Hotel Lion D'Or

Hotel Lion D"Or is really a gem. Comfortable, pretty, clean, the friendliest staff. And the location! 3 minutes to walk to the train station and bus to Schiphol Airport. 10 minutes and you are at the lovely square with the beautiful St Bavo Church.

Everything is perfect.

Clean quiet room, good air conditioning, great breakfast, great staff. Location is about a 3 minute walk from the front of the train station.

Price was a little high, but considering the quality and location, it was to be expected.

The hotel is in front of the station, and given the great value for money, I think it's worth considering to commute from this hotel to Amsterdam. (Haarlem is also an attractive town to visit though!) The room is large and nicely furnished, far better than comparable hotels in Amsterdam or Leiden. Their breakfast was great with a wide choice of salad, ham/salmon, cheese, fruit, and pastries. Shower and wifi worked ptryyy well. The bed was comfortable. The checkout time at 12:00 was generous as well. The staff greet you with a smile, and were always friendly. I was very comfortable and happy throughout my stay.

Minor issues. From 9AM some cleaning people knocked on my door a couple of times for cleaning. I slept for a long time so it was a little awkward. It’s an old building so there are many stairs within one floor. The room was large but layout-wise I didnt have much space to open my large suitcase. They didnt bother me a lot though, and I was satisfied overall.

I got in late in the evening, and was coming from the airport directly to Haarlem. I really appreciated how the hotel gave very good directions and advice on how to get there from the airport - and it all worked out! The hotel is also really well located right next to the Haarlem train station. I like the funky vibe, and also appreciated the bar. I literally got in and had to get straight on a call but the staff made that really easy for me. They got chicken wings ready in record time!
