Garni hotel Castle Bridge

We arrived by train and walked to the hotel, mostly downhill or level, maybe 30 minutes. Mapy (Czech App) worked very well and got us there. We were a little early but no problem checking in. We booked a deluxe double river view on the ground floor with a terrace, very nice. This is a two-story hotel and the rooms above had balconies. It appears recently renovated/updated with laminate floor in the property. There is a lift/elevator to the second floor. Our room opened onto a patio and the river, very nice. Table and 3 chairs outside for use. The room had 2 singles pushed together and a 3rd separate single. TV with 2 or 3 English channels (NHK Japan-good). Work desk with chair, power outlets at desk, nice. Decent blackout curtains. Fridge (mini-bar), bathroom had tub/shower combo, ample towers and liquid soap dispensers. Breakfast had great variety, cold cuts, hot items, aspics (2 different ones-vg), pate, cheeses, breads, cereals, cakes, croissants, coffee, tea, juices, all vg. Very nice hotel, about 5 minute walk to the main square and can walk to nearby sites. Great location, nice staff, good breakfast and if we come back, we would stay here again.

The tub/shower is awkward to enter.

Exceptional view from the room's balcony to the river and castle. Hotel fits the "old town" look on the outside, but is very modern in the inside. Breakfast tables are available inside and outside next to the river.

There is a rapid in the river near the hotel, which is quite audible. For me personal this "white noise" is no issue and with closed windows you won't hear it at all. The "City Lounge" bar, which is open Fri and Sat from 21:00-04:00, is located right next to it. We were there during the week and the bar was closed, so I can't tell if that's noisy or not.

We stayed in a room that accommodated our family of four. The balcony overlooked the castle and river. Breakfast was delicious. Parking was a short walk. Everything was perfect.

Location and facilities themselves were comfortable and modern. Very nice bathroom and view is outstanding.

The staff. We arrived and the front door was locked so we rang through the intercom. There was no advance notice this might be required and we could hear the front desk ringing. It took 15 minutes, and when the manager arrived she did not acknowledge that we had been waiting for someone to come. She did later offer us drink tickets but only after we came to the desk and asked about the bar next door. Then the following morning, the power went out, which was not the hotel's fault. The kitchen staff made do with what they could serve, but they were unsmiling and cold. We were in town to attend my father-in-law's funeral and had nice clothes requiring an iron and plans to style hair with hair dryer. The manager told us the power should return by 10am, no guarantee of course, which is standard check-out time. I asked if we could stay later to get properly dressed explaining our reason. The same manager said only until 10:30am, regardless of if the power would be on or by then, as they needed to clean the room for incoming guests. Check in was not until 4. No flexibility, no problem-solving. I found her demeanor to be the opposite of hospitable.
