The rooms are nicely done and very comfortable to stay in. The sleep quality was excellent. I did not try the bar but the restaurant looked quite nice and if I had to guess, I would say the bar would match what my taste of drinks would have been. Everything about the hotel was more worth the price tag.

From the first encounter our experience was excellent. The front desk staff allowed us an early check in and upgraded us to a view room. The valet quickly returned our car so that we could gather some items that we had forgotten. The room itself was immaculate, I especialy liked the glass, drinking glasses and ceramic coffe cups. We were within walking distance of many restaurants, the riverwalk shopping area and river attractions.

Quite honestly the best location for a quick overnight. Friendly staff and responsive service. I will come back to this one if the price is right.

The location of this hotel was perfect for our stay! It was trendy, decor wise, and had a bar in the lobby. The elevator reeked of weed though, and the curtains in the room were torn. Just an okay place.

Hotel was roomy and comfortable as described in the description. There were some rust and slow drains but nothing that is so off-putting. Although not as modern as the pictures showed this was a very nice boutique hotel run by very kind people. They were always friendly and quick to fulfil any request I had --such as need for late check-in since I came in late, and hot water, etc... As a guest service is always the thing that brings me back so I'll be back when I'm in the area. And I recommend others too.

This trip was so relaxing given my circumstances. I came because i have surgery at 5am the next morning to get a hysterectomy to get rid of uterine cancer. Im 27 with no children and incredibly upset. But this stay was so comforting, the staff was so friendly, and the price was practically a steal with how much was included. Free wifi, a breakfast bar in the room, and it was so spacious too. It feels like a mini apartment; like home.

This hotel was beautiful the staff was nice I truly enjoyed it

While it has potential there is little to no service provided. Free breakfast was repetitive and dependent on what was available. Housekeeping is not offered daily but even when requested it never happened. I had to collect towels & put the garbage out in the hallway. The room was dusty and not clean. Only 1 elevator was fuctional and it was dirty. Would not recommend at all.

Staff was very rude. Lights in BR didn’t work and there was mold in the shower. They ran out of food for continental breakfast and didn’t offer another alternative or credit on room. When asked for a receipt upon check out for documentation for work, was told they can’t do that.

The staff was friendly. However, it took a moment to get their attention while they were scrolling. Only 1 elevator was working the entire time of our stay. At breakfast one of the staff dropped the pump lid for the coffee onto the floor. Instead of taking it to the kitchen to wash off the straw that goes into the coffee pot they simply put it back into the coffee pot. The windows in our room were single pane and looks like they have never been cleaned. They glazing lines were covered in black funk and the panes were covered in white mildew. Hair dryer was non-working and our tub backed up everytime while showering. No one on staff to unclog the drain, so it was really gross to stand in goodness knows while showering in foot deep water. :(

2nd stay at this property, great location for an easy walk to the cruise terminal. Also located perfectly to enjoy the French Quarter. Rooms are large, staff is nice, very cool and eclectic spot.

Loved the location - walking distance to everything. Loved the layout of the rooms- huge suites w big bathroom. Loved free breakfast (except watery scrambled eggs) & nice lobby. Housekeeping - terrible! Toilet overflowed 1st night and we borrowed a plunger and had to fix it ourselves. Mold around hinges in shower & shower didn’t look clean, sticky stuff on top of bedside table which stuck to my magazine. Bedside lamp broken. Paint peeling on outside of building, windows filthy, noisy on Saturday night only but walls thin. No daily room cleaning and it shows. Could be a great hotel but maintenance neglect really shows. Fire alarm went off on our 3rd night at 3 AM… twice & we had to evacuate the building twice due to smoke in lobby coming from street into stairwells. Very disappointing experience. My husband returned home w COVID. Did he catch it there?? I wonder.

The hotel was in a great location. Room was spacious. Loved the record player in our room. The heating and air did not have a knob to adjust so we just had to guess. The door to the hallway had a large gap underneath and on the side where the hinges were letting in light but mostly letting in the marijauna be smoked across from us. It made it very uncomfortable in our room due to smell and we had two children under two. We asked for a pack in play but they didn’t give us the bottom for the baby to sleep on so we had to walk down to the car in valet to get it.

I’m a NOLA native, but have lived in NYC for many years. I return to NOLA regularly to visit fmly & friends. The Mercantile has a great, central location, walkable to so much. My room was more spacious than most average, well located, city hotels. The staff was friendly & quick to help. The price was reasonable & I felt safe as a mature, solo, female traveler. Downside - the hotel has seen its share of traffic & shows considerable wear & tear. It’s in need of a major renovation, but I did enjoy a comfortable stay in spite of this drawback.

This was a nicer than average hotel in the warehouse district, very convenient to the convention center. It is walkable for both restaurants and conferences, with the French Quarter and Bourbon Street a mere half mile by foot or Uber.
Building is historic brick but the hot water and heat & a/c work well

I will definitely stay here again. It's spacious, quaint, comfortable and affordable.
I cannot rate the breakfast - i didn't get to try it. The record player in the room is pretty cool and actaully works great! Such a nice novelty addition. Bed was comfortable- the linens could have been a little thicker because it was a little cold in the room despite turning up the heat. The central heat wasn't the most efficient.
The staff was accomodating and pleasant.
The tables were a little dusty but everything else was clean.

Loved having a separated bedroom from the sitting room and the views from our 7th floor room was amazing. Will definitely stay there again.

The room was just dirty enough to show housekeeping is infrequent and quick. Someones hair was in the bathroom ceiling, the vanity was falling apart. Our bathtub was clogged and drained slowly the entire time we were here. The edges of the bed frame were dusty. The front desk clerk, when he put down his phone, contacted maintenance about the tub, but nothing was done about it. The floor of the elevator was sticky our first morning, it doesn't look like it was mopped up. Eventually, people just tracked the sticky out or covered it in grime.

We really enjoyed the hotel. It was very conveniently located by the venue we were going to. The free breakfast was amazing!

Wonderful stay! Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, very clean! Great breakfast every morning. Location is amazing, it's close to everything... we walked to Bourbon Street, lots of great little bars and dining options. The building is so unique looking, we loved our room!

In our bathroom the wall paper was peeling off. The door to the bedroom area was removed. The whole hotel was extremely hot (we went in December) and was mentioned by multiple guests. The breakfast was ok for a continental but didn’t change the week were there.

Nice hotel, great ambiance in the lobby area and nice room. My only points of slight dissatisfaction are the cost of valet parking, which is required if you have a car, and the “city view” advertised that turned out to be a brick wall. Overall, good value and a positive experience.

We chose this for the Sugar Bowl/NYE weekend. Location was fantastic. Room set up was ideal for us traveling with our college kiddo. Cleanliness in bathroom was not good. Pictures on website made it look much more updated than it is. Very little interaction with staff as they stayed behind the front desk.Breakfast was not tasty. It shows that leadership is incredibly comfortable bring an average hotel.

The property is actually very attractive, but it is clearly lacking in care—it’s a management problem, I believe. Some of the online reservation functions didn’t want (e.g., online checkin), the valet parking attendant was nowhere to be found when we arrived, our car was left on the street all night (and yet we were still billed for valet parking), and I particularly want to emphasize how very unfriendly—and legitimately rude—the front desk staff was, both in person and on the phone. This includes the evening desk staff when we checked in and the morning staff when we checked out. In contrast, the maintenance staff was quite quick and nice when we had lightbulb issues in our room. The breakfast room attendant was also very friendly and visibly present keeping serving trays stocked and the area clean. This hotel is a good price, but a little worn around the edges. All tolerable, but the front desk staff attitude is really off putting. One last note: the scent of weed was disgusting in the lobby.

The property is old. The rooms need to ne updated. Carpets have a bad smell and there is A.C problems. We moved rooms 3x for a 3night stay. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Very nice room and staff. Cool vintage warehouse made into rooms. They were kind enough to let us check in early and store our luggage at checkout. Only two very minor complaints.. the housekeeping crew kept knocking on the door in the am way before check out time. And the interior of the elevator needs some renovation. But they ran just fine! I'd stay again, and recommend to friends
