Beautiful remote place surrounded by an impressive landscape. It was really pleasant to spend time in there brand new and cleverly designed spaces. The staff was very welcoming, kind and caring. They do homemade diner.

The guest house was beautiful. Gués house to me is a misnomer. I would call it an inn. The owners are really nice. I there is an on staff chef that will make dinner if you like. I had dinner one of the two evenings & it was truly delicious. Fresh caught fish cooked with lots of garlic & tomatoes from a greenhouse. It was served with boiled new potatoes & a wonderful wine.

I do not have enough words to describe how much we loved our stay at Guesthouse Nyp. The house is located in a beautiful isolated setting, with mountains in the back overlooking the ocean. Marked trails lead to the ocean, to a river, and up the mountain. Rooms are gorgeous with minimalist design. Beds are comfy with oversized individual comforters.
Treat yourself and plan to have dinner and breakfast - which you need to order in advance of your stay - that is generously and lovingly prepared by the hosts. So far, the best meals of our Iceland trip.
We will recommend this guesthouse to everyone we know as a must stay in their next trip to Iceland.
Loved everything

I had a room in the former cowshed with my own bathroom. Beautiful room, friendly staff and lovely meals. Off the beaten track -makes Nyp a special place to stay.

we didnt sleep there
out itinerary was changed and we drove almost 150 km from south to this place, just because we booked already and we should return again 150 km more the day after on 23 rd September, after this we reached and the place was not ready, they sent us another hotel without extra payment but again we drove more 30 km on a bad road, new place was hotel and no kitchen, we had already shopping to make our dinner which costed extra for us plus we were urged to use restaurant , 23rd was our last day in Iceland.

Peaceful beautiful location, country comfort and excellent finishes. Really enjoyed the stay.
The shared bathroom is a bit out the way but it didn't really matter because it was such a pleasure to stay at the guesthouse.

Thora, the host, studied sculpture and is an artist. It shows in the way she has designed this space - fresh flowers, small artistic touches, a little gallery, lovely color combinations, and windows that frame the breathtaking views. It is a historic concrete barn the owners have converted into a guesthouse - an artchitectural gem. It is secluded, quiet, and perfect for reflective retreat-type travel. Thora is lovely and full of good suggestions for things to do in the area. She is also a great cook and her dinners are well worth it and augmented by local greens and veggies. The nearest town is at least 30 minutes away, and there are no refrigerators in the room, so plan to eat her breakfast and dinner. You can get lunch when you are out and about during the day. Or bring something easy with you.
It was unclear from the listing that breakfast was not included in the price. So be forewarned to add that to your bill/travel budget or plan ahead and bring breakfast with you. She makes her own bread to completment the typical Scandinavian breakfast, so it is worth it.

The hostess, Thóra, was very welcoming and so thoughtful that she posted back to us in England one of our belongings that we had left! The breakfasts were everything we needed; the rooms and accommodation were spotless. Guesthouse Nýp was a wonderful place to sit outside (in late July) and watch the sun set around 11pm! There is ample car parking, and you can drive to the door of the guest suite to unload any heavy cases.
The towels were rather hard, and the rooms would benefit from clothes storage (such as wardrobes with drawers / shelves) for those staying more than one night.

We had an amazing stay. The house is beautiful, immersed in the nature. The owners are available and respectful. We would love to come back and spend a few more days at this fantastic house.

Such a special place 😍 First of all - the hospitality. Thora was amazing, starting from upgrading us to the room with private bathroom and finishing with the amazing food she cooked for us (with the fresh fish and greens from her garden). This place is beyond special, so many people invested their time and skills for this house to exist in the “middle of nowhere”. It’s a retreat place for people who like quiet and peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed spectacular sunsets, short hikes around the house and general interior of the house.
The walls are not really soundproof but guests were mostly quiet 🤫

Design, Elegance, Art, Inspiration, Nature, Silence, amazing Views and Cordiality of the owners - this is Nýp and so much more - we cannot find words. You have to feel it and to enjoy this extraordinary place in Iceland.
And you have to enjoy the dinner of Thora...

The house is a pleasure to explore-- a stunning modern restoration of an old farmhouse and barn. The owners are lovely, warm people (artists) who have poured their hearts into this unique home. The location is stunning-- far from everything with breathtaking views of the ocean, and hills behind and a river beside the property to explore. Ask to eat dinner-- it's delicious and made with so much thought from local ingredients, and from the garden. This is a very special place.
Nothing!

We enjoyed a great three-course dinner and the breakfast was basic but very good.

Beautiful place and in a lovely natural surrounding
The owner a bit uptight, did not feel as welcome as we would have liked to. A little like being in a museum where things could not be touched.
