My cordial host welcomed me to the modest and clean hilltop appartment overlooking Levanto, a remote location of peace and reflection in natural surroundings. The windows were open the entire time and I felt I was in a tree house surrounded by flowering plants, swallows and butterflies.I was comfortable and secure and the host's availability for my questions was appreciated. Her daughter spoke English well and we three enjoyed a pleasant rapport.I relished a nine day stay and was saddened to leave.Be prepared for a twisting road and driveway to reach the apartment....which I felt made the location even more ideal.

Parking the car was an experience extremely narrow and steep driveway

Yes it was very fine!

This must be our 7 or 8th visit to Levanto and to Michelas apartments. Michela is a lovely host and always a pleasure to meet. They are a little way into the mountains. An easy and enjoyable 1.5 kilometers to the town. The walk back is more demanding but we did it and we are over 60. Stunning views which make the walk worthwhile. There are a number of local buses which will drop you outside the apartments. Levanto offers a great place for a range of things to do. Hire bikes and cycle to the next town Bonnasola through old railway tunnels. Catch the boat along the Cinque Terre. Swimming at a variety of beaches, walking through the countryside or sitting in your favourite beach bar watching the sunset. Lots of good eating places and all very reasonable. The town isnt just a tourist resort. It is a real lively place with bands playing in the street and locals getting on with their lives.
