Construction

Despite the road construction that seems ever-ongoing, there were no interruptions to finding the hotel, parking or to our sleep. The breakfast was healthy, quick and delicious. We were within walking distance to all of the places downtown that we had planned to visit.

Everything was great! When the road construction is finally over, it will be even better!

breakfast was amazing! the staff is all super welcoming and nice and very flexible. our stay was quick but well worth it. I will return in the future.

really nice people! very helpful! I asked them to print me my paper from my email, no problem! very nice breakfast. Zoe at the restaurant was so nice! Try their salmon dinner! Tasty! Bread is so delicious!

The atmosphere was clean & the walk-in shower was beautiful & exceptional. They had a little bag that they handed out at check-in that contained lotion, make-up remover, soap, & an Idaho potato candy. It was cute! The complimentary breakfast was exceptional. It met all kinds of needs, from vegan to gluten-free, & the vegetarian frittata that I had with local, homemade banana bread was delicious! It was reheated in the microwave, but, it was still very, very good!

Update: The manager called me after I wrote a review and shared that the check-in person communicated something in error: rooms are pet-friendly and pets CAN be on the beds! She then shared that I'd be receiving a full refund! I was really surprised and it shows how attentive Modern Hotel is to attuning to their guests. I really appreciate her response & am updating my review! The check-in person was chilly at best. She gave us basic instructions, especially about where to eat or happy hour, but when I came back & asked about basics, like where to park, where to access our room, or whether they had a cart to load all our luggage from our car, she seemed put out rather than helpful. I'd been at a very friendly hotel before this & the contrast was striking! The room was tiny. The bed was tiny. It was low to the ground & the mattress was uncomfortable. They had an indie film thing going on, & while I could appreciate it this intellectually, I just wanted to watch regular tv, which didn't seem to be available. Lastly, & most importantly, Modern Hotel says it's pet-friendly, but, it's not. I had to sign forms that said that my dog couldn't be on ANY of their furniture, that I'd pay $250 if there was damage, &, (of course), that I wouldn't leave my dog alone in the room. There was no where to eat inside the tiny room but I couldn't leave my dog alone. And, worse than that, my dog, who's blind & a senior, & used to sleeping in our bed, after traveling 6 hours & moving out of our house that day, had to sleep on the floor.

My dogs and I love to stay at the Modern- very pet friendly. Great cocktails- great location
