Quirky vibe. Artistic room decorating. Not your Holiday Inn. Beautiful site. Comfortable bed. Room was clean. Worlds largest shower stall.
It was very hot in the room with little ability to cool it down. Powerful ceiling fan was helpful. No air conditioning and small slider windows at floor level to let air in. There were two opening windows on the entrance side but we had to pull down shades to block 24/7 hallway lights. Room started cooling down about 1 AM. Also bright lights outside with mesh curtains to partially block them.

Very quaint, need tidy hotel with a cottage like vibe. Our room overlooked a koi pond with beautiful trees and flowers. All the essentials were there and it was a quiet location. If you're looking for something local, this is your place.

unique, quiet, and peaceful
the property seemed a little unkept and while the room was clean on the surface, you could tell it had been a while since there had been a deep clean that really paid attention to details.

We were in the King Room that overlooked the Koi Pond and garden. Beautiful room with both a heater(it can be cold in Volcano) and a fan. Bathrooms are lively tile with nice showers.
Parking at this location is tight/narrow, especially if some doesn’t park perfectly between lines or has a big car or truck, but we managed ok. .

the room itself was great. clean and very interesting lots of rock, cool shower and wall fireplace
the outside was run down, neglected and dirty needed a good cleaning. in our kitchenette we were left a dirty, used sponge to use. TV in room but not hooked up to service. feel we overpaid for the room

This is a quaint and unique property. Each room is designed in a volcano theme. We had three rooms in our party, all very different but well done. It’s a funky property but comfortable and very cool. Definitely worth the experience and very close to volcano National park. Feels like you’re in the jungle.
The grounds were not as lush and well-maintained as pictured. There were no staff on site. The tv on the wall is a “future amenity” but not yet available. Individual rooms should be pictured to allow for personal choices.

Room 103 was huge and very comfortable, with an en-suite bathroom which included an enormous, two-person walk-in shower area. Check-in was easy and virtual. Slow time at the Chalet... we were the only guests on the property. Room had heaters for the cool nights, coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. Nearby convenience store can supply basic food and snack items. Nearby Kilauea Lodge has excellent dining (make reservations) as well as The Rim restaurant in Volcano National Park. Also good for dining is Lava Rock Cafe. Room had broken reading lamp but staff replaced/repaired it the nest day - great response - kudos to the staff.
This property needs a little exterior sprucing-up - not easy to do in a rain forest. Lack of breakfast options - before Covid, there was fruit, juices, pastry and coffee in a common area in the mornings. Perhaps this will be so again after pandemic lifts a bit.

Kitchen had all the amenities we could use for cooking meals and making coffee and tea. Very close to Volcano NP activities. Comfortable bed and very clean. The property was beautiful, full of fruit trees and bamboo. We went for a wall in the evning around the quiet neighborhood.
Hot tub was closed

It was quaint, away from crowds, quiet, pretty location. Bathrooms updated, a very well stocked and clean. Beds were clean and fresh.
Kitchen could use some better dishes and cookware. Would have liked to turn off fans over table, it was cold. TV would be nice, but we played cards and games.

Prior to arrival, the communication on what to do and where to go from the owner was fully appreciated. We were met with COVID safety standards, and provided an absolutely beautiful rooms that complimented the beautiful surroundings of the space. Room was clean and spacious and enjoyed the decor which was designed by the owner himself.
Parking would have been a little difficult if it was fully booked; however, did not have have an issue during our stay. Only because of COVID the hot tub was closed-which is fully understood during these times.
