Staff was congenital and helpful. Lots of people waiting for a bus made it difficult to find the entrance.

Lovely stay, was not a fan of the window view in room but the room was comfortable and live music in the hotel was fantastic.

Stay was good. Hotel could do with a good refurbished. €15 for a very average breakfast. Have had better for less.

The hotel is somewhat dated but rooms very large so no real issue there. Bar was very good with a proper range of beers not just lagers and stout so a real plus. The real issue for me is the poor quality of a E15 priced breakfast.
1. No white or black puddingh which is a first for me in an Irish hotel and I have stayed in many
2. You can only get toast that is pre-made which is odd
3. No hash browns but roast pots-strange
4. Considering it would cater for many tourists no croissants, cheeses or cold meats
When I asked about it at reception( the breakfast) I was told- 'that is the breakfast we serve' well not good enough at that price
The other issue is asking for an invoice on a reception counter sticky with a spilt drink which was also on the floor at 9 AM in the morning. Not a great look.
Cost was E164 for B and B which is par for the course for Ireland alas

Two flights of stairs to fourth floor, lift only goes to third floor. Whole place needs refurbishment. Staff great but let down by overall condition of hotel. Plus they need to be upfront about lack of facilities such as a lift to every floor. Older and disabled people would be very poorly served by this facility.

Decent rooms except for cold showers and no one willing to do anything about it. Kept telling me it was due to too many people taking a shower at once or I didn't know how to work the shower.

The room was clean and spacious; however, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and in desperate need of a new mattress. The front desk staff were courteous and efficient. Breakfast buffet was plentiful but average quality food and not worth the price. Also, the dining area was poorly cleaned. Great location in the middle of Donegal town.

Loved everything about this hotel except the beds were very hard!
Staff were so great! Huge room!

Enjoyed the music. Checking was poor. One day the room was not serviced. Had to call for toilet paper and towels when we returned late.

We stayed for 3 nights, unfortunately the room was very warm and noisy.

We arrived on Tuesday evening. No where else to stay in the area, so opted for here. Price was ok. Room was large, but dated with old mahogany style furniture. No air conditioning in room 110. Bathroom was good with great shower. The fan duct was full of dust. Needed cleaning. Dated bathroom. There was a sign up stating that there was refurbishing of rooms happening and apologised for the decor.
The breakfast cost us 30 Euro next morning and was disappointing. No fruit left and cooked breakfast was onver cooked and dry.
I had to go looking for tea/coffee as staff were thin on the ground.

Very freindly staff. Nicely kept facilities!

While the bathroom was refurbished the room was very dated and smelled fusty. Too expensive for the condition of the room.

Cons. Our room faced on to an enclosed area dominated by two large vents- possibly from the kitchen area- which ran noisily but intermittently all night. We were awakened early in the morning by two guests shouting abuse at each other from the windows of adjacent rooms. The hotel is urgently in need of a facelift and the bedroom furniture was tired and worn.
Pros. Despite it being a very busy bank holiday weekend the food was good and served relatively quickly. Reception staff were polite and efficient.

Pros : Lovely welcoming staff

Location is Superb
Bar staff AGAIG 😁
Cons. Rooms are getting dated but they are updating the rooms, decor etc so this will improve the place overall.

Things I loved: the food at the hotel, the condition of the property, the nightly music in the bar (awesome musicians!), the central location. Things I wasn’t so fond of: the parking (the hotel has none, and parking in the municipal lots or on the street was nearly impossible to find when I was there), and the staff attitude. People were businesslike, but there was little of the open friendliness I’ve encountered everywhere else I’ve stayed in Ireland, and a few people gave an impression of “we’re the Abbey Hotel, and you mere customer should be humbly grateful that we deign to let you stay here.”

We were disappointed on arrival to discover our booking did NOT include breakfast? There was no indication that it was ROOM ONLY when we made the booking. There was another couple who arrived just after us and they said the same. Could you please up-date your web-site to state clearly ROOM ONLY. Thank you.
