We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Aura Del Mar. The hotel has many amenities and direct access to the beach. Service was great too; highly recommend!

My 9 year old son and I stayed at Aura del Mar for Spring Break 2024. While the hotel is not kid focused or running over with screaming kids, it is kid friendly. The pool area is lovely, with plenty of different lounging areas in the shade. It's a bonus that the excellent and reasonably priced Bistro Del Mar is on the beach level, as they were consistently delivering food and drinks up to guests at the pool.
I considered it to be in the ideal location in Zihuatanejo, as it's a 10 minute walk north to the city center. Along the way, there are several highly regarded restaurants. Plus, Maderas right next door on the beach is also a great spot. Additionally, there are some true gem restaurants and coffee shops within several blocks of the hotel itself. In the other direction is Playa Ropa, which is a 15-20 minute walk, first uphill and then down.
The cabs were 450 MXN (about $28) each way, about a 15-20 minute drive.
As others have said, it's nice that there's a small convenience store across the street for room necessities. The hotel provides plenty of bottled and filtered water at no cost.
We didn't have any luck being able to book any excursions ahead of time, but the concierge Carlos was able to get us set up with fishing, zip lining and the sea turtle experience.
The rooms overall had everything needed - a working air conditioner, Wifi, and cable TV. We enjoyed playing cards on our balcony before heading out to dinner.

The rooms are spacious. We had a beautiful view. Friendly , helpful staff. The pool area is very nice. Breakfast at the restaurant was great.

Absolutely beautiful property with friendly and engaging staff who got out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Our room was immaculately cleaned each morning with turn down service at night. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking to visit Zihua.

This is a beautiful property with all the greenery and flowers and great views. We enjoyed the Macaws, turtles, and even a huge iguana. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! We couldn't have asked for a better location as you can walk to everything. I booked rather late so most of the rooms were sold out, so we got a bottom room in the corner. Next time, I will book earlier and get a room a couple of floors up.

What a beautiful place! Gorgeous room, stunning views, extraordinarily good restaurant and brilliant service, all on a lovely beach with great swimming. The service was impeccable, the pool absolutely lovely. This is a mountainside property, so everything is up and down flights of stairs, so that's worth mentioning. But all in all, everything we could have wanted.

Old Mexico charm with modern amenities, down to the parrots that greet you when you pass. Watch the sunset with the best Cadillac margarita. Direct beach access. Swimming pool with plenty of lounges to nap in the shade. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We love staying here. Our fourth time!

We arrived early and I have to say they were amazing, they let us have an early check in , which was great ! The hotel is very cute but many many stairs .. rooms are cozy but, do need some upgrades as well as the bathroom ( shower head and mirror ). Staff was great for the exception of Salvador at the pool, it’s like he is being forced to work there ., honestly very rude. Glendy was amazing ! overall a good quiet stay .,

Beautiful property, our room had a terrace overlooking the bay and the sky was beautiful at sunset. The slide into the pool is a fun extra, and the pool is very clean, relaxing and pretty. The path along the coast to town is lovely and I felt safe. The staff are so friendly and kind. The restaurant is wonderful too!

From the time of making my reservation through my departure everything was just perfect. Every staff member did go out of their way to make sure we were properly assisted. My family and I absolutely loved this place and can’t wait to be back. Mr. Vargas who I believe is the General Manager took the time to call me and assured I was getting a specific request as I was there for my sister who is dealing with a condition. He could have not done better than what he did! So Grateful and beyond satisfied 🙏🙏🙏 Will recommend and will be back

My first time staying at Aura del Mar and I shall return! Stayed in room 105 which was perfect. 30 seconds from the pool, 45 seconds and you're on Madera Beach. 45 seconds and you're in the lobby and out front on the street. The staff was simply marvelous. Special shout out to Sandy at the lobby bar and Roxy at the reception desk. Francisco needs to stop trying to side-hustle his excursions and adventures. Just take a "No, thank you" and quit asking me if I need to book anything, Francisco. The bartenders and waiters in the restaurant were all great, too.
Despite the street being torn up for major maintenance, we were a very short walk to lots of different restaurants and shops. The pool area is hard to beat, never any trouble getting a lounge chair. Same for the beach area, plenty of chairs. The boardwalk is close by and makes for an easy stroll to Playa Principal and plenty of things to see and do. I absolutely loved my visit and will be booking a return trip very soon!

What a gorgeous place to stay! So dreamy in every way. Thank goodness for the air conditioning in the bedroom! We were so grateful for the reprieve from heat/humidity. We visited from Oregon so it was hard to acclimate to the weather but every person was welcoming, professional and really cared about how our trip was going. Wish we had more time there. Wonderful place to stay!

This hotel was outstanding. Exceeded my expectations. Fabulous location and relaxed atmosphere without losing attention to detail needed to run a hotel of this standard. Beach on doorstep, town a short stroll and rooms were very comfortable too. Oh and comfortable balcony to relax on too.

This is my second visit in a row to this place and i love it my only huge issue is the lack of microwave oven iny room. I traveled with a minor and it's a huge problem not to have something to warm up his milk.

From the moment we arrived, we experienced a very congenial staff and knew we had selected a very nice place for our next 2 weeks. The amenities were many: the pool is lovely, many places for enjoying one's afternoon in very comfortable lounges. The staff visits and offers drinks and food service there. The beach below is really clean, and easy access into the water. It's safe and children can enjoy it endlessly. The restaurant serves a nice variety of foods, including room service. We so liked working with the manager, Miguel. He made every effort to make some room changes and we were very pleased. The views are endless. Just beyond our hotel, one can access the walk paths above the beach which can take you into the main town of Zihua or head the opposite direction for other localities above the beach. This city is so environmentally focused and they also make every effort to protect the sealife and birds, etc. We felt very comfortable there, we tried so many different restaurants, many of which were in walking distance.
We loved our time there and plan to go again one day
!! The last time there was 2009...it was so different with a small population of 15,000...but this city knows how to grow without ruining the environment!!!

We liked the hospitality of the staff that went above and beyond. Our housekeepers did lovely things with our beds everyday with flowers and animals made from towels that made us smile. They even rolled out beds open with coconut candies on our pillows every evening.

Downtown is 5 minutes walking, 13 minutes to harbor to go to las gatas beach, mercado Municipal is 10 minutes you can buy souvenirs cheaper and barbacoa tacos.

Our 3rd time staying at Aura Del Mar and we’ll be back! The price is VERY reasonable for how charming it is. Great location, well cared for, attentive service and a great little restaurant too. Lots of repeat visitors. There are a lot of stairs but the views are worth it. One of the only properties in the area with beachfront. Very clean. The grounds are lush with tropical plants. Pool area spotless and private feeling. Easy to fall in love with the hotel and Zihua in general!

The view and beach area are fabulous! We love the private separate beach palapas and loungers just for hotel guests. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, The staff are great. Whatever we asked for, or needed, we got. There was always cleaning, gardening, painting and upkeep going on. Nice to see!

If you are interested in traditional Mexican lodging, with beautiful architecture, floral and fauna, view, art and amenities of a boutique hotel, this location has it all! It is a great hotel to travel with with teens, as it gives them some independence in a safe location. The staff are lovely people. The only improvement would be re: beds that are hard - but that is most of Mexico.

Great View of the water. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Restaurants in walking distance. Restaurant at hotel is excellent. Can walk anywhere from this location. Great hotel for groups. Slight rain and cloudy the days we were there but I'm definitely going back.
