We've stayed in this apartment twice now - this visit, and a prior trip in 2020. It's a bit eccentric, but it's hard to beat the space and the location. The steps to the beach are c. 50m from the front door. The interior of the apartment is spacious and good value for money. The kitchen has reasonable cooking equipment, there's a washing machine and drying rack, there's good wardrobe space.

The hosts/ check in person was not very polite. Throughout our stay, we were confronted with parking issues, which doors we could and couldn't leave open or lock, which lights we used, where we stored our sun beds and umbrella. I would receive calls and text messages throughout our stay, as though the hosts/ agent were constantly watching us and checking up us, with messages verging on belligerent and rude. The impression given was that rules were enforced for the sake of rules, rather than any tangible harm/damage/inconvenience actually being caused. I don't speak Italian and made an effort to use google translate to communicate as best as possible, but no effort to communicate in English was reciprocated by the hosts/ agent. I love the flat, but our negative interactions with the hosts/agent means I am unlikely to stay there again.

We come to Otranto every year with our toddler and we love the city and always have a great time. The apartment is in a wonderful location and is very spacious, it’s an older apartment but newly furnished with a new kitchen. Lots of room, particularly if you have a family. You can see the sea from the balcony and it’s just a few short steps from one of the best beaches in Otranto and a short walk to lots of cafes and restaurants.

Check in could be improved, we waited 20 mins as the agency tried to check us into the wrong apartment and the keys weren’t working, we struggled to make the aircon work initially because they didn’t tell us about the wall switch to turn it on, there was no WiFi when we arrived, they had to go and get a modem from the agency, they didn’t explain how the garbage collection worked or that the premises had an outdoor shower and tap we could use after the beach at the rear of the property, we discovered this on the last day. We went to the supermarket shortly after check in and bought €80 worth of food for the week and ended up throwing away meat and dairy products because the fridge was warm for about 5-6 hours after we arrived The agency said probably because they turned it on just before we arrived - no offer of reimbursement. The other challenging issue we had was the owner who lived next door, she has a small dog that she would leave home alone during the day and night and one night it barked incessantly from midnight to 4am, none of us slept. It literally sounded like the dog was in the room with you if you are sleeping in the back bedroom. We rang the agency the next day to ask them to speak to the owner for us and when we saw the owner she accused us of threatening to call the police on her and kept saying “it’s summer, I have a right to go out, what am I supposed to do about the dog?” We had made no mention of the police and the entire interaction was very bizarre and we struggled to get her to see reason. In the end she took the dog out with her when she went out. If more information about the apartment could be offered on check in and the owner continues to be reasonable about her dog, it’s a nice apartment, just be sure to ask for all the information you need when you arrive.
