Overall we had an enjoyable 6 night stay in this home. I’m listing the pros and cons which I hope is helpful to others in deciding on if this is the rental for them. There are some simple fixes that could make this house go from good to great.
✅ Pros
Easy, responsive communication with Sequim rental company.
Views are wonderful.
Location is good for accessing Olympic Nat. Park.
The Kayak shed/dock was a big perk.
Exceptional hot water for shower.
‼️ CONS
There is a lot of junk piled up outside the house which is off-putting upon arrival.
The firewood wall is a disaster waiting to happen.
The grill is old, tiny and dirty. Seems a shame to not have a decent grill on such a nice deck.
There is no functional storage for longer stays. No hangers are provided in the upstairs closet space and all the dressers are full of the owners belongings so there is nowhere to put your clothes. The dressers smell awful inside so even if emptied they would make your clothes smell like a thrift shop.
Couch is old, scratchy and a waste of living room space. An L-shaped sectional would be so much more open, inviting and functional. The wall and shelving decor overall was random, outdated, in-cohesive and over-crowded. Not a very cozy feel.
There are no chairs to sit in on the dock and the lights outside the dock also did not work.
The lanterns up and down the climb to the driveway and/or doc could be much brighter to ensure good footing.

Overall the property was ok. On the lake, new dock. The linen could've been lighter for summer and smell fresh. It would've been nice to use the A/C. The chairs on the deck were old and weathered. (Canvas split on one chair) Bbq (Grill) was nasty. Not clean and in poor condition. Pots and pans were rough. I ended up getting one for me to use. I'd have them invest in a property manager.

This was a very calm beautiful place. Hikers Haven is a very apt name for this place. You have to hike down to the house and the lake. You definitely get in a workout! The views are stunning! Our family enjoyed relaxing and reconnecting in this nice home!

The property has a beautiful view. Looked a little in disrepair. The steps to the cottage we’re long and steep and the stairs especially to the lake were very difficult.

Great location for a few days exploring Olympic NP. We enjoyed coming back after hiking and having dinner on the beautiful patio that overlooks the lake.

Very enjoyable visit. Comfortable and clean. Great location and view. Definitely would recommend to others. Only suggestion would be to fix the dangerous railings and then some of the caution signs could be removed. Not ideal for young children.

We really enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed the platform by the water, great for a refreshing swim. Enjoyed the kayaks there ("at-your-own-risk"). Enjoyed the AC in the hot days. Enjoyed watching all the boats, jet-skis and others going about the lake having their fun. Enjoyed watching some stars at night.
The house is quirky. Like the drawer that doesn't fully open because of the towel holder that was added, or the random electronic gadgets lying around that we had no clue what they were for. The sofa-bed with the DIY privacy curtain. The tiny toilet and humongous kitchen sink. The toaster oven that was just enough for our needs. The internet which was slow (not a WiFi issue) and often timing out connections, so you have to retry a couple of times. I managed to do some work during the off-hours, but it took some patience.
The water features were a bit misrepresented in the photos: the kayaks were in the boathouse, with no instructions on how to properly get them out. The pedal boat was stuck on the side of the boathouse and impossible to get out. The platform was in a worse state of disrepair, with parts of it a bit scary to walk on. I really hope they'll do something about all this, as it's all a great perk to have.
The stairs up and down from the house were definitely nothing to take lightly. They felt like hiking indeed. But our 7- and 9-year-old boys had no trouble there.
The bedroom upstairs gets none of the AC cooling, and its windows had no bug screens, so the only way to get some reprieve from the heat was a couple of fans.
So not everything perfect. But there were clear signs of recent improvements and fixes, so I hope they continue the work to refresh and fix or redo all the things that need it. Please, take all of the above as one snapshot in time.
Overall, we really did enjoy it a lot and really hope to go back to this cabin someday. It was absolutely worth it!

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon. Read reviews about the steps, and all I have to say is: this cabin is called "Hikers Haven" and the steps set the expectation. I do not recommend navigating the steps severely intoxicated or if you have weak ankles, but in all other instances- they are fine. We arrived right at the start of a painfully gross heat wave and despite all expectations to the contrary, this little cabin was a refuge from the heat. We went down to the water, laid on the dock, and jumped in the lake. The water was warm but incredibly refreshing. There were fun little noodles and lounge chairs (straight up 80's style)-we had a blast in the water. I don't remember if anyone else talked about the kitchen, but it was great. There was only a toaster oven, which we used, and a *tiny* two-man ,one-cup coffee pot. Everything else that you could possibly want or need was provided in the kitchen, so meals were pretty easy. In my view, this was a five star spot to stay. It reminded me of camp when I was a kid-has all of the essentials, is comfortable, beautiful, and scenic beyond belief. Everything was clean and orderly (damn near immaculate) when we arrived, but there was a slight aged odor and a faint smell of cigarette smoke in the loft. We did use Netflix to watch Tv at night, but the internet is not great in that area and there was a lot of lag. If there is any idea of having a "working vacation" this is not a viable place for that.
Waking up every morning to the sight of tree branches above, a lake of glass, a local eagle, and multitudes of butterflies flitting (dancing?) above the deck, the stairs, the shed and the dock created a feeling of pure tranquility. We haven't been that happy or relaxed in a long, long time. Five stars. Absolute bliss. Completely serene.

Amazing place for our family. Gorgeous views, private, and cozy. Everything was wonderful about our stay.
I would not recommend for families with small children. Our 9 year old was fine with the steep stairs, but I would be very nervous for anyone under 5.
Great spot near lots of Olympic National Parks attractions. My one tip would be to stop in Port Angeles for groceries on the way in. You won't want to leave the view once you arrive!

Gorgeous view
We loved this cute little cabin! Great for a couple or small family. It’s a bit of a hike down the stairs to the dock but we didn’t mind, loved using the kayaks and fishing off the dock! I would recommend older children due to proximity to water/steep incline. Property manager was very responsive and helpful!

Nice lakeside house with great views. Comfortable and warm and as described. Would definitely stay at again. Something to consider is that the wifi is a bit slow. Wasn't an issue for us but good to keep in mind should that be a requirement.

We really had a good time, the heavy rains and river flooding/high tides didn’t stop us from having fun. I really enjoy winter fishing all the rivers in forks (less then 1 hour from the cabin) with the rivers blown out we did a beach fire/pic nic on 3rd beach, used the cabin kayaks on Sutherland, and played a lot of card games with a great view of the lake!

The house was better than I expected. It was very clean. The view of the lake was excellent. And, we used the provided kayaks a number of times. The only downsides were the stairs. They were a difficult to navigate after a long day of hiking. And, the kitchen could use a few more cooking utensils and a larger non-stick pan. We wanted to make pancakes and couldn't find a large enough pan or spatula.

The setting above the beautiful emerald green lake Sutherland is an A+. The cabin is clean and adequate. Access to the cabin and particularly to the boathouse is an F- The very steep paths to both are horribly out of repair and the bushes around them are extremely overgrown...very dangerous. The last straw was having no access to water from any of the faucets. Obviously we did not complete our booking and had to find alternative accommodations. The property mangers were very helpful. Property mangers deserve an A.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. It had everything we needed for a long weekend of enjoying the outdoors. We also took advantage of the kayaks provided by the property and swam near the dock, though it was chilly even in June. We would definitely stay there again.

I rented Hikers Haven on short notice, the night before my trip. My reservation was accepted and my credit card was charged for my entire stay within an hour of booking. Early the following morning before my flight to Washington I emailed Simone from Sequim Valley Properties with my questions, most importantly for me, what type of coffee maker is at the property. After my flight I checked my emails and nothing from Simone. So I drove up to Port Angeles, and stopped at the market to purchase my supplies. I checked my emails and nothing from Simone, it was 6:00 pm at this point so I called Sequim properties. The women that answered said Simone was off for the day. She found my reservation and emailed me the directions and code to enter the home. After shopping I drove another 15 miles to the property. I had to call back to Sequim Properties to find out where to park. Once inside I found a note stating that water should be used to bath only, and if I wanted to drink it I had to boil it. Also, no ice in the freezer. Now this is not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have known this before I arrived. I had to drive back to town, another 30 miles roundtrip to purchase water and ice. Once back at the property I looked for some sort of instruction book as to wifi code, if I could use the canoes on the dock, etc. All the little things that one should know about a property. There was absolutely nothing. The next morning as I left the property I could not get the door to lock, there were no instructions on how to operate the key pad. I called Sequim properties and got a voicemail. I left a message, and also texted the emergency #. I also called the emergency # but the voicemail box was full. I sent an email to Sequim property asking to be contacted as soon as possible. Nothing for 3 hours. I left the property without locking the door. I again emailed Sequim Properties and told them that since they would not communicate with me I would be checking out a day early and wanted a refund. At 8:00pm that night I still had not received an email or phone call, so I called Sequim Property one more time. I did reach a person who said they had received my email and phone message and that they had been too busy to get back to me. I wasted over $700.00 for two days and nights of frustration and wasted time trying to contact Sequim Property management. I would not recommend anyone renting this property as long as it is being managed by this company.

Magical
Amazing rental with amazing view perfect for 2-4 people. We loved waking up to the view each day, use of the kayaks, use of the grill, the comfy mattress in the suite upstairs, and the really well appointed kitchen. It should be noted that we were given an exception to bring our 9 month old child, but we understand why this is not a child friendly rental. It went excellent, but there are a lot of fall hazards. Also, note that you will need to bring your own drinking water as there is clear signage that water from the tap is for cleaning only, and should not be consumed. We just bought some jugs of water. Would definitely stay here again.

Such a beautiful location, it almost doesn’t look real. Perfect location to Olympic National Park! It is definitely meant for hikers. I don’t think everyone would be able to get up and down the path to the cabin and then to the lake. Definitely not for anyone with small children. The property management staff was great also! I will be back.
