We loved our stay!! I travelled with my brother and it was a perfect vacation spot for us!! Early morning cold plunge on the magnificent lake!!!

We had a lovely time. The weather was perfect and the views from the dock were breathtaking. The house was super cute and very clean. We did have an issue with the downstairs freezer leaking, but the property manager was extremely responsive. The only thing that would have been nice would have been to have the cobwebs brushed away on the dock. I'd definitely recommend this property and we will be back.

Was a very nice stay. I wish it was a bit closer to town but no fault of the home itself. The kyaks were full of spilled coffee and trash but understand how that gets missed. Overall the boat house needs a good cleaning. But again, house and overall stay were great. No complaints

We enjoy our quick vacation.. view is insane.. I got a good workout from the stairs to the boat house but it was definitely worth it!

119 steps to the lake and no Internet. Kudzu overwhelming what must have been gorgeous landscaping. But the home was really nice. And the location is legendary. We had a nice time in spite the above beefs.

Will begin with positives: FANTASTIC view! Separation of units would be great for 2 couples. Enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning. Air conditioning and hot water were NOT issues....plenty of both! Nice W/D setup. However, the kitchenwares could use some attention. There was only ONE wineglass. Both skillets were warped to the point that it was difficult to fry bacon. There were only 2 spoons. Dishwasher wheel was broken so loading/unloading was tricky. We were also not prepared to leave the trash IN the unit until the end of our stay. There is a rule against putting it outside, which I understand. Don't nobody want bear visitors. However, picking it up once during the week would've been helpful.
The bathroom in the lower unit has a clawfoot tub/shower and, while it is pretty, it is very impractical for a rental. Where do you put your soap?? And I'm very thankful my hubby and I were nimble enough to climb over the sides of the tub. Plus, the plastic shower curtains make you feel like you are showering in a plastic bag. Just very, very impractical. Upstairs is better, but if you are wider than 2 ft., good luck. Lastly, please make sure no one in your party has any sort of issue whatsoever with stairs as there are a LOT. This has been noted in other reviews, but I just want to reiterate that its a LOT. I'm very thankful we didn't bring my in-laws as there is no way they could've navigated them.

The house was what we expected. The toilets, showers, kitchen area, bedrooms, living areas were clean. The bed and bedding was comfortable. There were plenty of towels and wash rags provided. There was plenty of start up soaps, cleaners, garbage bags. When we were trying to find the place, we drove past it. The mailbox was laying on the ground and you could not see the house number. When we arrived at the house the bottom units door knob was barely attached. this was easily fixed with a screwdriver. There were a lot of ants in the unit. We were very disappointed looking out the windows as they were covered with dust and cobwebs and spiders. There are about 100 steps down to the boat house. I had previously read about that, so I was not surprised by it and it was not a problem for us. I would’ve liked to seen the brush cleared away from the path a little bit more. You could tell something had been living in the boathouse. There were a lot of old Floaties in there, someone had left some old containers of worms and the windows needed a good cleaning. We were afraid to move anything as we didn’t know what we would find lying underneath things. With a general cleaning this space could be exceptional. Overall it was a nice place. Views were beautiful. We saw lots of wildlife which we enjoyed. This place could easily go from 3 to 5 with just some general maintenance and cleaning of the exterior windows and spaces. It does have Wi-Fi but it’s slow. Perfect if you want to be off grid

Both apartments are very well appointed. The kitchens are well-equipped. We had a rainy week but still enjoyed ourselves. The property management company was very prompt with bringing us a propane tank refill and helping us with the alarm system which triggered when the power went out due to a storm. Thank you for a relaxing stay.

location was fantastic. especially since it was a little chilly we appreciated being able to bundle up and enjoy the lake view. We also made it out to Chimney Rock (~20 min away) and nearby restaurants to enjoy the view. We had a little bit of trouble finding the property because we arrived at night but was easier during the daylight. Also since we arrived at night we settled into the top floor which was more accessible, only to find the next morning the real beauty was better seen from the lower floor which connected to the deck that looked out on the lake. Learn from our mistake before you settle in - stay on the bottom floor! we stayed on the top floor due to laziness and having already unpacked our cooler into the refrigerator but we'd do it differently next time! Hope to stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay. The steps were too much for my husband age 67 with a bad back, but our daughter and I hiked in the area and we all loved the lake view.

We made reservations to celebrate my birthday and the main thing I was looking for was lake front. This home is exactly that. The boat house has a sitting area that was perfect. Be aware, there are several steps that you will need to climb down and back up but it is worth it! The home has two separate living areas with full kitchens so it is great for larger families or a group of friends. I highly recommend this location!

Awesome place. Lots of stairs to the lake. (If you visit with older folks).
It’s definitely two separate spaces. Which is nice but when we booked I don’t believe this was stated in the rental. (It’s updated now saying no interior stairs to both homes).
Overall it’s a great place. Very busy lake!!!

Beautiful Lake Lure
Great property! Clean and had everything we needed. Loved the 2 separate apartment style areas to stay. Our kids enjoyed their own space. The boathouse dock is fun to jump off and swim/float around. Not a lot of outdoor furniture so glad we had a few of our own chairs. We would stay here again!

Location/View: I literally cried when I first saw the view, and I cried when I had to leave- I think that says it all! I love that there are several spots around the property to sit and see the beautiful hills from different angles. I kayaked the entire perimeter of the lake, and Le Petite is definitely located in one of the most beautiful arms of Lake Lure.
House: I love that Le Petite is what I call a “peek-a-boo” home, meaning that you can see great views of the lake, especially from the downstairs deck, but that you can’t see much of the house from the lake because it’s snuggled into the trees and private. The fact that Le Petite is basically two apartments that don't connect inside was perfect for my sister and I who loved being together during the day and then enjoyed having spaces to ourselves to wind down at night. I love that the house was a short gravel drive off the main road (I didn't want to park directly on the main road), and that the drive was not that steep- I have a front wheel drive Mazda CX-9 that did great, and my sister had a small rental car- a Kia Soul that didn't have as much acceleration, but did fine as well. I stayed in the top apartment and thought the furniture and beds were very comfortable.
Activities: I love that 2 kayaks and various floats came with the house and that the kayaks already had permits to be on the lake. I kayaked the entire perimeter of the lake in 5 hours, and got stunning photos of The Sleeping Lady mountains from the water. My sister and I also enjoyed fantastic food at the Lake House Restaurant and also the narrated pontoon boat tour of the lake which was full of interesting information and friendly people. We also drove 35 min to Chimney Rock State Park and had a wonderful day of hiking (and strenuous). But honestly, I loved the views from the boat house so much that I just sat out there and read my book and took pictures for most of the day.
Customer Service: The Happy Stays app was wonderful- very helpful information about the area and easy to use, and the Mr. Lake Lure staff was fantastic- called me a couple times on my long drive up to make sure I hadn’t gotten lost and that I could get into the house ok and asked if I needed anything. Their friendliness added to my enjoyment of the trip.
Cried when I left. I hope to come back! Thank-you Le Petite Chauteau!

Relaxing and peaceful
We loved our stay no complaints here. Property was clean and private tucked into the woods. The dock was great for swimming and we parked our boat there. Beautiful view from deck. My parents stayed on one level and me, spouse and 5 year old on another. Unit was well stocked. Property manager brought us some extra sheets when requested. Steep walk to lake so if you can't handle steps might not work for you but we enjoyed the exercise. Bring bug spray.

We had a good time, although it was challenging finding the entrance of property without signs and street lights and loss of GPS.

We had never used VRBO before, and are happy we did! The house and location were absolutely beautiful! No neighbors, no noise, just the sounds of happy boaters driving by on the lake. The night time critter sounds were great too, as there are a lot of bugs at night. The house and linens were very clean. I brought my own sheets and didn’t even use them. Our kids 18-21 stayed in the upstairs and my husband and I stayed below where the beautiful deck and table were. We kayaked (our own), swam, went ATVing, hiked Chimney Rock, and went fishing. (Not many fish in lake, assuming since it’s manmade) Everyone we spoke to regarding the house were very polite and helpful. The one and only thing we didn’t love was the clawfoot tub. Although very pretty, it was tough to get in and out of and was quite slippery. I also recommend putting some sort of rack in the clawfoot tub to hold soap, shampoo/conditioner. And the liner would stick to you when you showered, not sure there is much you can do about that. There are 87 steps from the house to the lake, but that’s expected when living on a mountain/lake. They were sturdy and had landings if you needed a breather. The steps help burn calories from the excess eating/drinking done on vacay. 😉The steps going into the water are very slippery, not unusual, just be cautious. Otherwise, this house overall was AMAZING! It was just what we were looking for. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Thank you for sharing your home with us. It is honestly what we are looking for in a vacation/retirement home.👍🏻 Awesome property!

The lake itself is a beautiful place to visit however, we were disappointed with the house. It wasnt clean to our specifications and there were numerous items broke and not in working condition. We contacted the property manager twice and we were told that they would send someone out and noone showed up. The pictures are very decieving. We asked prior to the trip about the driveway since we were bringing our boat and we were told it would fit, but were not told that there was no way to turn it around and very difficult to back up the mountain. We had two children and an older adult vacationing with us and there are a total of 200 steps down to the boat dock without a handrail. There really should be pictures in the listing of the steps so people can be prepared and know what they are purchasing. Overall I do not recommend this house.

Gorgeous view
AMAZING VIEW! Check in was a breeze. The house was clean, but the windows & porches could use a good cleaning. The upstairs definitely needs some shades/blinds on the windows. I understand that’s “the view” but there should be an option for privacy. The kitchens need more cookware. That’s not something you want to have to pack. The stairs most definitely need lighting. I loved the privacy of being off the road. I was in a AWD truck however a warning of how rutted out the driveway is would of been nice in case I decided to bring a low sitting car. One more thing would of been helpful.. I would mention in the description of the rental that kayaks/boats need a permit to be on the lake. We wouldn’t have known if we didn’t look at the lake info. Overall very pleased with the house & Mr. Lake Lure vacation rentals! Thanks!

Short stay near Asheville
Beautiful location. However, we were given the wrong code for the key box so we had to wait 2 hours upon arrival before we received the correct code. Luckily there is a separate upstairs apartment where were were able to wait, to avoid the 35 degree temps.
Once inside our apartment (downstairs from the other, with outside staircase only), we found it to be pretty, but the kitchen was not nearly equipped to produce dinner. We had to go outside and up to the upstairs apartment and borrow pots and pans and knives to just make dinner.
The wifi is terrible. We rebooted the box (which is located in the upper apartment) and found it to be a little better, but if you are trying to work remotely from this location, it is unlikely you will be able to do so.
Every single time the heat switched on, the furnace (above us) sounded like a large growling bear. Hard to sleep through.
We tried communicating with the property manager during our stay, but were left hanging without response.
As I said, the property is beautiful. If they can improve their customer service and provide better kitchen essentials for BOTH apartments, and get the furnace serviced, the rental will be a far better experience.

Location & View
We had a wonderful stay at Le Petite Chateau. Like the other reviews mentioned, the house was super clean and stocked with the essentials, and the view is amazing. The property manager was easy to work with and even called to check in on us the day we arrived. However, I would not recommend this house for anyone elderly or with mobility issues. The stairs down to the dock are very steep and the claw tub/shower on the bottom level would be hard to use. We would consider staying here again though as the location & privacy were perfect for us.
