Villa Contarini B&B

Staying at Villa Contarini was an absolute highlight of my trip to Venice. The location on Lido offers a peaceful, authentic retreat after a day of exploring the city, with easy access to the Vaporetto. A special thanks to the host, Sven Dewewer. As an art historian, his deep knowledge and passion for the Biennale provided incredible insights that made my cultural experience in Venice so much richer. His local recommendations and inspiring conversations were truly invaluable. I couldn't have asked for a better host or a more welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and enriched stay in Venice!

This house is just 2 bus stops from the centre and easy to find. It's very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and included some home grown tomatoes and grapes. It was served in the garden with a very impressive vine canopy. There is a really nice restaurant just around the corner at the bus stop.

I looked to change my booking the day after I booked as flights were not available but there was no flexibility...... I know the system said no change once booked but it was a month ahead.

Sven et Michela sont des hôtes vraiment chaleureux, disponibles et attentionnés. Leur accueil a largement contribué à rendre mon séjour très agréable. J’ai eu la chance de visiter Venise avec Sven. Passionné d’histoire, il m’a fait découvrir la ville sous un autre regard grâce à ses nombreuses connaissances et anecdotes. Un excellent moment ! La Villa Contarini est également un endroit très agréable où séjourner. J’ai particulièrement apprécié le petit déjeuner, avec des produits frais et de qualité. Une très belle expérience du début à la fin. Je recommande cette adresse et j’y retournerai avec grand plaisir !

Excellent location close to ferry, bus, town and beach. Air con very efficient.

The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was a thin memory foam type. I didn't sleep well. The WiFi didn't work - I could have mentioned this to the owner but didn't. Here's why... I found the owner to be quite intrusive. The first morning I didn't go down to breakfast. He knocked on the door to ask if I was OK. I made an effort the next morning & found him waiting at the bottom of the stairs for me. He proceeded to hover around whilst I made my selection & as I started to eat. I felt like he was worried I was going to steal the silver!. Then he started to talk, asking questions. Some people like a chat. I do not. I want to eat my meal without small talk. Don't misunderstand, he is a lovely man with an interesting story, I just wanted to eat my breakfast. Next day I didn't go to breakfast. Again, the knock on the door. The fourth morning, no knock. But as I checked out he mentioned it then. I'm sure it's a cultural thing & I'm just an anti-social person, but I don't want to be hassled by the owner like a naughty girl missing breakfast. It made the whole stay uncomfortable. I wouldn't go back.
