Destacar

The house is located within the old section of Chaniá where you can get some sense of what life might have been like in previous eras and still enjoy comfortable amenities of modern living. One can relax or read and have meals in a shaded outdoor space, a rarity for the neighborhood where there are many cafés but few green parks to relax. We were happy that Michalis shared his family place with us.

Feel Like a Local in this Wonderfully Renovated, Rustic Home
This was an amazing property, although the word property seems too sterile a way to refer to this personal and unique vacation home.
First off, the old city of Chania is amazing: the streets wind through picture book lanes and back alleys that all connect to one another. So although it can feel like a maze, you never hit a dead end.
The home itself is rustic, historic, and welcoming. The photos in the listing, although accurate, don't convey the continuity of the space. It was painstakingly restored and thought out in every detail.
My 2 daughters (18 and 14) and I were traveling together. I had the one queen size bed and my daughters took the room with the queen and a loft with another queen. I think the loft also had room for more kids with a connected room.
There was only one bathroom, but we found it met our needs. The bathroom was downstairs from the bedrooms with a winding staircase, but if you hold onto the railing you should be fine. We didn't have an issue with this.
Guylaine is the property manager. She was warm, informative, and available. We appreciated her help.
There are two outdoor dining spaces, which are in lieu of a family room per se. We enjoyed dinners and wine in both of the spaces. It's set up to encourage communal meals and the outdoor areas themselves are sublime.
It's located in a nice area of the town adjacent to a historic church and square, where a lot of locals live and yet it's not at all disconnected from where the tourist areas are.
There are a number of family photos on the walls which tell the story through images a little of the history of the family. I found them interesting and conducive to feel as if you were a part of the narrative.
My favorite aspect of the house were the views from the windows. When we went the flowers on the vines were in full bloom and very inviting.
Overall this was my favorite place in our few weeks in Greece. The combination of the history, the location, and the space itself made it a relaxing piece of Chania, Crete, and Greece in such a way as to make us feel we were truly experiencing each.

Historic Charm
If you love the feel of history and tradition, you will love this home and its location. The home is a refinished corner of an old monastery and the location is a character alleyway next to an impressive church. The house was clean and comfortable and our host gracious and accommodating. I would stay here again :)

Happy stay in Chania Old Town
Loved this place! Simple and querky! In the centre of the old town and stone's throw from port but peaceful too. Friendly bars and tavernas on the door step together with friendly cat who greeted us every morning!! Open plan kitchen/sitting/dining area small but efficient! Bedrooms pretty, spacious and beds comfortable. Shower/toilet room small but fine! Charming historical house in a charming town! Definitely come again. Last bit not least, owner and property manager very friendly, accessible for advice and swiftly sorting out any issues!!

The house, part of an old convent, is charmingly rustic with
stone floors in the kitchen, shuttered windows and blue painted
cupboard doors. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes and
utensils. The 2 bedrooms and loft ,up steep stairs, are light
and the beds comfortable. The only bathroom is down stairs
which is not convenient if you need to use it in the night.
There is an outside drying area for cloths on the roof.
The patio is exposed to the laneway but a pleasant place to sit
and we enjoyed meals there. The kitchen is a little gloomy and
there is no hot water at the sink. Regardless of these few inconveniences we very much liked staying in this house.

Wonderful home, perfect location, marvelous host
My husband and I spent 9 perfect days in this wonderful, historic 2-story (plus loft) house. The house is a remodeled part of an ancient monastery next to the beautiful church of Agios Nicholas. If you are looking for perfect 21st century features (like dishwasher and instant hot water) and you don’t like ringing, nearby church bells, find a different apartment. If you appreciate historic places, like to wash dishes by hand after heating the water in a kettle, love church bells, comfortable mattress, lovely bedding, a sea of bougainvillea when you walk through the entry way, a perfect location in Chania’s historic district, an extremely helpful host, and his wonderful on-site “agent,” Maria, you will be absolutely happy here. We were. We are looking forward already to our next stay! Thank you, Michalis, for all your kindness and helpful information and quick communication.

Great location.
The refurbished convent, or part of a convent, worked great for the two of us for ten days. We even had room for guests, should they have made it to Chania. The parking could be "iffy", even in mid-May (there is not designated parking) but with a little scouting around it worked out every time we needed a spot. The old stone place (with WiFi and working plumbing) has a certain charm that made the question of where we would park each time we were returning with the car worth the slight hassle. The kitchen/common area on the ground floor has pots and pans for everything you could imagine cooking. People have left behind (or Michail has ensured) there are all sorts of odds and ends of oils and pasta and other things left behind, if you want to use them. We weren't sure how old some of the stuff was, though. But we did eat lots of the pistachios that were there on the table when we arrived. And there was even some bottled water in the fridge. The hot water heated up very quickly, for showers and using the bathroom sink. Although, we never figured out how to get hot water in the kitchen sink, so we just heated some up in the kettle when it was time to wash dishes. The clothes washing machine came in handy, as did the clothes line on the second floor patio, for our ten days at the Venetian Convent. Although, on occasion, we could hear a little noise at night from the plaza down the street , overall the place is a quiet little sanctuary a short walk from the life of the old city. And MIhael gave us great tips about things to do and places to go and places to eat.
Oh, and there was a cat, a white cat with black markings, on the ground floor patio by the front door. (Someone had left out some cat food for him (her?) on a piece of cardboard.) We began to consider him (her) the guard cat,. He (she)checked us out, and in, each time we went out or came in. We missed him (her) on the rare occasion he (she) was not by the door, watching us go out or come back with those ever so alert and watchful eyes. Maria, who welcomed us and showed us where things were and the quirks of the place when we arrived, warned us about cats sneaking in when we opened the door, so we were careful about guarding the convent from the guard cat. And yet, we found we missed him (her) each morning when we went out and she wasn't there by, the door.

Schönes Haus in schöner Lage

This is the perfect house for our stay in Chanda. Beautifully restored but still retained touches of the history it holds. It is a nice size for the three of us. We loved the small covered patio. It was perfect for sitting out mornings with coffee and evenings with wine. The best part is the perfect location for exploring Old Town Chania. We were just feet away from the bustling, maze of streets and alleys to explore. However, it was very quiet once we stepped off of the main street. A few minutes from the sites, the harbor, and endless shopping and eating, this was a great base for our stay. Michalis and Maria were very helpful in answering all of our questions during our stay. They also provided a great list of recommendations which we too advantage of. We hired a car and were able to explore the area as we wished. Despite the haphazard parking, we were able to find a spot on our street every day.

Wonderful location
We really loved staying in this old Venetian charmer. It was in a fantastic location, right in the old town, but off the walking paths, so very quiet except when a car went by. There were so many beds to would sleep far more than the three of us. We were met when planned, and were given all the information and items we needed. There was a small plumbing leak, that the owners fixed when we let them know about it. And Chania itself was by far the nicest of the towns we visited (Heraklion, Rethymnon, Kissamous and smaller coastal towns) to base ourselves in for central or western Crete.

The house is so beautiful and unique in its layout. It makes one feel going back in history for centuries. The house has everything one needs, ranging from linen to cookware. It has a charming attic. My wife and I wished we had brought friends along since the house easily sleeps three couples. Everything is very accessible. In less than 5 minutes walking we were at the seaside where we enjoyed walks and sampled great restaurants. In spite of that the house surroundings are very quiet. Now I have to mention how wonderful our hosts were. Michalis, the owner, responded promptly to every email with a wealth of information. Maria who maintains the house was equally helpful and very hospitable. There is no doubt in our minds that would would like to stay at the same property when we visit Crete again , hopefully very soon!!!!

Nicely maintained home was perfect size for the three of us and in a very central location in Chania. Finding a parking spot on Saturday night however was no easy feat - though no issues the rest of the time. Walking distance to the harbour and many restaurants. We didn't want to leave. Great communication and instructions from the owner - thank you.

Tolle Adresse in Chania!
