Very expensive

Breakfast was good.

The room was dusty. The water from the shower was dirty. It took a lot water down the pipes to get clear water.

construction work was going on and we were not informed which meant the roof top pool area was closed which was a main reason for booking. also woken up early by the workmen.

A nice 'boutique' hotel in a reasonable location. Decor, cleanliness, staff all high standard. Food was good.

Hotel being renovated. This meant the building was covered in scaffolding , no water for long periods and no breakfast facility on one of the days. So the Juliet balcony with a glimpse of the sea was a view of scaffolding. To be fair when we complained we did get a partial refund - but you do not want to be spending your holidays complaining. We should have been warned and we would have gone elsewhere. Even if no renovation work the price is way too high for the standard of the hotel( which is a common them for the hotels we stayed in on our trip around Soouthern California) Also , each day at 7am a huge garbage collection truck collects all the garbage from the hotel - the noise would most certainly wake you up ( as it did us). Maybe the hotel could find another location for its garbage away from the bedrooms?

We asked for an upgrade and they said they gave one, but it was 2 full sized beds so it didn’t seem like an upgrade? They did give a cute bottle of wine and 4 mini macarons with a handwritten card for my sister’s 30th so that was sweet though.

receptionists weren’t as friendly as I would have expected

Room was small given the room rate. Light in room was inadequate. Bathroom was very small and furnishings were sparse.
