Le personnel, le patron et sa famille sont très accueillant et serviable. Ils proposent des transferts au port pour les îles mentawai et à l’aéroport, ils sont ponctuels, ont peut vraiment compter sur eux et leur faire confiance ! On peut manger et boire à la guesthouse. La vue depuis la terrasse est incroyable !

Very nice owner family and the view from the terrace was just awesome! Dinner was delicious and if you just have any questions they are more then willing to help at any time on any topic! We wished we could have stayed longer!

- We stayed in the upper room. The private balcony was really nice. - The dishes served were delicious - Free tee & coffee as well as water - Easy and affordable motor bike rental (which is needed because of the location)

- the stairs to the room were really steep - the breakfast was very basic - would be great if the staff could improve their english a bit :-) We booked the stay because we the owner is British and might help us to plan our trip around Sumatra. Unfortunately, the owner was not around during our stay and the staff was not really able to help us (they tried their best, but their English was a bit of a challenge). -Taxi to airport was quite expensive (300k - one way)

Stayed in the seaside view room for 4 nights, cannot recommend this place enough ! 10/10. The owner and his family are so friendly and they really really go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay, from food, transport and recommendations, it’s all excellent. Very laid back and peaceful, and possibly the best night sleeps we’ve had on our 9 months of travels, extremely comfy bed. Great scooter rental, food, and ofcourse the view ! Thanks for the stay !

The hospitality is great! Easy communication with the host. Robert was great at getting back to me with questions I had. The place is very clean, comfortable bed. I had an excellent meal there. Hot shower. The view is beautiful. The place is located in a more secluded area, not near the city but very close to the ferry.

The terrace has a lovely view and is a great place to sit and stare at the ocean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable. The upstairs room (Room 4) has a wonderful and private view. Overall, this was a really nice place to stay. Would go back!

Immediately outside the downstairs "sea view" room is the main terrace where guests and staff congregate during day and night, which means the room has no privacy unless the curtains are closed (in which case, no view). If the tables and chairs were instead moved to the other end of the terrace, this would help make the room a little more private and therefore allow more natural light into the room.

Home away from home! I loved my stay at The View, so much so I booked 2 nights and stayed 6! Robert and his wife couldn't be more accommodating and helpful. The property is super clean and quiet and positioned close enough to get down to Padang very easily but not close enough so that you get the noise from the markets. I did two tours and used The View as my base and after each amazing tour (Mentawai & Mount Kerinci) I couldn't wait to get back, grab a beer watch the incredible sunset and melt into the super comfortable bed!!!

quiet little homestay just outside padang with amazing sunset views. rooms are simple but clean. Robert is a great host, providing information and pick up service from/to airport/ferry. they also rent out a scooter to explore the area. great place to stay if you prefer a more quite surrounding and don't mind a 10 minute scooter ride to the city for shopping eat

the only room with kind of a private bathroom that for some reason doesn't have a sink. I guess they are planing to renovate it which would definitely upgrade the situation.

Excellent guest house, I highly recommend the view for your stay in Padang or Mentawai. Robert (British) picked me up from the airport for 250,000 idr. The guest house is located a few minutes from the town centre and the Mentawai ferry port. It is on the hill side, 100m above the beach with an incredible view of the ocean. The sunsets are magnificent. Unlike the city centre, the place is very quiet so you can sleep very well. The rooms are very clean and bright and the largest room upstairs has a balcony with a breathtaking view. One room has its own bathroom and the shared bathroom is spacious, clean and has a real shower with hot water. I was supposed to stay for 2 days, I went back for another 10 days. You can rent a scooter at the guest house or ask Robert to take you somewhere (leaving a tip is always good). You can use the washing machine for free. Coffee, tea and hot and cold water are free as well . You can eat on the premises or in the restaurants on the street. There is a choice of breakfast (Indonesian or continental). Robert and his wife are very welcoming and accommodating and does his best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. So after having stayed in several hotels in Padang, I will only come back here.

Rob was a great host making sure that I had everything I needed for my very short stay in Padang. The guest house is clean and spacious and the view is amazing.

It is a ways from the center but that was easily solved with taxis. I was even able to catch a ride or two with the host Rob which made the distance doable. I did miss having a sink in the onsuite bathroom.

Very clean property, we had the sea view room which was lovely. Steep climb up to it but with a hand rail. You do have to share the bathroom but it is very clean and has hot water. I think Robert does have one en suite room. Situated out of the city and up a mountain it suited us as we like the peace and quiet. You can walk down to the small beach from the property. There is also a lovely restaurant just up the mountain a short way which was very nice. Robert is very helpful and kind.

This place is great, the view is absolutely amazing! The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a hot shower and clean bathroom. The owner Robert was so helpful, leaving us to the harbour to get the ferry to Siberut, letting us do laundry and giving us lifts into the city when needed. This place is away from the business of the city and really felt like home while I stayed there.

The name is very appropriate, THE VIEWS are simply amazing. We stayed at the room 4 with the sea view and we loved it. Robert will help you in everything you need and make your stay very comfortable. The hostel is really clean and the location is peaceful and surrounded by nature. We recommend this hostel for a quite and peaceful stay in Padang!

The View guest house has stunning views overlooking Air Manis. Wonderful, friendly, helpful host. Clean rooms and a good breakfast. Walking distance to beachside village and Air Manis. Also possible to walk into town along a quiet cement trail with lovely trees etc. (pedestrians and the odd motorbike only). You can see monkeys along the trail and also some interesting Chinese graves. The guesthouse is in the perfect spot. Beautiful sunsets from verandah and front rooms.
