I had an excellent experience staying at Hotel Kyoto Shijomuromachi. Of the hotels I stayed at during my Japan trip, this was one of the more enjoyable experiences. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations with rooms that are fairly standard in size for a Japanese business hotel. I stayed in a single room equipped with a private bathroom and individually controlled air conditioning, which made for a comfortable stay. The hotel also provides several convenient amenities, including coin-operated laundry facilities, a complimentary ice machine, and drink vending machines. These are particularly useful for travellers staying multiple nights. What really stood out to me was the hospitality of the staff, especially the Japanese housekeeping team. I would like to give a special shout-out to the cleaning staff for being exceptionally courteous, considerate, and professional. I noticed how mindful they were of other hotel guests while carrying out their cleaning duties, making a genuine effort to minimize noise and disruptions. It’s a small detail, but one that I truly appreciated and that reflects their dedication to providing a pleasant experience for everyone. One thing worth noting is that the hotel’s main entrance is locked later in the evening for security purposes. Be sure to carry your room key with you, as you’ll need it to access the building when returning late. Lastly, they do accept luggage forward and do offer luggage forward service. However, you will have to scan the QR code and fill out the application yourself and then the front desk will print out the shipping label and ship it out for you. Please be mindful that if you are using the forwarding service, the cut-off time is in the afternoon and some locations take 2 business days to deliver. Overall, I had a wonderful stay. The friendly and thoughtful staff, comfortable accommodations, and practical amenities made this a very positive experience.

It’s really near to the train station and fairly quiet.

- The pillow is super hard. - The aircon works for a while and automatically turns off for a while. This repeated throughout the night and affected my sleep.
