Ohtels Gran Hotel Almeria

The location for accessibility to the town is amazing. Lots of amazing restaurants, shops, and sightseeing. The little sightseeing train nearby was a lot of fun. The hotel is beautiful and very modern feeling. Rooms are nice and the balcony was great. Rooms on the east side are nice for warmer months as the sun doesn’t shine in them directly. Nespresso machine in the room and pods provided. Breakfast was nice with fresh cooked items available and plenty of other choices.

The pillows on the bed are flat and not very supportive. Would be better if gave you two per person. Shower is only partially enclosed so water gets all over the floor each time you shower. It overlooks the port not the beach. Beach access is a 15 minute walk away. If you are in town for the beach not the best place to stay. They don’t provide beach towels either. Not a bad thing but something to be aware of based on your trip.

Great room, very comfortable bed and a great view. The reception staff were extra friendly and helpful.

La piscine L’amabilité du personnel L’ambiance Le confort Le calme

La description Booking de la chambre que j’avais réservée indiquait « balcon et vue Alcazar » or la chambre qui m’a été proposée à mon arrivée avait un balcon, mais avec un vis à vis d’immeuble à 2 mètres… donc sans vue. Après discussion avec la réception, sur fourniture du descriptif réservé, ils m’ont donné une chambre avec vue, mais sans balcon. Ils ont dit que c’était la description de Booking qui n’était pas bonne, que la catégorie de chambre que j’avais réservée correspondait à celle qu’ils me donnaient, les autres (balcon ET vue Alcazar) étaient plus chères.

The breakfast was great. The sea views were great (but see my comment below about the heat of the room). Proximity to the port, old quarter, shopping area and beach were all good factors. A bus from the airport, no. 30, leaves you within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It only costs €1.05 for a one way trip.

The air conditioning in the room was not operating as, according to the hotel, it is centrally controlled and in a month like February is not due to operate. Rather, warm air is genetated. The ceiling fan was not working. I reported this in order for it to be fixed, but it was not repaired before my departure. I had a room with a sea view, but the sun hit the windows so strongly in the mornings that the room became unbearably hot. Without air conditioning or a working ceiling fan, it felt like being in a room in July or August. I shall never make that mistake again
