We enjoyed our stay in this cozy home. The location was quiet and peaceful but close enough to town if we needed to run out. For those with lot of ski gear, there isn't a large mudroom or ski closet, but there is a regular coat closet just inside the door. Furniture and kitchen utensils weren't the latest and greatest, but everything we needed was there. We are thinking about returning in the summer to enjoy the lake!

The house is lovely and clean. The screened porch overlooking the lake is a wonderful place to read and enjoy the quiet of the woods. You can walk out your front door and enjoy the stroll down to the Echo Lake meadow and historic site. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet.

Great location with amazing views. Clean and comfortable house

We stayed here for a couple of days in the fall. The house was comfortable and clean but not well-stocked with necessities such as paper towels, bath soap and dishwasher detergent. (We had to make a late-evening run to the nearest grocery store for supplies.) We lost power several times during our stay, which was not a big problem except that the neighbor's generator is very loud. The lake location and the small private dock are lovely. There are not a lot of attractions in the immediate area but this is a nice setting for a more remote experience.

The house was very clean and cute right on the lake. The location was great for visiting surrounding area. The housekeeper forgot to leave bath towels and we could not reach owner right away. She dropped off towels first thing in the morning. Also all the smoke detectors we disconnected from the ceiling lying open on furniture in each room. It’s a wooden house in the woods. Inquire that they have installed the smoke alarms. If so then we recommend staying here.

After a 3 hour drive, and finding the main road was washed out, we found a second way to the cottage. Thank god I knew my way around. Upon entering the cottage we found all the smoke detectors had been removed, dishes not cleaned, used bath towels left on floor of baths, beds not stripped and remade, burnt food on stove. The list only gets longer
Upon contacting owner she told us cleaning person had been in an accident and was sorry about the cottage condition,as an owner
Of a rental property she should have known all of this before we even left home!
With that we got in the car and drove another 3 hours home. There were other conditions with the rental but rather just forget this experience, total waste of our only weeks vacation.
I had tracked this cottage for 2 weeks before we arrived and it appeared not to have been rented before us, so if I am correct no one had bothered with this rental for quite sometime. Yes there was a major flood event in that area so I would have thought somebody would have inspected the area and cottage to see if it was rentable, and maybe tell us to rethink our stay for another time, which would be a far more honest approach to future renters.
There is so much more, but at this point Okemo vally is now off of our rental radar. I personally have been a renter in the Ludlow lakes region for over 45 years and saddened by this horendous experiance.
Won’t go back

Home is exactly as pictured. Recommend for anyone that is looking for a quiet get away but near enough to great food and shopping. If you play pickleball there is a court in the center of Plymouth. Mara responds quickly to all inquiries.

We had a great stay at Mara’s cottage. The house itself is clean, comfortable and perfectly located. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking off the doc as well as walking to the state park down the street. The house was stocked with everything we needed to prepare our own meals and we enjoyed eating on the screened-in back porch. We came in July and though the weather was unseasonably hot, humid and rainy, the forest location and whole house fan made nights perfectly comfortable for sleeping. We would definitely come again. Thanks!

The cottage is very charming and close to the ski resorts (which is what we went for) near a grocery store and some restaurants. The screened in porch overlooking the lake would be awesome in the summer. There is no fireplace as it says in amenities- but there was an outdoor firepit. Check in was easy and we had no problems. The stairs maybe tricky for an older person. Kitchen had what we needed. Perfect size house for a small family.

We stayed at this property to go skiing at Okemo over winter break. The house was adorable and just as pictured. Beautiful location overlooking lake and 10 minutes from the mountain. My family had a wonderful time!

This was a perfect cottage for us this year. Easy to get to Ludlow and the mountain, quiet, warm and clean.

The house needs a good cleaning, the area rug in entry way has many stains on it, maybe pet urine! The stove/oven needs to be cleaned and the lampshades and paddle fan are covered in dust. The sofas in living room need to be thrown out, they have seen better days! We have stayed in many Vrbo rentals and we feel that this house doesn’t reflect the normal cleanliness that we normally experience. It’s a cute house with lots of potential.

We loved our stay at the house on the lake. Kids had a great time. Highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to get away, chill, hike, read, swim, kayak, walk the dogs. Only thing I would change was the construction crew next door @ 7am daily. Yikes... at least they could have offered coffee first :-)

Enjoyed the lake and screened porch. The cleanliness of the place was not good.

This house was perfect for a quiet summer getaway! We absolutely loved having use of the kayaks. The lake was so peaceful and serene. We usually had the entire lake to ourselves, which was great for having beginner kayakers with us. It was also great to have access to the tube, floats, and other items in the shed! We also loved the screened in porch and spent lots of time there. The rocking chairs and lights were a nice touch. Having camp fires in the fire pit was terrific too! We barely wanted to leave the property because it was so enjoyable. This house was the perfect size for our family of four and our dog too! Everyone had enough space.
While we loved the house and location, the only thing we felt in need of improvement was the housekeeping. There was an issue we did have to reach out about when we arrived, but the owner did make it right. We also had to purchase more paper towels, toilet paper, and handsoap only a couple days into the trip. Not a big deal, but having some extras in the house would have been appreciated. We also couldn’t locate any cleaning supplies. Aside from this, we really enjoyed this beautiful lake- front home!

We had a great time staying in this house. The lake is beautiful, and the water is very clear. The house is close to town yet on a quiet road so you can relax and listen to the loons. The house was very clean, and the beds are comfy.
We will stay here again.

The location of Mara's cottage was perfect for access to Camp Plymouth State Park and an easy drive to Ludlow/Okemo, Woodstock/Quechee and Rutland, not to mention mention our own small beach where our 1 and 3 year olds played for hours. The screened porch was the best spot for relaxing after a long day and listening to an owl and loons in the distance. We would definitely return for a future visit.

This was the perfect home and location for some much needed downtime. At first we were looking for the tv downstairs but with the screened in porch and rocking chairs we quickly forgot about it. The beds were on the shorter side for a taller person, yet they were comfy. This is right on the water for swimming and kayaking, with some trails and bigger beach right down the road. Much to do within a short 10 mins drive to Ludlow or venture further into other towns like Woodstock for a quaint visit, and of course cheeses!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is located about 10 minutes from Okemo and about 20 minutes from Killington. Woodstock and Quechee are about 30-35 minutes away. Even in winter, the view of Amherst Lake from the living room and especially the screened-in deck is amazing - it must be spectacular in summer and fall. The cottage is very well maintained and equipped - everything you need if you want to cook or just hang out with a cocktail. The beds were very comfortable, and the wifi worked great for streaming. We would definitely book here again!

We stayed for a week while skiing at Okemo. While a bit of distance, the home was well equipped. One suggestion: bring a flashlight as it is a very rural road and quite dark at night in case of a loss of power (we had several power surges one night due to a storm) and buy ice as there were no ice cube trays available for use and the closest store is back in Ludlow.

We were very pleased with the property. We hope to visit it again. The only issue was that the cleaning person had not shown up prior to our arrival and we weren't sure how to get in touch with someone. I found the owner's email address and she was very quick to respond and the cleaner showed up soon afterwards. I then saw that the owner had provided a phone number as well. I've already recommended it to a friend!
