Made last minute reservations on Friday, planning on visiting friends in area the next Friday. Friends had death in family Sunday. Contacted host Monday, asking for refund/explained why. Per his stated policy, no refunds given within 7 days of arrival. Asked for partial refund as only "held" his house off market for 72 hours. No negotiation/no compromise to be had. After initial few clarifying emails, no response. No one used this house, we never set foot on property (had to rate every area per VRBO policy so unsure what the house actually looked like, never got a code to check in, etc) So, he made $300 from our misfortune, seems cruel and heartless given the circumstances

The worse experience I've had with these types of services. To start, its advertised as 6 rooms and a jacuzzi, but the master bedroom with the jacuzzi was locked. Their was a dog locked in a soiled cage in the pool house for the first 28 hours we were there. It obviously barked non stop and we had to let her out and give her water. The fridge was full and there was no room to put any of our food. The kitchen sink didn't work. The downstairs had a stench of dirty laundry and dirty wet dog. A lady stopped in unannounced late into the second night saying she was the owner though its listed in a males name. It was extremely awkward. We talked to her about our concerns and she said that "her partner would contact us and refund us some money for the room and jacuzzi being inaccessible", but that never happened. They would not answer our phone calls. There was a gun just sitting on a banister. Honestly I wish I could have gotten a full refund and gotten a hotel near by. Vrbo told us they couldn't refund us anything and would only pay for 4 hotel rooms when we called them which isn't 2300 dollars worth of hotels, so we decided to just stay because four hotel rooms would not have accommodated us. I've never been this dissatisfied with any service. I may never use vrbo again and I will defintely suggest that no one ever rent this place out. Dont waste your money, I know we did.
