Rude manager attempting to enter my room frequently whilst I was lying on the bed. No after hours contact phone answered. Sloppy housekeeping. Illegal things.

We liked the neat and tidy rooms with adequate space and doors between main and secondary sleeping areas for privacy. There was a bbq in the common area, so we were able to prepare a nice hot dinner after spending a day on the road. The motel is conveniently located in walking distance to groceries and cafés. Would consider this property again for a stopover.

Our unit had a kitchen-in-bathroom situation (one sink & area for both personal grooming and washing up), which was a bit inconvenient, especially when someone was brushing their teeth while another person wanted to get something out of the fridge... but we were only staying one night to break up a road trip, so not the worst. It was a public holiday, so there was some confusion with reception opening times, but everything was prepared for our arrival; contactless check-in and check-out were a breeze.

No staff to be seen ever, at all. I tried to find someone , anyone on 19 th at 8.00 am. I gave up as I had an appointment and left so I still don’t know about the payment. I consider this to be rude and bad management! Lorraine

Still waiting for a refund after 20+ business days. My room was disgusting because it had: - mouldy spaghetti in the microwave - rubbish under the bed - white stain crusted on the sink - sink wasn’t even cleaned (I had to wash baby’s bottles in sink) - cups had coffee in them and tomato sauce crusted on to cups - water that previously had been drunk was still in the cups in the fridge

The location was perfect and as we were travelling with a small dog, and the Castle Motel (formerly Kansas City Motel) being pet friendly, suited our criteria. We stayed in July and the heating in the room was good and the bed was very comfortable. It was very clean and the room was large, with a table and two chairs which was handy for eating our takeaway dinner. The new owner was helpful and friendly.

If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. It is a basic motel, perhaps a bit run-down with a bit of work to be done, particularly in the bathrooms. However, there are new owners and they will hopefully put their mark on the motel and bring it up to a more appealing standard, both externally and internally.
