La accoglienza. Conduzione familiare, perciò ti fanno sentire come a casa.
Purtroppo si sente tutto in questa struttura non ci sono stanze insonorizzate, perciò se ci sono ospiti rumorosi o qualcuno si fa la doccia a mezzanotte non dormi più. E lo stesso succede al mattino.

A beautiful heritage home that has been converted into a homestay, my stay here was absolutely delightful. The house has basic facilities, nothing fancy or ultra luxurious but that is the idea behind booking in a homestay. The family members who runs the homestay are very kind and helpful. It looks like money is not their priority but they genuinely love to meet and help people. I felt I was staying in a home with a loving and kind family. They went out of their way to help me out and facilitate many things that I required to do like train reservations/ballet tickets/day tours etc., and they did it out of genuine concern. The breakfast is delicious and sumptuous. Rooms are good size and comfortable. Excellent location, very close to the heart of the city Malioboro street and there are many eating joints at walking distance. Tours can be booked easily from the homestay at reasonable prices.
Although I would say this property is value for money because it is a review but also I would like to add that kindness and humanity cannot be valued in terms of money. Thanks to Mrs and Mr Andari, Danny, Ranno and Daniella. I will always remember you.

The hosts were incredibly hospitable. A real homestay. Every morning a different dish for breakfast. Also they shared dinner with us when Danny (musician and friend of family) was having his birthday
Only one real bathroom in which one can take a shower. There are 2 more combined shower-toilets, bit they are too small

Location is great, just a 5 minute walk to a full of life city centre.
The staff were really attentive too, we could put a wash on for free which was really appreciated.
The first day we had their typical dish for breakfast, which was lovely, but unfortunately the following day they just offered us peanut butter and jam with toast, which was disappointing.
The double room with private bathroom is really small, there isn't even room to open a backpack.
Breakfast we had on the second day was poor and it wasn't local, which is what we were expecting.
Particularly I didn't like the fact that they kept piling up people's shoes on top of mine. There was plenty of room on the shoe rack.

Breakfast was included in the booking, we were served with different meals every morning, the best was when we need to leave at 4am on the last day, Ros Andari packed 2 sets of breakfast for us, booked the taxi for us and even woke up to send us off. This gesture money can't buy. We were deeply touched.
Homestay bed room was abit small for us, we requested up-grade & willing to pay for it, but there was not available.

The only room bookable was very tiny and dirty, shared toilet. Not what expected. the owner was aware of it but had no other solution. I had to change hotel without sleeping there.

It was interesting to see the decor and layout of a traditional Javanese home, and of course the hosts were extremely hospitable and kind to us. We felt so welcomed by them. They chatted with us, cooked us authentic food and were so determined to help us in any way that they can. I highly recommend staying at Pendopo Andari for at least a night if you are coming to Yogyakarta!
It was a little worn down but there is good effort in maintaining the home - it is expected as this is a real home opened to guests so it was definitely a unique experience. The warmth of the hosts made up for any discomfort that a city-dweller may feel.

Andari and his family were so welcoming and hospitable. They were really attentive to our needs and helped us organise our trip to the temples. The fact that they offer free breakfast, complimentary water, teas and coffees made it for us. Rooms were very clean and air con worked. Showers were warm and kept tidy. We felt so at home we stayed 4 nights. Would 100% recommend for a friendly stay.
Some harmless fruit flies in the ceiling but they sprayed it for us which kept them at bay.

Pondok Andari is a refurbished heritage house. I am the first guest since the lockdown. The owner is friendly. He upgraded my room so that I have my own bathroom inside.
It is located in the alley so that there is no parking lot but it is a walking distance to Gudeg Widjilan. Unfortunalely most of touristic sites in Jogja are still close, they are being renovated during the lockdown.

Love the room, atmosphere and this hotel close to everywhere

- Very pretty common area.
- Location is fantastic.
- Hosts are nice enough.
- Too expensive for what it is. Photos don't reflect reality. Not very clean either.
- Very little privacy, especially for a young couple.
- Only one shared toilet + shower room for all the guests, which the owners also use.
- Despite being the only guests, we were placed in the room right next to the reception, with very little soundproofing.

A very welcoming homestay who couldn't have done any more to help me with bookings, directions and requirements. They even went to get my rucksack repaired for free and provided fresh homemade biscuits and snacks throughout my time there. The property is beautifully traditional and whilst very close to the city centre it is away from the road so is very tranquil and relaxing. Thank you for a very special stay.
