Suite 14 on the top floor was amazing. Very quirky, comfortable and with some very low ceilings that you'd expect in such an old building. We loved the experience.

The room was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is a wonderful place to stay as it is a historic building in the centre of York next to the Minster. Our suite was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable.
I would be giving perfect scores except for the fact that there was significant construction going on just outside the hotel. This spoilt the landmark view of the Minster that was a selling point of the room and the builders were noisy from 8 am. I think we should have been warned about the building works at the time of booking.

The hotel has a lot of history and character in an excellent location. It is an older building built in the 1500 and has many quirky parts like the stairs and decor which were fun to experience. As you walk into the hotel, there is a cozy bar and restaurant.
Would have liked shampoo dispenser in addition to the soap dispenser in the shower.

Staff were friendly and , lovely outdoor area .
Fish pie was bland, very little flavour, the mattress was hard.
Room was freezing and different room to what was pictured on booking.com and we paid for a nice view but their was work being done so view was mostly scaffolding.
