This was a great spot to enjoy Ambleside. Moments walk from any place you’d like to go in town and the Town itself is central to awesome walks and hikes in any direction. Place was very clean upon arrival and owner was very responsive to any needs. We loved the place and really enjoyed the fireplace in the evening after hikes. Would love to come back.

Great location for everything Ambleside has to offer. As others have noted, getting parked on the street is pretty much impossible but didn’t cause a major issue for us. Cottage was very well heated & cosy. Didn’t really use the kitchen other than for breakfast so can’t comment on how well equipped it is but seemed to have everything you’d need.

Clare cottage was wonderful. The kitchen and both bathrooms seemed recently remodeled and are very nice, especially the one with a heated floor! The cottage was just two minutes from restaurants and coffee shops but on a quiet street.

The property is centrally located, very clean and modern and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay.

Delightful cottage ,decorated and furnished beautifully with everything we could want . Great position close to shops, pubs and restaurants of Ambleside. An ideal base for walkers we didnt use the car after arrival till the day we departed.

We loved this property & the quality / facilities made us all feel relaxed & at home. The location in the middle of town made it easy to go out & use the local restaurants / shops. When we come back to the Lake District we will definitely want to rent this property again.

Couldn't be better, unless you need a garden or outside space. Three very spacious bedrooms (one en suite), really nice lounge diner, well-equipped kitchen, and it's slap in the middle of Ambleside. Even has a parking permit which is really helpful. Highly recommended.

The description and photos of this cottage don’t do it justice. It is even more charming in person! We were four adults from Washington, DC. Clare Cottage was a delight - clean, comfortable, cozy, and updated appliances and amenities. We were able to park on street and walk everywhere! We ate tasty tapas around the corner and did Chinese take away one night. We were glad to have a grocer and a pharmacy at the end of the block. We walked (a short walk) to the pier to take a boat ride on Lake Windermere. We also drove to Grasmere one day to hike and eat gingerbread. We were always happy to return to Clare Cottage at the end of the day! Thank you for sharing your delightful house. We would definitely return.

Nice little cottage in an excellant location. Parking is an issue in the whole of ambleside but free off street parking only 5 mins walk away. Owner was always response to queries. Would recommend.

Beautifully presented cottage. We, a group of 4 adults and 3 children, stayed here in Feb 19. We found it spacious, bright, comfortable and clean. The interior has recently been refurbished to a high spec, with modern kitchen and bathrooms. You are a 2 minute walk into Ambleside and all it has to offer. We highly recommend the Chinese takeaway called Lucky Dragon, and also had an excellent meal at Tweedies in Grasmere. We walked up Orrest Head, High Sweden Bridge, Todd Crag, and Easedale Tarn, all of which are local child-friendly walks. I’d especially recommend Todd Crag which has excellent views of Windermere, although make sure you have a map and compass as the paths are unclear.

My wife and I took the outlaws away for a few days. The cottage was ideal as it had bedrooms and bathrooms on seperate floors so we had our own space but shared the kitchen and living area. It was a very short walk to the town centre so we could manage without the car. The only slight problem we had was not being able to override the heating, spent one evening sat in coats. If we had been staying longer I would have rung the owner to sort it out but overall a very nice stay and we would stay again.

Loved our short stay in Clare Cottage. The location in the centre of Ambleside was perfect. The cottage itself was well appointed with good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Comfy living room too! Highly recommended!

It was just brilliant to stay in this lovely cottage, considering it is in the middle of Ambleside it is so quiet, you have all the amenities in the house, its so modern, pretty and comfortable, the kitchen has everything and there is a DVD player with films for you to watch and games in the cupboard if you fancy playing a few board games. Lovely the fact that if you fancy having a mooch around Ambleside or popping to the local its all within a 2 minute walking distance, plus there is a parking permit for your car and it is relatively easy to get parked. A big thank you to the owner she has been great with help and guidance, the instructions were perfect, definitely one to put on the list to stop again - there is nothing that you could be disappointed with here - enjoy your holiday.
