Bonjour et bienvenue à notre maison au CostaRica.
Je m'appelle Catherine, je suis française, de Paris, et mon mari est du Canada. Nous habitohs en Californie, mais nous adorons le Costa Rica et ésperons que vous resterez chez nous là bas.
Casa Tucana est idéale pour les familles. C'est une maison TRANQUILLE, COLORÉE et SPACIEUSE se trouve sur un large terrain dans une communauté privée. Il est proche du village de surf / pêche d'Esterillos Oeste, et à seulement 750 mètres de la plage et à quelques minutes en voiture de toutes les aventures et attractions touristiques de Jaco (25 km au nord) et Manuel Antonio (45 km au sud).
Casa TUCANA dispose d'une GRANDE PIÈCE PRINCIPALE et suit un PLAN SPACIEUX et OUVERT et des plafonds cathédrale de plus de 10m de hauteur, un PATIO COUVERT avec BBQ & table de PING PONG en Tèk (idéal pour dîner aussi!).
Cette maison dispose également d'un jardin tropical luxuriant avec beaucoup de singes et de paresseux et offre une VIE PRIVÉE COMPLÈTE. Rafraîchissez-vous dans la grande PISCINE ou bronzez sur la terrace, ou tout simplement détendez-vous à l'ombre du lit sous Palapa. Vous apprécierez également de faire du yoga sur la terrasse au toit ou de vous détendre dans un HAMMOCK sous sa Palapa.
L'intérieur est décoré avec goût dans des meubles colorés faits par un ébéniste français!!.
DÉTENTE et AMUSEMENT: A côté de la GRANDE PISCINE (5m'x 13m 'x 1.5m') le solarium est ideal pour observer les singes et les paresseux. Détendez-vous dans des chaises longues ou dans le lit sous Palapa - un endroit idéal pour lire à l'ombre!
TERRASSE SUR LE TOIT avec PALAPA, HAMMOCKS est parfaite pour le yoga et la lecture.
PING PONG - La table de ping-pong en teck (sert également de table à dinner extérieure et peut accueillir 16 personnes!)) Est un grand succès auprès des enfants de tous les âges!

La maison a des VENTILATEURS DE PLAFOND dans toutes les pièces et reste naturellement fraîche avec ses PLAFONDS CATHÉDRAUX de plus d e10 m. de hauteur ainsi que la grande tour centrale. Les sols en ciment apportent également de la fraîcheur.

Our family of 5 adults spent Christmas in Costa Rica. The house was perfect for our trip. The house is very comfortable and and had all of the things we needed for our stay. The pool and outdoor areas were great. The jungle is in your back yard and the monkeys came through each morning and evening. The location is excellent for seeing the area and the local beach and water were excellent. The managers Chloe and Dan were terrific and Dan is an excellent surfing instructor if you want to give that a go. The area is very secure and we felt very safe. This is a terrific choice if you want a place to yourself with lots of room.

My family of 4 stayed at Casa Tucana for 3 weeks. It is a great house with plenty of room. Everything we needed was provided. The kitchen is well equipped and the outdoor space is amazing. I would definitely stay here again.

This review comes a bit after the fact, but suffice to say: This place was incredible! The saltwater pool and ping pong table created the perfect mix of becoming tropically overheated and delightfully refreshed! The house itself is great and spacious, we were there with 9 people and it never felt crowded.
Also, it is surrounded on most sides by jungle-y gardens, so there are mornings were you have monkeys right next to you, and afternoons were lazy cows clang their cowbells on the other side of a hill
The property was clean and the laundry was great.
The only snags we encountered were a pretty serious roof leak (onto one of the beds) over the first two nights. However Chloe and her husband were able to fix it, and were very helpful. They even helped those who were crazy enough try surfing.
Location wise, the house is great, it is about a ten minute walk from a very nice beach, as part of a sort of spread out town; there is a restaurant near the beach that we did not find out about until near our last night (it is owned by a Canadian, Chloe will be able to tell you the name) - it was awesome.
Getting groceries was a bit of a hassle, as we only had a shuttle service; the cost of that was a bit extreme for days where we did not have substantial ambitions, and there was some confusion regarding the extra cost of airport transfers which left a sour taste in a few of my companions' mouths on the last day; I would simply say make sure to figure all of that stuff out ahead of time!
This place is surrounded by great beaches and parks, the owners are teriffic, the house is a lot of fun, and airy and peaceful, and it was definitely better than we could have imagined. As a result, the same group of people are seemingly forever committed to taking holidays together to beautiful houses in warm places every winter from now on!

Casa Tucana is a gem of a house with an amazing backyard view. We stayed there for 9 nights and enjoyed most all of it. At night we enjoyed the nightly songs of the Tink Frogs and all the other insects that come out and sang for us. We also enjoyed the great number of butterflies in the backyard, as well as a family of monkeys that traversed thru the trees on our last day. The pool was truly a must after a long day out and about. The house is also close to a cozy little surfing village and far from the tourist billboards you get from planting yourself in Quepos or Jaco.
There are however a few points to consider before booking your stay at Casa Tucana. What I was initially attracted to was the centralized location between Quepos and Jaco. The owners described the location on HomeAway.com as 15 minutes from Jaco and 15 to 20 minutes from Quopos. The reality is that it's 15 to 20 minutes from Jaco and 45 to 50 minutes from Quepos.
The house was also to be cleaned mid-week. About mid-week, the owner showed up at 5:00pm to do some cleaning. This was a terrible time to clean as we just returned home from a long day and were all settling in, unpacking, and getting ready for dinner. He told us he was headed south to go surfing the next morning. We asked to have someone return the next day and got the ‘nod’ that someone would return. No one came to clean.
Another surprise was the toilets do not flush toilet paper. You must instead manage a small bucket of trash next to the bowl. After a few days of stinky bathrooms you get the hang of it. I can’t say that this isn’t common in most rental homes but if you’re considering other homes, it’s a good question to ask.
Due to the location, you’re definitely going to want a car. And if you’ve been able to manage finding this house, navigating to its location, and thinking through what you want to do, you certainly can book your own excursions. The owners will gladly book your excursions for you but in doing so, you’ll pay more. There are many options for all the zip lines, nature walks with or without guides, water falls tours, fishing, surfing lessons, etc. And working directly with the provider, you can negotiate the best price. This also holds true for stocking the house with food prior to your arrival. The first night you can simply dine out and pick up a few items for the morning within a 2 minute drive toward the beach.
All in all, I’d give our stay at this home 3 stars.
