Witnessed a domestic dispute between the man and woman at the front desk when I arrived. He was yelling at her at the front desk, then the fight turned physical, before they noticed I was standing there waiting to check in.

What a unique experience! It's like staying at a museum. The lobby reminded me of a western movie with the double staircase and all of the natural wood finishes. The owner was extremely personable and went out of his way to ensure our contentment. Thanks Charlie.
A mattress was very firm until we switched rooms. No coffee pot.

Quirky. Faded grandeur. Nice fluffy towels.

Heritage building. Staff. Staff very good outlining the history of the building.
Also I left my glasses and cell phone. I was informed and they were forwarded to me within a couple of days.
although it was quiet it is beside the pulp mill. Front desk was not manned, just a phone number to call. as my cell phone needed charging it was an issue.

The Rodmay is a beautiful old gem. it was built in 1910 so be prepared for all that was 1910.
We loved our stay, it still is an elegant old hotel.
The owner was great , very responsive and helpful.
I loved this place but be prepared for a very old building.

We loved the feel of the hotel. We didn’t know the history of the place when we booked it, but loved learning that it was the first commercial building in Powell River and built in 1911. The hotel does a great job of showcasing this history with historical photographs on the walls and antique items displayed throughout. There were several bookcases of books (presumably for guests to borrow) and a cozy seating area. We spent some time wandering through the lobby checking out the artifacts and photos. It felt almost like a museum. We really enjoyed the historic feel of the place and it seemed like the owners were proud of that aspect of this hotel.
It’s an old building and it is showing its age in many ways. That was not at all a problem for us. There were, however, a few things that could have been improved that would have improved our stay, primarily the mattress. The pillows were very comfortable, but the mattress was HORRIBLE! It was hard and uncomfortable and we both tossed and turned and woke with bad backs and sore hips. Perhaps even worse, was the terrible scrunching/crunching sound that it would make every time you moved an inch. I have never experienced a mattress quite as awful.

Heritage building in the historic centre of a former mill town. Well restored and well maintained with a rustic appeal. Due to post pandemic labour shortages the dining room and other amenities were closed.
It is what it is

Did not have breakfast, or any meals there, not available. Coffee and tea in room was good. Bed very comfortable, pillows. Very comfortable. Temp in room was just right. Very peaceful and quiet.
Suggestions, either a bar or. Bath mat for bottom of tub. A small table or more hooks to hang, robes in bathroom, maybe another small lamp , even with light and other lamp it was very dim, at one end of the room.

The property had the best value out of all the other options. It was clean and comfortable.

This is a very old historic building and is filled and furnished with genuine antiques of the period - even in the bedrooms. After the surprise of seeing something entirely different than we expected from the booking info, we were just delighted to be there. If history is not an interest for guests it would have been very disappointing. We loved it and were actually sorry we could not book another night or too, as our plans were too set. We loved the history told to us by an older, local staff member. (It seemed that the management of the hotel was being taken over by new people perhaps not as knowledgeable.
It is a very old building and there was a permeating musty smell to the whole hotel. The bed mattresses were not comfortable (but the linens and floors and furniture were immaculate). The location was in the old, historic area and a distance from most restaurants and sightseeing. Well, in a small town, distance is relative.

There was no breakfast offered .The only thing I liked about the Rodway was that it had a new air conditioner, thank goodness: cause it was 33 degrees out. There was a market just up the street you could walk to.
The bed was horrible , hard and squeaky .One of the facecloths was dirty. Under the bed didn’t look like it had been cleaned for months. Also, there were piles of cigarette butts on the ground right near the entrance to the hotel.

Historic hotel with potential. The hotel is located in a rather industrial environment in the north of Powell River. At first glance the surroundings may seem a bit dull, but there is life in the form of restaurants, a cinema, a pub and during the day some shops and a café.
The reception at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The lobby is decorated in an interesting style reminiscent of a film set. However, our room was very hot and stuffy and had a strange smell. The shower provided hot water - after a while. There was mobile air conditioning system in the room, but it made too much noise to really use it overnight. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and large TV in the room. At the time of our stay, there was no possibility to have breakfast in the hotel or to use room service, as the owner said there was a lack of staff. This is something to consider if you arrive late from the ferry, for example.
In summary, the hotel has the potential to become a great place with historical charm, but there is still a long way to go.
Air Conditioning of Room No.4. The room was unbelievably hot and sticky. There was a strange smell in the room.

The front lobby was probably about the only thing the hotel has going for it.
The smell is quite strong, however its quite old (1910) so to be expected. Some moneyand love needs to go into the hotel. We were looking forward to experiencing the historical hotel, sadly when we arrived to our room we quickly discovered beds as hard as rock and bathrooms that were extremely out of date and not well maintained.
I returned the ket to reception and found a room up the road, getting a refund though is proving to be difficult, I may just have to eat $147. This hotel would be worth maybe $50-$75 a night.
If you are a ghost seeker then this is a great place with amazing history but comfort, customer service and any higher standards you may have, don't even think about it.

The owner was very accommodating and knowledgeable and friendly.
The beds, though clean, were very uncomfortable. Too hard. Maybe a mattress pad would help.

They charged me $146.00 and I had Covid. I tested positive the morning we were leaving . The website says that you should not go if you are positive , we followed the rules and it cost us. We told Booking .com and the hotel before we went . I will never stay at this hotel again and never use booking.com .

If this was my only option in town for my next scheduled visit, I would change my plans.
Mattress was so hard I brought in a hiking mattress and put under the sheets.
Building so old the floor is way off level. Place had an old haunted vibe to it.
