We had a great time at Old Stoney! The property is wonderful with stunning sunset views down by the water. Linens and towels provided along with all the water toys made packing to go easy. We didn’t spend much time inside the home because we had beautiful weather but it was just as described in photos. The beds were very comfortable and the living areas were cozy and comfortable as well. The owner was quick to respond to any questions. Thanks so much for sharing your home! Great time had by all!

The check-in process was very convenient. Joe (the property owner) was very responsive and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The overall property was well stocked. It was great to have canoe, kayak, and tube available for usage. The slope and distance to the water was very manageable. The kids loved the beach area. Overall had a very enjoyable week at the lake.

We loved the cozy feel of Olde Stoney and the easy accessibility to the lake. Kids took full advantage of all of the "toys"-- rafts, kayak, tube, etc., and especially loved swimming and fishing off the dock. We all enjoyed the firepit and quick boat trips across the lake to both Mariner's Landing and Mitchell's Marina. Home was clean and extremely well stocked-- felt more like a hotel in some ways. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this lovely home in a beautiful location!

The house was secluded and and private. It had a Sandy area for the kids to play in the water. The house had all the kitchen utensils we needed. It had a swing under the porch and a hammock looking over the lake. The owner was always available to answer questions. Our family enjoyed the beautiful lake and would definitely come back.

Olde Stoney was a pure gem. The house was clean, updated and had every amenity you could need on vacation. The homeowners were incredibly helpful and checked in upon our arrival. This house is perfect for families with a wide range of kids- gentle sloping entry to water, deep swimming/boating dock and the owners provide access to lots of water toys (i.e. kayak, canoe, life vests and boat accessories). The downstairs is a teenager's playground with foosball and ping pong. We had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation and fun was had by all ages (4 through 44).

From our first contact with Joe, he was very warm and accommodating. We arrived at the home and was welcomed with a wonderful welcome gift and note from the owners. The house was very clean and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen was very well stocked, and we ate at home all but two meals in 7 days and had all the kitchen tools and utensils we needed. The lake amenities provided by the owners really made the trip for our two families staying there. An amazing tube, kneeboarding, wakeboard, tow ropes, canoe, kayak, life vests, fishing supplies…we only needed to rent a boat from the nearby Mariner’s Landing (literally a few hundred feet across the lake), and we were set for the week! I would highly recommend renting a Tritoon from Mariners Landing, as they were friendly, efficient and the boat was where we spent most of our days and evenings. The lake items provided saved us hundreds by not needing to rent them. Joe continued to check on us throughout the week to make sure we were comfortable, and to see if we needed anything. The location of the home is wonderful, near the back of one of the many coves, and the property is large. The sunsets from the yard are truly amazing! 5 starts for SML, the house and the owners! We had a wonderfully relaxing week at the lake. The sunsets at this property are amazing! The homeowners were also very caring and prompt to respond.

We had a great time and were happy with our stay. The small beach was great for our kids and they loved being able to walk into the water and play. The house is well set up with multiple rooms and beds!

Property is beautiful, shady (perfect for handing hammocks & relaxing), fun dock with swimming ladder & lake toys for play. Lots of little personal touches & perks. Layout of house is a little odd but worked for our group.

We spent our days swimming off the dock, boating, and kayaking. The bedrooms worked out perfectly for our family of 7 adults and 2 kids. Beautiful cove. Also had fun with the innertube and floats that Joe and Kelly provided. Our grandson caught a fish off the dock. The well equipped kitchen made it easy to cook and we enjoyed playing the board games in the house. So much to do. We have rented 4 other houses at this lake and this one was our favorite#

The setting is absolutely beautiful and grounds are great. Jon was a very pleasant host, but the house is in need of some serious maintenance. He seemed surprised about the condition, and if the issues are taken care it will be a nice place again. Pros: * The house is situated in a quiet neighborhood on a less busy inlet of Smith Mountain Lake and the grounds are absolutely stunning. There's a big backyard that slopes down to the docks and a small beach where you can watch the sun set. The beach is very shallow for a while ,so it's great for small kids and weak swimmers. My nephew caught a bunch of crappies just fishing right off the dock. * Stocked with decent water toys like a tube for tubing, a couple floats, and fishing poles. *The host Jon, had excellent communication the entire time. Cons: * The housekeeping looked rushed. Floors swept, but not mopped. Bath tubs grungy. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Stained sheets. Sheets set at foot of bed instead of the bed being made. * The house is in bad need of repairs. There was leek in the wall, the benches on the picnic table were broken, door jambs rotted, screen door busted through and few other minor issues (short-term renters can be tough on your stuff I guess). * There were a couple odd ball design choices like the shower door in the master bath that only opens 25% of the way and has you side stepping into the shower or the weird extra bedroom that opens into the garage downstairs.

With incredible lake views, a beautiful shoreline, four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen, Olde Stoney was a perfect spot for our family reunion. We especially appreciated that Joe gave us a thumbs-up to host a few meals with the other half of our family (staying in a separate house). He responded very quickly via text to any questions and provided valuable information about the local area. Thanks, Joe!

We had an amazing week at SML and Olde Stoney was the perfect home for our families to celebrate July 4th together. Our home was very clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the lake. The kitchen is updated, well stocked with open space for us to make meals and we loved being able to sit together at the big dining table. When we were not on the lake we enjoyed the open space upstairs and downstairs....we loved the pinball machine and had many pinball tournaments thru out the week! The views of the lake are so pretty and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset every night. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the sandy beach or on the dock using the floats and canoe provided by the owners. The owners were very helpful sending us information about places to rent boats, jet skis, paddle boards and answered any questions we had during our stay. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us and we would definitely love to stay at Olde Stoney on our next vacation to SML.

My sister and I had the privilege of taking my 15 year old and a few of her friends to Olde Stoney this past weekend! The home was lovely and the perfect mix of convenience with rustic charm! The kitchen is wonderfully stocked with all the utensils and dishes needed as we cooked a dinner for our hungry girls the first night there! The property is well-kept and tidy. The girls enjoyed swimming off the dock, and we really enjoyed the kayak, canoe and floaties! It was WONDERFUL having those there, as we didn't have room in our car to bring them along. So - thank you for that! We rented a boat across the cove at Mariner's Landing, and the location of Olde Stoney made this very convenient! Another highlight was using the firepit for S'mores! It is in a great spot on the property and the girls enjoyed the comfy chairs as they roasted their marshmallows! Finally - the beds were very comfortable! Mr. Boyle was wonderful to work with, and we really appreciated the packet of information about SML, as well as easy directions for house use and check out! We also really appreciated having waters available upon arrival and the extra touches by the homeowners were above and beyond! We can't wait to go back! Thank you for a wonderful first - time experience at SML!

We were looking for relaxation, and we found it nestled in a peaceful corner of Smith Mountain Lake. Such a great place to get away! We always appreciate the little things and these owners thought of them all. The house: Welcoming and spacious with gorgeous lake and sunset views. The Lake: So Clear! Perfect for kids to jump right off the dock and enjoy! Boat rental was easy and close by too. All wrapped up it made for a wonderful vacation spot! We are already booking our next stay at Olde Stoney.
