Amazing hotel in the heart of Valletta! Great spot especially if you want to feel the heartbeat of the city! Hosts were wonderful and knowledgeable! Would highly recommend! And don’t forget to buy a piece of their beautiful artwork to remind you of your stay!

Valetta Lucente is in a prime location in downtown Valetta although on a pedestrian only street which makes it a bit difficult when using Uber. However the hotel more than makes up for it. Interior quirky but really works. We arrived at 3:00 AM but staff were there to assist us. Didn't meet Charles till the second last day of our visit but previous reviews on both him and his wife and staff lived up to their reviews. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Malta. I mentioned about quiet. When we arrived at 3:00 AM the street was very quiet but when we got up and went outside the hustle and bustle and noise was a shock! However the construction of the hotel (solid) meant that no sound penetrated to our room, believe me a huge bonus!
Congrats Charles, we will be back!

The owners made us feel welcome and the property is a awesome unique boutique hotel. Full of unique pieces the owners have collected. One thing to note this property does not have.a 24/7 reception even though Expedia gave us the information it did. We did not arrive until midnight due to delayed flights. We had provided our flight number so the owners were tracking our flight and waited for us to arrive.as we couldn’t be contacted. If I got the correct information I would have reached out to the hotel to arrange after hours check I as with a few of the other places on this trip. The owners were very gracious in waiting’ for us to arrive.highly recommend great location and beautiful hotel

Excellent service. The owner even came to our taxi to assist in picking up our luggage to the premises. Never seen that before in my entire accommodation's needs.

Property was nicely located for us. Amazing historical sites and beautiful gardens and views within walking distance. So many restaurants to choose from and plenty of shopping for those interested in that.

It was busy and noisy outside but family operated hotel was charming enough to please us. Each room is decorated differently. Our room was spacious with separate living room and bathroom. Breakfast was fresh and tasty homemade. It will be perfect for young adults to stay here. There are many bars and restaurants outside.

Our stay was amazing with an extremely helpful staff and a great location. The hotel and room were beautiful. Its a renovated palazzo that has an eclectic charm. The staff even let us leave our bags all day after check out so we could explore more before our evening flight.

This place was absolutely INCREDIBLE. By far our most favorite out of our whole entire trip! We regretted to only have one night at Lucente. It is incredibly charming and the attention to detail is perfect! Two terraces with a view of cathedrals, church bells ringing. Dramatic double doors that opened onto them. It is by far and large our most favorite and beautiful place we’ve ever stayed! Right outside of the hotel is the most charming cobblestone alleyway with steps full of restaurants and bars and we even decided at 11 PM to go back out for a nightcap. Do yourself a favor and fit this into your itinerary! You will not regret it. It was so special.

This was the most charming boutique hotel, stylishly decorated, the beds were dreamy, and although the location is lively, it was quiet within the hotel. The owners and staff made great recommendations and were very accommodating-all the special little details! 10 outta 10 would stay again!

Honestly, quite late in leaving this, but someone asked me for a recommendation in Malta, and I had to come back to leave a review! I was in Valletta in December, and had a fantastic time at Valletta Lucente.
The accommodation is in a fantastic central location in Valletta, and is above the ceramics shop also owned by the family. It is a very short walking distance from St. John's Co-Cathedral, and a brief walk to major bus transport hubs which made it easy to get around the rest of Malta.
Hosts were lovely and helpful, and the the breakfast every morning was freshly made.

Very welcoming( Alexander from the front desk was very nice). Great location and beautiful place. Unfortunately, the bathroom was not as clean and water would go under and make a mess.

Very charming and unique - absolutely loved it.
Warning to those who sleep light and have young kids - it can be very noisy until late in the night/early morning (up to around 4am) due to bars in the street outside and poor noise isolation!

Breakfast was exceptional. Charlie was very welcoming and helpful when our luggage didn’t arrive for two days. The location is perfect to easily walk to everything in Valletta. There was nothing we didn’t like.

It is a beautiful place, the room was in 3 different floors and it had a spiral staircase, the vew from the top balcony was magnificent!!!!

Very nice hotel right in the middle of Valletta. Very close to all attractions and restaurants. The room we stayed in was on the 4 floor with view on the harbor. The staff was super friendly and would help us with all the questions we have. The parking is not easy if you have a car. One we used was in 10 minutes walking distance from hotel which would fill out after 8am till 5 pm and after 6 pm.

Added tremendous value to my Malta experience. The staff could not have been more lovely. The fine touches and attention to detail set a high standard for my future travels.

On arrival our room the light did not come on so was dark, my husband crossed to switch the light on but tripped on a low table not visible in the dark, grazing his leg so badly we spent 7 hours at the hospital to be stitched up and had 3 follow up visits and a holiday ruined. The table was a dangerous hazard in a dark room and we feel the hotel was responsible for the accident.
There is no mention on the web that the hotel is located on a very steep road that no taxi or car can access so is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
There is no access to a roof terrace unless staying in one of the penthouse rooms.
We felt the breakfast offered was picnic food - cold meats, cheese, pickles, quiche, no sweet pastries, eggs or toast etc

Characterful style bijou hotel with charming hosts - The whole team were always attentive & helpful.
Little touches like home cooked dishes for breakfast & bedtime stories were a lovely addition.
The private terrace with harbour views was a great place to rest with a glass or two in the evenings!
Highly recommended for a special place to stay in the centre of town.

What a wonderful stay in central Valletta! We enjoyed 9 days in the Layla Penthouse, with a comfortable seating area outside and great views of the city.
Lots of sites, shops and restaurants close by, and a 10 minute walk max to the bus terminal. It was quite noisy until around midnight, which we expected from a central location.
Hosts Dorothy and Charles were lovely and very knowledgeable of the best places to go on the island. The homemade maltese buffet breakfasts were delicious - especially the cakes!
We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely stay here again when visiting Malta.

Excellent location, right in the heart of Valletta, The owners are absolutely charming and more than happy to offer help and advice for what to see and do in Malta. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is a blend of retro and modern, which gives it a unique interesting vibe.

I stay in about 10 hotels per year and this place is a firm favourite. If going to Valletta- stay here, you will not be disappointed. Charles and Dorothy are professional hoteliers. They are the friendliest, most sincere owners and they will be winning awards very soon.

Wonderful boutique hotel in 15th century palace. Penthouse room(Layla) has a wonderful harbor view. Very gracious hosts, and fantastic location. Very good restaurants two minute walk away.

Charles and Dorothy treated us like family. Huge breakfast with quiche, sausage and baked goods all made by Charles. Half a block off Merchant street in old part of Valletta so walking distance from cathedral and many museums. Thanks very much.
