Very nice facility and luxurious room.

Terribly understaffed. It would be unfair to say that the service was bad because there was so little service to be able to critique things. The place was very busy and yet the pool was closed because there were no lifeguards scheduled, the restaurants were understaffed -- I felt bad for the 1 waitress at the Johnny Rockets that was running her backside off trying to keep up as there was a full restaurant and no wait staff. The place was decent, building-wise, but they have a long way to go to make this a worthwhile place to stay.

Upon checking Iin. It was made very clear y that we were paying in cash. The card was ran. There was no notes from the clerk who checked us in.
Room had a view of a wall . I could have gotten this service at a motel 6.

Wrong room, didn’t honor booked room, made us check out and check back in for our stay and yes check out and back into the same room, charging another resort and incidental fee.

Wait for check in was about 35 min..Chose GSR primarily to use the pool which i was told was open both over the phone and at front desk; however it was closed both days as they had no lifeguards!!!

Great for the price of the room. Only complaint was the couple in a shouting match in the hallway at 4am. We ate in and found the food tasty, but a bit overpriced.

Smoky and loud !!!

My stay was good. I did have concerns about the room card. When I was trying to leave the 18th floor the card wouldn't open the elevator. I was assisted quickly by security, but I concerned about that. If someone was having a medical emergency this would not be good.

Casino floor has so much cigarette smoke and you have to walk through it for almost anything from checking to getting food from restaurants. The majority of staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Event front desk for checking in gave no indication of where our room was or how to get anywhere. Luggage carts are restricted to valet use (valet is free, which was nice) but we were told our luggage cart would be to our room in 15 minutes, but it was lost or sent to another room because we had to call the desk to locate it—-over an hour after what we were told, our luggage arrived. All food at the restaurants is overpriced and restaurant staff were also unfriendly. Pool area only allows you to order food from the bars at the pool or the food trucks at the pool, which wasn’t communicated anywhere, so if you truck it down to the pool with plans to eat the overpriced lunch you picked up at one of the hotel restaurants, you’ll be turned away. On top of all of that, after a night of sleeping in the somewhat comfortable bed, I woke covered in bug bites, and I’m pretty sure it was from bed bugs.

The breakfast at the cafe was fantastic but it could be half the size for 1 person. Four pieces of bacon, massive eggs, toast and hash browns. I hated to discard half of it. Also, a $5 cup of black coffee is too pricey. The coffee at the market is way too hot. I scalded mouth with a little sip. The room prices were great this week and I appreciated the offer of an extra night without the resort fee.

The room I ordered they don’t even have them rooms anymore so they upgraded me then they charged me another $100

Only thing not satisfied is that I pay resort fee twice, one via hotel app and again at hotel, that need to address for an improvement!

Nice hotel with lots of amenities and restaurants. Restaurants very expensive. Room was comfortable and very dark thanks to very effective blackout curtain. Biggest drawback is that it is impossible to avoid going through or near the slot machines and gambling area where smoking is permitted and obnoxious.

Overall a very good stay. I do think they use too much plastic and wish they’d decrease the amount they use. The towels were a little must with a scent of mildew. I was pleased they brought and received our bags to and from the room. I will return someday.

Pros:
The rooms have been updated since I stayed there last.
Beverage cooler fridge in the room.
Cons:
I was sent a text to check in 24hrs early but kept receiving an error. I called for assistance and was told to ignore the text and just check in at the desk upon arrival. The check in line was massive at 4:30pm on a Friday - 300 people if I were to estimate.
Look for the QR code poster toward the back of the line near the separate "key pickup" kiosk line. Thankfully I was able to use this link and it let me check in. I was sent to a separate line where I only waited about 10 minutes for a key.
The resort fee is high and I doesn't match the value you receive. Valet parking is free regardless if I'm a hotel guest. 2 waterbottles - ok thank you. And here is what really felt sneaky: hotel check out is 11am. The pool doesn't open until 11am. So if you go to the pool as soon as it opens, your key card won't work, since you're no longer a valid paying guest, and you cannot enter. Instead they ask you to pay the fee for a day pass. If the pool opened at 10am then this wouldn't be an issue, but I feel that this was deliberately timed and done on purpose to prevent 1 night guests from utilizing the pool the next day. Try asking for a late check out of noon and then you'd be able to visit the pool once it opens.
Also, I was charged a $1.99 housekeeping gratuity fee and had housekeeping knock on my door twice before 11am despite my do not disturb sign, to see if I had left yet.

Stayed 2 nights for meetings. Mobile check in still took a while. Special Room requests were not honored because booking was 3rd party. Also changes are not possible because of mobile check in.

I always hear rave reviews about GSR-Reno so I booked it for the Mother's Day weekend. There is plenty of parking but it's uncovered and expect a long walk to the hotel if you don't park up close. They offer 24 hours in advance mobile check in and upon arrival you can use the self-check in to get your room keys. It was convenient and there was little to no line. The room was pristine; nice decorum, smelled clean, nice size bathroom with a full sized shower with multiple shower heads. The negative is that I put the cleaning sign on the door and the room was not cleaned. I had to track down housekeeping to get refreshed towels (note: they charge an additional $1.99 per night fee specifically for housekeeping). Great amenities (movie theater, concert venue, bowling, arcade, numerous restaurants) and beautiful pool area however, it opens daily around noon versus other resorts with pool hours as early as 7a.m. Lastly, the casino vibe is lackluster. For the size of the resort, the gaming area is not that big. The tables weren't booming with excitement and the slots appear to be very tight; not many folks winning. Lastly, valet is a bit chaotic. Again, for the size of the resort and the tragic of guests, they may need to restructure the valet process and possibly hirer more workers. Overall experience, AVERAGE. For equal comparison, if I had to choose between GSR and the Peppermill; I'd choose the Peppermill!

The hotel room was awesome and clean. The shower was nice and the bed was soft. My grand daughter is 7 and after a car wreck is in a wheelchair. There was no ramp where we parked out front except where the cars go. We had an issue with a big man from security named Gordon. He was very ugly to my daughter and grand daughter because they stopped by a slot machine that I was playing on. They were on the marble floor where all the other kids and parents were. When I questioned him about it he got very ugly with me. All he needed to say was back up a little bit! That would of been great better than upsetting a child and my daughter

The stay was fine. I like that there were more things to do at the hotel and there was good food to eat at the hotel. The door handle on the bathroom was broken. There was no extra blankets in the closet.

It’s pretty much the first week of heat so we came to stay so we can enjoy the pool area and all its amenities. The day we’re there, THE POOL IS CLOSED due to being “short on staff” Is the the Grand Sierra RESORT or grand sirrra motel??????? Totally disappointed.

Great communication with staff. Clean, comfortable room.

I was in a room with 2 queen beds and I was curious why each bed had so many pillows. My daughter said they were to enhance the decor. I personally thought there were too many and a nuisance when getting ready to use the bed.

So the hotel was clean and well maintained and the room was nice and in good order. The bed was comfortable as well.
The issue I had wss the Hotel Resort fee I was charged. I checked in after 1am because of travel delays & issues and then checked out at 11am. So I was only at the hotel for 10 hours with the majority of that time sleeping in my room. So I did not get to use any of the hotel amenities.
I talked to 3 staff members including a couple Front Desk managers about possibly waiving the fee or crediting a portion backvsince I did not get to use any of the resort's amenities in my very short stay. All of them were not friendly oe empathetic about my situation and said no to me about possible credit of that fee. They really did not seem to care.
That is NOT good customer service at all!!

Short one night stay at GSR. Staff was great. Room was clean uncomfortable. Only downsides were the smell of smoke that somehow made its way into the guest rooms, and the fact that they didn’t open the pool area until 11 AM on the day we were checking out. Check out is at 11 AM. So that was a huge disappointment.

The reception staff was unfriendly and did not speak Spanish, unlike the restaurant staff where they serve breakfast, extremely friendly, it was a real pleasure to be able to have breakfast there

Our visit was marginal at best. The lamp on the TV stand had no knob to turn on the lamp. My husband had to get the knob on a lamp that was otherwise broken. The floor lamp did not work, had no switch and the color hues of the light bulbs did not match. The GFI was tripped making the heater not work. There is no plug to in phone on the left side of the bedstand.

The check in desk was friendly and quick. The hotel was really efficient in handling high volumes of guests. I did not feel hurried nor like a number!
